Using VS 2010 RC, VB, I have a label on a masterpage that is hidden. I want to make it visible from a content page when needed, and have the text change on the label as well from the master page.
I am using the following to access the label, but the text and other properties don't change for some reason.
Dim lblErrorMessage As Label lblErrorMessage = CType(Master.FindControl("lblErrorMessage1"), Label) lblErrorMessage.Style.Add("display", "inline") lblErrorMessage.Text = "LoginID ALREADY EXISTS!!! Please choose a different ID"
In my application, session value automatically set into null.In certain workflow only it will set as null (Normally It's able to access value). Example, at the time of login, I will set session values. While, user deleting some entries from drop down list of specifc page, client script will show message like selected entry deleted. After that, flow point will move to master page. There I have to access session variables. It's getting null value. I tried to debug with Quick watch, at the pageload of master page only value set into null (automatically).
I have a MasterPage (MasterPage.master) with 2 child MasterPages (specialMaster.master and standardMaster.master). From the MasterPage.master I need to get at some of the controls in one of the children, specialMaster.master, say for example to hide certain content if a session variable is not null.
I have a masterpage and I wrote metatags in masterpage.master.cs. In the category page which is generated from the masterpage every category has their own metatags. When the user visits category.aspx I want to change the metatags. All metatags are dynamically created and they don't have an id or runat because I create them dynamically with a for loop (reading data from the db). So I can't change title of the page and metatags. How can I do this?

My scenario is create a webservice(regional weather prediction, or currency rate), and a client application having a updatepanel and then consume that service. Now, when webservice changes its data(temperture goes up or down, rate changes)I want to ask is there any way client can aware that webservice has changed so it will update properly.
I have created an web based application through which the users can change the server (where the web application is hosted) IPAddress. The problem is that, once i have changed the IPAddress to a new IPAddress, Response.Redirect("MyHome.aspx") is not working any more. I have also tried to redirect the user to the newly updated address but even it doesn't do the trick. No page found message appears after some time. For example: The url while the web application runs in IIS is : http://192.168.0.65/WebDemo/Default.aspx after changing the IPAddress to 192.168.0.66 and redirecting it with the Response.Redirect() method the http://192.168.0.65 is not accessible.Any idea of achieving this task of changing IPAddress of the server and doing an automatic redirect to the newly assigned IPAddress,
I'm currently developing a software application for my client. Part of the project is to keep track of his stock's shipping status. The client must insert the stock's pick-up date, expected time of departure (ETD) and expected time of arrival (ETA). The stocks will be called out using Grid View and the status, being one of the keys of the database, will be shown. Before the current date reaches pick-up date, the status must show "in warehouse", and after the current date reaches pick-up date and is before ETD, status must show that its "on the way to the port", and after ETD and before ETA, "in freight", and finally after ETA, "arrived". What datatype should I use for the database and where should I program it so that it changes automatically accordingly ?
I have a treeview inside a TabPanel but I have problems with the panel's height. It´s not resizing automatically when I expand the nodes in the treeview.
Using Visual Web Developer 10, I've been re-designing my site. When I attempt to size a table cell down, it smashes all my text in the shrinking cell long before any sides are near the edges. Also, it refuses to size down further, it simply stops. Then, if I take the css formatting out of the smashed text, it fixes it, but increases the size of the table cell! lol.
What good alternative products are there to make my asp.net site or to stop this irritating problem.

The Ajax control toolkit tab panel automatically inserts a space by all four corners of the body. For example, go to http://www.asp.net/ajax/ajaxcontroltoolkit/Samples/Tabs/Tabs.aspx and look at the TabPanel on the page. The is a space before "Signature:" and "Bio:" labels. How can I set the space-width to 0px; in the tabPanel body?
