C# - Get The Selected Value Of A RadioButtonList If This Is Created Dynamically?
Jul 26, 2010
How can I get the selected value of a radioButtonList if this is created dynamically? I know that a dynamic control must be recreated on each postback but, is there a trick to solve this scenario?
function preview(controlid, clientid) { var radio = document.getElementsByName(clientid); var answer = "k"; for (var ii = 0; ii < radio.length; ii++) { if (radio[ii].checked) answer = radio[ii].value; } PageMethods.SaveAnswer(controlid, answer); }
The problem however is that I want to get the groupname of the radiobuttionlist so I can use getElementsByName, but i have no luck so far.
A new route to an old problem for me... I'm creating radiobuttonlists and adding them to an update panel dynamically using this code:
[Code]....
I'm wanting to get the selected radio button value whenever a button on the page is pressed, however (and this is my old problem) I cannot retrieve that value. What I'm wanting to try is to add an event that will record the chosen radio button whenever the selected value has changed and store it into an array.
I am dynamically creating a table which places a dynamically created radiobuttonlist in each row.
I then want to display the results on the page when the submit button is clicked.
I am getting an error message stating that
'question1' is not declared
Why might this be happening?? I've included all my code below.
Code behind:
Sub Page_Load(ByVal Sender as Object, ByVal E as EventArgs)
For i As Integer = 1 To 3 Dim TableRow As New TableRow() Dim TableRowCell_1 As New TableCell() TableRowCell_1.Text = i Dim TableRowCell_2 As New TableCell() TableRow.Cells.Add(TableRowCell_1) TableRow.Cells.Add(TableRowCell_2) QuestionnaireTable.Rows.Add(TableRow) Dim question As New RadioButtonList question.ID = "question" & i question.RepeatColumns = "2" question.Items.Insert(0, new listitem("", "1")) question.Items.Insert(1, new listitem("", "2")) TableRowCell_3.Controls.Add(question) Next End Sub Sub btnSendFeedback_Click(sender as Object, e as EventArgs) Dim question1 As RadioButtonList = DirectCast(Page.FindControl("question1"), RadioButtonList) Dim question2 As RadioButtonList = DirectCast(Page.FindControl("question2"), RadioButtonList) Dim question3 As RadioButtonList = DirectCast(Page.FindControl("question3"), RadioButtonList) Response.write(question1.SelectedValue & " - " & question2.SelectedValue & " - " & question3.SelectedValue) End Sub Body: <asp:Table runat="server" ID="QuestionnaireTable" /> <asp:Button OnClick="btnSendFeedback_Click" runat="server" Text="Submit..." ID="submitbutton" />
i've dynamically created new rows on button click in gridview with 3 dropdownlist.for the first default row the selectindexchanged is firing and on pageload 1st ddl is loading with values and basing on selection the second ddl is showing values and third ddl is showing basing on second ddl. Now, when i click add new row, a new row is created with 3 ddl's ...1st one is showing properly but when i select from that ddl ,it should show data accordingly but its not showing particular data but showing all realted data from DB.same for 3rd ddl.
Also when new row is added and the first ddl is selected on postback the second ddl data is refreshing..
I have a radiobuttonlist inside a datalist itemtemplate and i need to bind the radiobuttonlist dynamically from database I have tried to bind it inside itemdatabound event of datalist but it the result is always duplicated according to the fields in teh database.
for more information:
the database has two columns one for questions and the other is for choices , for the first question with id lets say 1 there are 4 choices, when the radiobutton is binded the result appears to be 4 times duplicated ?
I'm creating an quiz application which queries the database and extracts the questions and choices. I use dynamically created controls such as a checkbox list and fill the values dynamically. How do I do this? Right now I have these functions:
array_random_init(); this creates a 10 element integer array from 1-20 - extract_question(i): this extracts a question indexed at i in DB, I created the controls and set the appropriate text in this function. - validate_question(i); this is called by button_click and validates the question i according to DB.
I understand I have to recreate the controls in Page_init on postback, but what should it look like? Do I need to add "if IsPostBack" in page_init, or do I create the controls in page_init() and reset their properties in page_load when I use extract_question(i)? Also, I cannot seem to clear the selected boxes on postback, I added page directive "enableviewstate=false" but it doesn't work.
I have a website that sales associates access to view account information with clients. S.A's can only view information for accounts that they are tied to. Some clients have more than one account, S.A's can be tied to more than one account, but not all accounts of one client need to be tied to one S.A.
On the account info pages, I have account numbers (dynamically displayed labels) displayed of other accounts that the account client is associated with, which the S.A's can see. I'm modding this so that if the S.A has viewing permissions of any of the other accounts on that list of accounts, that instead of a label being displayed, a button directing them to that account page will display instead. In order for this to work, I have to attach a security function to the button, otherwise the page will blow out on the S.A's.
So I'm running a piece that is displaying a button instead of a label, which is working fine. My problem is when I try to attach the security event to the dynamically displayed buttons. It seems that the page just posts back and doesn't execute my code at all.
On my Page_Load, I'm running this after the buttons and labels are displayed:
For x = 0 to tblAccountList.Rows.Count - 1 'use a try to target the button, use catch to handle if it's instead a label, only one cell per row. Try Dim accountLink as Button = tblAccountList.Rows(x).Controls(0) Addhandler accountLink.Click, AddressOf Me.PermissionViewCheck Catch ex as InvalidCastException Continue For End Try Next
I don't have any code checking for postbacks or anything like that, but the "PermissionViewCheck" event never fires and just reposts the page.
I am using jquery and c# to dynamically set a radiobuttonlist listitem to selected. I want to create a reset-type button to reset the radiobuttonlist selected item back to the first item in the list. jQuery/jsTree function currently reseting textbox and hidden field:
$('#ContentPlaceHolder1_hfNodeID').val(''); $('.txtPage').val(''); $('.rblContentTypesGetAll').val(); $('.contentPageForm').show(), .rblContentTypesGetAll is the radiobuttonlist i want to reset (or select the top most listitem). HTML of the form: <asp:Panel ID="PagesForm" CssClass="contentPageForm" runat="server"> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfNodeID" runat="server" Value="" /> <table> <tr> <td>Page</td> <td><asp:TextBox ID="txtPage" CssClass="txtPage" runat="server" /><span class="validate">*</span><br /> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="rfvPage" runat="server" CssClass="validate" ControlToValidate="txtPage" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Page Name Required" ValidationGroup="page" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Content Type</td> <td> <asp:RadioButtonList id="rblContentTypesGetAll" CssClass="rblContentTypesGetAll" OnLoad="rblContentTypesGetAll_Load" runat="server" > </asp:RadioButtonList> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <asp:Button ID="Submit" runat="server" OnClick="PageSubmit_Click" Text="Save" ValidationGroup="page" /> <asp:Button ID="Cancel" runat="server" OnClick="Cancel_Click" Text="Cancel" /> </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Panel>
I'm trying to implement accessibility (keyboard only) ability on my site, but I'm having problems with Radio Button lists. When using radiobuttonlists, when initially, none of the radio buttons is selected, I am able to tab through every single value and select one upon hitting "enter". However, after a value is selected, I can only tab to the selected values, which presents a problem if I want to change the selected value.
From what I understand, radio buttons are grouped at the container controller level, thus when it is considered a group, only one can be selected at a time.
I have a web form(C#) which has many radiobuttonlist controls. For each control there is a corresponding field in a sql server database table. And finally there is a submit button.
I have 2 radiobuttonlist in a web forms, each contains of 4 ListItem. So there are 8 ListItems in total. It is initialised such that none of the ListItems is selected. I want to validate that at least one of the ListItems is selected when submit button is pressed. How to do it? i.e. at least 1 ListItem is selected, either from radiobuttonlist1 or radiobuttonlist2.

I am using the jQueryUI buttonset on an ASP.NET radiobuttonlist. I need to get the selected value in server-side code when the page posts back. If I don't apply the jQuery buttonset, this is of course easy enough - just grab "SelectedValue". However, when I do apply jQuery buttonset, the selected value does not appear to be available on postback any longer. Is there any way around this, or do I need to get the selected value on clientside, and then pass it back myself?
II am populating a radiobuttonlist in code on page load, although not when postback is true (I've checked this by the way).
Autopostback is set to true, viewstate is enabled (everywhere I can think of, although only in the content page, if that matters)
When I select an item, the postback happens, the populating does not happen, and the selection reverts back to the first item, which was never selected.
Nowadays I have the knowledge to do this in javascript, but I would prefer not to. It can't be that it should work like this, can it? The control would be useless. I want the index that is selected.
My page is using the Master page. I am using TabContainer ajax control in my aspx page and have a TabPanel that contains a RadioButtonList control and a text box. I want to show/hide populate the text box based on on the selected value of RadioButtonList. I am able to populate values of all the controls on Page_load() but onlclick()event dos not get triggered. How can force onclick() JavaScript event to trigger for the default selected value of RadioButtonList?
What I want to do is set a session value based on the selected value of a radiobuttonlist. That value will set another value on the next page. The next page can only use one session value, so I don't want multiple sessions set from the radiobuttonlist being selected multiple times. If the user makes a selection on the radiobuttonlist, and then changes the selection, how do I check if a session value exists and if it does, tHow should my code change?
Dim selVal As Integer = RadioButtonList1.SelectedValue If selVal = -1 Then Label1.Text = "Please select a Membership type." Else Select Case selVal Case selVal = 0 Session.Add("MemType0", selVal) Case selVal = 1 [code]...
