I have written a user control that captures some user input and has a Save button to save it to the DB. I use a repeater to render a number of these controls on the page - imagine a list of multiple choice questions with a Save button by each question.
I am loading the user control inside the repeater's ItemDataBound event like this (code simplified):
[code]....
The problem is that when the Save button is clicked, the page posts back, but lbnUpdate_Click is not called. The Page_Load event of the page itself is called however.
I should mention that the repeater is part of a user control, and that user control is loaded inside another user control (this is a DotNetNuke site which makes heavy use of user controls). The Save button link looks like this:
I know how to use a simple If statement wrapped in the <%# tags to hide something, but I don't know how to do it in a repeater when I need to access Container.DataItem, as in I need the dataItem currently being 'repeated'
eg
if (CurrentValidationMessage.Link != "") { show a hyperlink } Markup: <asp:Repeater ID="repValidationResults" runat="server"> <HeaderTemplate> </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <a href='<%# ((MttImportValidationMessage)Container.DataItem).EditLink %>'> Link to erroneous Milestone </a> <%# ((MttImportValidationMessage)Container.DataItem).Message %> <br /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater>
I have an aspx form containing many individual controls like and one repeater control. The repeater control items are basically having dropdowns, textboxes etc. next to each other. My problem is I can set the tab index of each individual element easily but I don't know how to set the tab index of the first element in of the first repeater item. That is why first I need to click the item and then the Tab index inside the repeater control works fine. Do you know how can I fix this? Should I handle this on the server side? or jQuery etc?
I am using a repeater control and i want to use one more repeater control inside the existing repeater control .
Like this:
<asp:Repeater ID="Repeater1" runat="server"> <HeaderTemplate> </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <!-- start child repeater --> Here I want to use one repater control <!-- end child repeater --> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater>
I am using Linkbutton inside the Repeater Control to display the paging ........and m calling Page change event on client click ....m attaching u code that m using it work fine in some webform but somewhere it didn't go the page change method on clicking page no. .....
i'm using a repeater with an hyperlink and i'm displaying some data from a table x and when the link is clicked i want to add some from the displayed data in another table y..I used a datasource for selecting information , should i use another datasource for the insert command or what to do ..
In a repeater control there is TextBox and corresponding to each TextBox there is Button control.On click of Button how can i pass TextBox's text that user has just entered ?
Below is the code:
[Code]....

I have a View that has a select drop-down list and an edit button within a form. What I want to do is have the user select one of the options from the select element, click on the edit button, and get the value of the selected option in the Controller method.
I created my form with <% Html.BeginForm(): %>
and the Controller "Edit" method should be called.
I looked through several online examples, but each one focused on how to set values and the default selected value of the select element, rather than retrieving it from the code in the Controller method. I tried grabbing it from the Request.Form collection like:
string val = Request.Form["myDropDownList"].ToString(); and also: string val = Request.Form["myDropDownList"];
Obviously I didn't do this correctly, because I get a null reference exception. Does anyone have the solution to this issue?
I am trying to collect the chosen value from a html select element and insert it into an SQL Server 2005 database and I get the following exception caught:
Failed to convert parameter value from a HtmlSelect to a String. (I've been converting everything to String before submission to the DB using ToString();
what changed do I need to make to my code for it to achieve what I'm after.
At the moment I am getting a "cannot cast to type" error message with the below code.
I have also tried calling the ItemDataBound method in with the parent repeater tags and had no errors but when I clicked on the button it would just move back to the top of the page and would not hide or show any data. Also I have made the div style to none but the first record still shows its child but the rest don't.
My observation so far in the output rendered by a datalist (when I use this user control inside it) is that the value for the name attribute is the same.I want to use this control inside a datalist/repeater such that I'd want a unique value for the input element's name attribute when the datalist/repeater renders. How is this done?
EDIT: My bad obversation. Actually the names are unique. However, when I try to post the page to another web page which outputs the key & value of all the items in Request.Form I don't see the input elements...
