for my website i have added the data access layer and business layer and add the dlls as reference.
but in the bin it is showing pdb file for both the dlls.
same time there are other third party tools.but they dont have the pdb file.
what is it used for.how can i remove the pdb file.
I'm using the file upload control to enable users to browse to a document, and then upload it. But, I've run into a problem. Some users include a # sign in the file name... Something like "file#123.pdf" The file uploads ok, but, when another user trys to open the uploaded document from the gridview, it errors. If I manually rename the file and remove the # symbol, the file will open ok. How do I prevent users from uploading a file with a # sign in it, or how do I strip out that symbol?

Problem is when there is a comma in the middle of a field. I have been looking at the csv prasers on the net but dont seem to be able to find anything that will return back to LineArray.

This macro reads file name of the excel file and uses it for its computation. Everthing works file if user saves the file on his harddisk and then open if but if he directly opens the file from the dialog(by hitting 'Open' button) then file name of the opened excel file comes out be the name of the webform that has the above code and this leads to error in the macro. Is there any option through which i can control the name of the file if user directly opens the file from dialog or the option to disable or remove 'Open' button form the dialog?

I am using the async file upload control to upload to a image file. I want the user to upload only jpg files. And for that I am checking the uploadedfile content type in server side, after the upload complets. I wanna check this, before upload starts. There is one javascript method

but how to access the content type of the file selected by user.
Is there any possibility to remove the message "no file selected" from the AsyncFileUpload control ?
My users are confused by this message, because it shows after they succesfully uploaded a file.

I need to remove the password protection from an uploaded excel file. I have been doing this directly with the Excel assemblies (ASP.NET/C#) and then I tried with the ooxmlcrypto, both worked, but the problem is that I can not deploy either of those solution because of the dependencies.
I mean, my sysadmin does not want us installing Excel on the server and, as I have been searching for some alternatives, I can not find one.
My question is: is there a way to put the necessary dlls in the server without installing Excel or the Office suite?

It always return javascript undefined error. But if I put the AJAX_Test webmethod in aspx page and replace the url: "CustomValidate.asmx/AJAX_Test" to "mypage.aspx/AJAX_Test". It works fine.

I have two folders in my asp.net web application in which I create new folders programmaticaly. The entire solution is under VSS source control. I was not able to manipulate these two folders programmably. For that, I gave {MACHINE}ASPNET user account full control over these two folders. Still, the "access denied to the path" error was coming. I saw that these entire folders were marked readonly. I tried to uncheck Readonly from explorer but not successfull, readonly check does not get removed. Also, if I copy files using method, the destinationn copied file becomes readonly. I have also tried File.SetAttributes (path,FileAttributes.Normal); but no success. How can I make the copied file not READONLY?

In our application, we allow user to upload documents which can be PDF, Doc, XLS, TXT. Uploaded documents will be saved on web server. We need to display link for each document user uploaded and when user click on that link, it should open relevant document. it is expected to have required software to open relevant documents.
To upload document, we use saveAs method of FileUpload control and it works absolutely fine.Now, how to view it?I believe, i need to copy/download file to local user machine and need to open it using Process.Start.For that i need to find user local temp directory. if i put path.GetTempPath(), it gives me web server directory and copy file there.
