I have two tables one called Login and one called User there is a one to one relationship from the user table to the login table:

i'm new with design patterns and i'm not sure if in this situation i can use a composite pattern.
The scenario is a web application for an address book : the address book cointains AddressBoookItem, generalization for Contact and ContactGroup. The last one is the composite object containing a collection of AddressBoookItem.
With these scenario i'm sure that this is a composite pattern, but what is confusing me is that a contact may belong to many contactgroup. Does this request change the situation? Till now i thought that between the Leaf object and the Composite (in the composite pattern) there was a 1-to-m relationship (a composite may contains many leaf but a leaf is contained in only one composite object). Can i still use the composite pattern ? And, the last question,
How could i represent my scenario in a relational database? One table for the entire hierarchy or two table (Contact and ContactGroup) with a m:n relationship between them ?

Why does a very simple script which inserts 26,000 records into a mysql database (myisam, no transactions) take 13 seconds in the php implementation, and then 35-50 seconds using mono+mysql connector? I thought asp.net was faster than php? Could the problem be the mono mysql connector is "platform independent", so the performance just stinks? or does asp.net suffer more overhead than php when it comes to executing each query? Aren't there any native linux binaries for mysql connector for mono that may be faster?

I have a Default.aspx program that contains a Treeview with a SiteMapDataSource. I also have a web.sitemap loaded up with urls. When I run the deafult app I get the tree layout that matches the numbers of options but no text on any of the options to click.

My requirement is like the main page should have an "Update All" button where as these grids have their individual Update and delete options. Now when I delete or update anything from the Grids it should do a soft update or delete function and eventually when I hit "Update All" an actual commit statement should be executed.

I am looking for a good search engine database that can handle a very high load. I have taken a look at lucene and sql server 2008. I have read that lucene tends to get corrupt when the load is very high. So, I am considering sql server 2008 but I am uncertain sql server can handle a very high load over gigabytes of data.
The database will be given a chunk of data and needs to fetch similar data elsewhere in the table. it will act just the similar questions area on stackoverflow. It will need to search over millions of rows. Is sql server 2008 and lucene my only options

I want to produce an online quiz, that will have the following fuctionality
1. it contain database with , ID, Questions, Option A, B,C, and D, Student Answer.
2.After forming the griedview in connection with the database, i form additonal colum to include Radiobutton where students are to choose the correct option.
3. I was able to configure the gridview which successfully show all the above document but the problem now is how to bind the selected option by students to the database so that i can know wether they choose the right answer or not. i wat the student answer appear in the colum named student answer in the database.

When I am using MS Visual Web Developer, I can drag the table onto the webpage and it gives me check boxes to Insert, Update, Delete,...When I do the exact thing using the other database, it only has check boxes forpaging, sorting and selection. What is the difference? I seem to have all teh same permissions in both databases.

However, usually they will only provided a couple MS SQL databases, but a large number (like 10) MySQL Databases. Can I use a MySQL database as a back end to a ASP.NET website? I changed the Unit Code (City Table) field into a template field and am using a dropdownlist item to reference the Unit Name from the (Unit Table) with the CityTable.Unit Code = UnitTable.Unit Code. However when I go into the update and change the dropdownlist item to another Unit Name it is keeping the original Unit Code value or it might even be selecting the first value from the dropdownlist item.

Using the web wizard to enter newly created policy data and related information.My question is how to handles relational data in the wizard and saving that back to the database.A general idea of the setupEach policy can have multiple policy periodsEach policy period can have multiple sections and multiple policy feesSO The new wizard allows for a single policy entry, then we move to enter the policy periods. Which can be one or many per new policy, then we move to the sections and fees which can be ne or many per policy period.Each part is a step on the wizard. Policy, Period, Sections, Fees.The multiple entries are handled with an aspxgridview.NO problem in entering the data and completing the wizard, except when it comes to actually saving the data.Saving the policy and policy period information is easy because I can get the policyID value and assign that to each policy period.Problem comes in when I save the period child info. Because I can have multiple periods, I can't determine which child data (Sections and Fees) belong to which period so as to get the period ID.What process would you suggest, and how can I achieve this.I have thought of only allowing period entry per new policy. This will certainly solve the problem in a way, but does not conform to business rules.
