I'm using the WYSIWYG editor TinyEditor (http://www.leigeber.com/2010/02/javascript-wysiwyg-editor/), and I'm having an issue recalling the updated data. I searched the forum and found someone else had the same issue:
http://forums.asp.net/p/1526709/3684896.aspx#3684896?Accessing+textarea+value+in+code+behind
Thing is, I think I've done everything in the post, but my code is just not working. When I click submit, the variable in the code behind (val) isn't capturing any data

Here's my code:

I am creating an MVC project with a table using the JQGrid plugin. I would like to use a DropDownList to allow the user to specify a value, that will be used in an SQL query to retrieve specific data from the table. I.e. user can select a country from the list, and the table will display items only from that country. I cannot figure out how to retrieve the selected item from the DropDownList, within my data bind function for my table, within my controller class.
DropDownList in the View
<%= Html.DropDownList("Countries")%>
Setting up the DropdownList in my controller
//dt is a DataTable which holds the values for my list
List<SelectListItem> countries = new List<SelectListItem>();
for (int i = 0; i < dt.Rows.Count; i++)
[code]....
The problem seems to be that within a JsonResult function I don't have access to the ViewData or my ViewModel, which always seem to be null when I try and access them. I am very new to MVC and web development,

I'm building a web system and various clients will have alternate text for default instances throughout the site. One place is the main nav but there are others. The default may be "project" but they may want to call it "event".I'm heading down the road of calling all the terminology settings (there's a list of about 15) and creating an ArrayList that has the id and either the default or their replacement as the items in the ArrayList.I've also got a enum key list called TermKey that has the defaults and the corresponding ID number.
Throughout the code I'll reference TermKey.Project and then do one of these things that I see as options.
1-pull the text from the session (if the client has set it to "event" then the text "event" will be waiting for the call there)2-pull the text from the database every time I need it.3-pull the client's list each time a page loads.Some thoughts on the impact each way or if there is a best practice for

I'm adding <ASP:TextBox>'s to a page in code.I'm going to set their ID and stuff like that.I'm wanting to retrieve the text of those textboxes on a button press.Now I know I can't simply do "Me.MyTBName1.Text". I guess I could loop through the controls and compare IDs. I'd rather be able to get the textbox's text directly somehow though.I could use Javascript to get the value, but I don't think I can use it server-side at that point.

My ex colleague created a few pages using server side javascript. What we are doing is connecting to a pop3 account and retrieving emails. We use a free component called OSPOP3. It works well but I'm having trouble getting the attachments of each email object. This is my asp code:
Code:
Set Session("oSession") = Server.CreateObject("OSPOP3_Plus.Session")
that's creating the object.
this is the server side js:
Code:
everything works fine ablove except the line i highlighted in red. I don't know why I cant get the attachment name or any of its properties. The attachment count is 1 which is correct.
I get this error:
Code:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a01c2'
Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment
In classic asp or asp.net I can do this and everything works:
Code:
For Each a As Attachment In msg.Attachments
Dim a_Name As String = a.AttachmentName
Next
I can't even console.log the object because it is server side javascript. I have to try to fix it in the ssjs because his code is doing quite alot of stuff and I don't have time to rewrite everything ....

I was given help in a previous topic located here: Accessing Gridview In Another Form In this topic I had gridview rows that are selectable and a search window that returned search results. We found a way for me to select a row in the parent window of the search one. My issue now is that when the parent windows gridview is sorted, the function no longer selects the correct row. I was wondering if there was any way to access the gridviews sort expression and direction, or some other way I can do this so it accounts for sorting. Relavent code is as follow: This is in my parent window
<script type = "text/javascript">
function selectRow(index)
{
//Retrieve a reference to the table that represents the GridView
var gridView = document.getElementById('<%=gvSideList.ClientID%>');
if(gridView)
{
//If able to get a reference to the table representing the GridView...
var doPostbackArgument='Select$'+index;
__doPostBack('<%=gvSideList.ClientID%>',doPostbackArgument);
}
}
This is in the child window
<script type = "text/javascript" >
function selecttherow(index)
{
window.opener.selectRow(index);
}
</script>
protected void gvresults_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//declare variables
GridViewRow row;
int index;
int id;
//retrieve index, row, and id from gvresults
index = gvresults.SelectedIndex;
row = gvresults.Rows[index];
id = Convert.ToInt32(row.Cells[5].Text);
//fill a datatable from general with id's for selection
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT ID FROM General", csbg);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@id", id);
SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd);
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
da.Fill(dt);
//loop through the dt and find the index of the matching id from the search window
for (int i = 0; i < dt.Rows.Count; i++)
{
if (dt.Rows[i]["ID"].Equals(id))
{
//execute script to select the matching row in the dataentry page
string script = "";
script += "selecttherow(";
script += i;
script += ");";
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.Page, this.GetType(), "selecting", script, true);
break;
}
}
}
Let me know if you need me to further clarify anything.

Putting text from LoginName control into Logout Text for LoginStatus control?
[Code]....
I would like for hte full logout link to read: "Welcome, username - Logout Here"
Username is obviously being provided by the LoginName1 control. I am unable to simply use concatenation so I assume I must turn the value of the LoginName object to a string and then concatenate it. Is there a way to do this?

i need to get the value of some textboxes in an aspx file. usually if these are defined in the front page they are easily accessible in the code behind.
however the form (textboxes) are defined within a separate web control (ascx file) that in turn is registered within another web control, that is registered in the aspx page in which i am trying to access them.
my question is how i get at these values. i presume i need to do some sort of find for each control and the relevant textboxes i need?

While developing I've seen a couple different ways to get local resources values from the resx files. Which one is considered the best practice?
Using the GetGlobalResourceObject method:
<a id="myLink" href="#"><%= GetGlobalResourceObject("Filter","Diary")%></a>
Or using a control and setting the value directly in the resx.

On my webpage, jobs.aspx, I have a gridview which is populated from my database. I would like it so that when a row in the gridview is clicked, the ID of the row from my database can then be passed through as a query string to a second webpage, details.aspx, where more information about what was clicked on will be displayed.
I'm confident about being able to pass the query string, I just need help with getting the corresponding row's data ID from my database and making the gridview click-able, which will be the interaction which specifies which ID to be retrieved.

I have created a asp.net webpage for viewing daily downloaded newspaper, saved as a pdf file in a selected folder (~/NEWS/{0}) within the web root directory. Also i have a SQL datasource linked, where the news table has two columns viz: date and filename.
I want to create a tiled listview where the date text is visible on the hyperlink. on clicking the hyperlink, the file name is retreived for the corresponding date and the pdf file opens in a fresh page.
I have tried going to the item template in listview and replacing the label control with a hyperlink control, but then not able to successfully proceed ahead.

I think I summed up the question in the title. Here is some further elaboration...I have a web user control that is used in multiple places, sometimes more than once on a given page.The web user control has a specific set of JavaScript functions (mostly jQuery code) that are containted within *.js files and automatically inserted into page headers.However, when I want to use the control more than once on a page, the *.js files are included 'n' number of times and, rightly so, the browser gets confused as to which control it's meant to be executing which function on.What do I need to do in order to resolve this problem? I've been staring at this all day and I'm at a loss.

I have the function put here like below:
$(document).ready(function () {
UserControlNameInit();
});
The script are put in the following and the block is in the .ascx page.
<script type="text/javascript">
</script>
However, the function UserControlNameInit() does not run when the page loads. It is showing in the page source. I can still call this function through FireBug console by manually typing the name of the function.
I did the same way with other user controls, and it works. Just 1-3 user controls are not working...
