Forms Data Controls :: Adding Hyperlink Control To Listview To Link To Files / Retrieving Filename From SQLdatasource

I have created a asp.net webpage for viewing daily downloaded newspaper, saved as a pdf file in a selected folder (~/NEWS/{0}) within the web root directory. Also i have a SQL datasource linked, where the news table has two columns viz: date and filename.
I want to create a tiled listview where the date text is visible on the hyperlink. on clicking the hyperlink, the file name is retreived for the corresponding date and the pdf file opens in a fresh page.
I have tried going to the item template in listview and replacing the label control with a hyperlink control, but then not able to successfully proceed ahead.

I'm using a file upload control to save the documnets ina file server and i'm storing the url for the docs in database.
In a grid i'm binding the url to a hyperlink field. But the link is not working. The document is not openeing. Is this the correct way to do?
If the file is stored in a local machine it is openeing but if i store it in some fileserver it is unable to open.

Is there anything special you have to do to retrieve Filestream data using a SqlDataSource? I'm using VB and have this as my sqldatasource:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSourceReadPD" runat="server" etc...
SelectCommand="SELECT [PDIPAttachment] FROM [PositionDescriptions] WHERE ([CP_IDString] = @CP_IDString)">

PDIPAttachment is a FILESTREAM column in my table called PositionDescriptions
and this is some of my VB cod:

The Filestream data has a PDF file in it, but what I"m getting back in "data" are 13 bytes consisting of: "System.Byte[]".

I have a search option which a person can use a multi select listbox. I have it coded so it would loop through to see if its selected or not. I also have a stored procedure where the sql statement is coded for the select statement. For some reason, its not populating my gridview. Where am I doing wrong? i am trying to develop forum page in asp.net using c#. I have listed forum threads lists as Title, Description, Posted On, Posted By like that using Listview. Now my idea is if the user clicks anyone of the title from the list the control will move to new page. there based on thread title selected from listview i would like to display the reply msgs posted for that. i am struggling lot here.

I'm a bit new to this game. I'm trying to build a web page that simply scans a directory in the server and creates a web page with links to the files in that directory - sounds simple and should be easy to do !So I have a bit of code that reads the myDocuments folder in my web site and then populates a grid view hyperlink column with the filenames in the folder - wow it works !The only thing I am struggling with now is getting the hyperlink correct within the GridView so that the user goes to the actual document.So my code behind is;

which reads the file info in the directory myDocuments and binds the info to a datasource.So now I'm using that datasource to display the filenames in a gridview so that the user can click on a name and open the file.

But of course the Name field in the hyperlink column is only the name of the file - how do I append the relative link to the filename to make the full path to the file correct.I tried to make the Hyperlink column a template field and do something like EVAL("~/path/"&"Name") but that doesn't work :(

If I have the ListView on a mode which only displays data (no editing or inserting), how do I reference data in a list view item using the code behind?
In other controls I have used e.Items and e.Values, but I can't seem to work out how to do it in the listview.
For example if I wanted to set the image based on a database column (I know I can do this in the HTML but just for the purpose of the example, what would I put in place of the *** below:

Please help to understand this RegEx statement in details. It's supposed to validate filename from ASP.Net FileUpload control to allow only jpeg and gif files. It was designed by somebody else and I do not completely understand it. It works fine in Internet Explorer 7.0 but not in Firefox 3.6.

I have a file structure setup by project number on my local drive. I have a database with the projectnumber, projectname, client, etc. I set up grid view to display the projectname, projectnumber and client. We have a MS Access 2007 database that has a hyperlink column in one of the tables. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. I need to have the same column display in a gridview in ASP.net and have it function just like in access. In access, the user clicks the link and either the file or the wepage opens just fine. In the gridview in asp.net, if we click on the link it does "nothing". The links are to files on our network and to files on other people's websites and the paths are tested and work properly. The name of the column that holds the hyperlink is named MSDSLinke. Here is the code I am using:

I have anested ListView control. I also implemented a jQuery to automatically expand the TextBox control inside of the nested ListView Insert Template. The problem is, when the Textbox expand, the outer ListView control is not; therefore, the Textbox control expands underneath the buttons of the outer listView control. How do I expand the outer ListView control as the nested ListView textbox is automatically expand? One great example is in Facebook where if I add a response comment, it'll automatically push any comments below mine down. If nested Listview control is not the best way to do this, what are my options?

I've extended gridview, and added it a linkbutton, when i have'nt select a datasoruce for gridview the linkbutton causes postback and onclick fires, however when i select a datasource for grdiview the linkbutton does'nt cause postback. I've also test onclientclick property and href attribute and assigned them page.getpostbackevent, and they did'nt work here is my code:

I have an accessdatasource that pulls several columns from my users table including [userID]. Then I have a gridview that displays all this information by autofilling the columns. Finally I have added a column that I want to link to viewUser.aspx?userID=####. The #### would of course be from the query.
Here's my column that I've added:

This is my first time using this so I'm not sure what's wrong. I don't understand the '{0}' part and that's also where the problem lies. On the viewUser page when I print the querystring("userID") it just shows {0} as expected. How do I get my userID in there?

now i want to get id which is datakeynames in listview. i try from selectedindexchanging but it is not going to this event.
after this i'll take this id and will use in session.
does anyone knows how to get this datakeynames in listview when commandname is set to select?
