May 25, 2010I'm in a Unique position where I have to display one popup above another popup. Problem is that popup B's background does not show above popup A's content and as such you ae still able to click on buttons, ect. on popup A.
I tried to rather disable the Tab Control on popup A with javascript once popup B is displayed, but it only disables textboxes and labels and nothing else.
getting popup B's background to display above popup A or help with disabling all controls (Contained in Tab Control) on popup A?

Forms Authentication And Session Signout

I am trying to "marry" them up together. so lets say if session timeout is 2 minutes and same with forms authentication.
I want the ability to redirect the user to a page. (no, not using meta tags or anything to refresh the page) on any navigation after the time out.
Sure, create a control and drop it in the master page. All good
but there doesnt seem to be a way to determine if a user was logged in and if so... do what I need to do (i.e Signout and redirect) but it should not impact users who have not logged in.
The only time objects are being added to the session is when the User has logged in. infact the only object in session is a Custom User object.

Nov 21, 2010Is it possible to validate a user's Username + Password without logging them in? I understand a usual login block will look like this:

With the Membership.ValidateUser() call setting the cookie for the response.
However, there are some additional checks I'd like to perform after the password is confirmed. (Pulling out an expiry date for that user, for example).
Is there a way to do it without just calling FormsAuthentication.SignOut(); after invalidating the page?

Jun 19, 2010I'm a winform/silverlight developer my asp.net skills are very poor.I've got a task to make a kind of popup with the code of conduct that users need to accept before they can continue.I have no idea how to do it so I googled some and found this javascript popup called lytebox which I actually managed to get to workproblems i have with it are:1. you can click next to the box and it closes too2. i want a yes/no button but the lytbox only has option for close/next/previous3. I dont know how to make it pop without user action (like clicking on a link:p)anyway this is not a must . if anyone can give me some good tips or guides or example how i can do this i'd be happy!

Jan 25, 2010I have an MVC app that uses [Authorize] to protect the private bits. When I select the SignOut() URL it signs me out but if I hit the back button on my browser the it goes to the secure page and even lets me use the form. The action takes place and then it shows that I'm signed out. The problem is that it performs the secured action (inserting a row into my database). Then I can use the back button again and do it all over. If I use the back button after logging out and hit the browser refresh it does show I'm logged out and refuses me access to the secure page. Am I missing something important? It seems like it could be a really big security issue.

Apr 7, 2010I have a modal popup with an image cropping tool I wrote in JavaScript and it passes the coordinates to the codebehind on postback. Anywho... for some reason when I call the Show() method the modal popup is rendered 3/4 of the way down the screen. I checked firebug to see what CSS might be conflicting but found nothing to be conflicting with it. If I enable the reposition modes it will adjust to the correct position on scroll or resize but not when it is rendered.

May 13, 2010I have a Default(contains the sign-out button) and Login page, once the user is not authenticated, it will always redirect the user to login page.
So the scenario is when the user hit the sign-out button it will redirect him to the login page which is good. My problem is, when the user hits theprevious or back button from the login page,it will still read the authorization cookies and redirect him to the default page. which should not be the case. the user should be redirected to login page when authentication is invalid.
I've read some solutions on the net, but still it doesn't work for me. below are the codes I've used for my sign-out function

By the way, when the user is authenticated, the previous or back button is available/enable for the user.

we commented default Doctype in masterpage. (

I sepcified X="10" and Y="120" for modalpopup this works fine. but the problem is when the user scroll down the page he wont be able to see the modalpopup ( it always shows in the corresponding X,Y position). If i remove X,Y values horizontally it showing fine but vertically we are able to see only half of the popup window. how can we always show the popup window in the middle of the screen(eventhough user scrolls the page). I am using latest ajaxcontroltoolkit (3.5).
