C# - Strange Session / Does Not Show The Message After Adding The Product To The Cart?
Dec 28, 2010
I have this field in my session class:
public bool IsCartRecentlyUpdated
{
get
{
if (this.session["IsCartRecentlyUpdated"] != null)
{
return (bool)this.session["IsCartRecentlyUpdated"];
}
else
{
this.session["IsCartRecentlyUpdated"] = false;
return (bool)this.session["IsCartRecentlyUpdated"];
}
}
set
{
this.session["IsCartRecentlyUpdated"] = value;
}
}
Whenever a user adds a product to the cart I put this value on true:
public void AddToCart(Product product, int quantity)
{
IsCartRecentlyUpdated = true;
//other code for updating the cart
}
Adding a product to the cart does a postback so I can show a message (ëg: Product added succesfully) in Page_Load of the General Master page where the shopping cart is located, when a product has just been added to the cart:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (this.sessionsUtil.IsCartRecentlyUpdated)
{
this.lblCartWarning.Text = (string)GetLocalResourceObject("CartWarning");
imgCardLogos.Visible = false;
}
else
{
this.lblCartWarning.Text = String.Empty;
imgCardLogos.Visible = true;
}
//other code
//put it back to false to not show the message each time the page is loaded
this.sessionsUtil.IsCartRecentlyUpdated = false;
}
Well this code works great locally but on the server it does not show the message after adding the product to the cart but on the second page loading...(I guess that on the server somehow the page is loading before the session var is updated - extremely strange)
Do you know why? I do not see any problem in the code...
i am new to MVC 2 and i am trying to create a shopping cart system , now i am in delima either to use the User Control to display the Product with add to cart button dynamically or to use the controller to get the data and create a new view page.
kindly suggest also what i dont know is how to get the dynamic data in the view page in MVC 2.
I want some efficient way that how can i display a message to user that he is about to logout after 1 minute if user is idle and doing nothing on the page for 1 mintue.
on message if user want stay online so he must click keep me online or say logout.
<asp:ImageButton ID="IMGTaeed" runat="server" CssClass="IMgTaeedS" ImageUrl="~/image/TaeedE.png" onclick="IMGTaeed_Click" OnClientClick="return confirm('Would you like to registerØŸ')" />
as Paypal offer "Add to cart" and "view cart" the two options which I need the most.And the biggest issue is that I am creating a website for a printing company. so they want a file to be uploaded with each product example a photoshop file but paypal does not give any upload file system.If I give upload file control before the user go to paypal page but every product should have an uploaded file and I don't know that how many products the user selected in paypal cart.
I am making a web form in whose name is order.aspx in which user have to add his details .like name contact no etc. but my problem is there are products which i have listed in combo box . if user select any one item from it it shows its quantity .after selecting he quantity the details of product must be displayed in grid view below .then if user select second product it should do the same grid view must add the second product details to it and so on.
The cart does show up on the default.aspx page when I click add to cart. How do I get the cart to show up on the ViewCart.aspx page?
For now the cart does show up on the defualt.aspx page. I need thecart to show on the ViewCart.aspx page also.Also if you look at the defualt.aspx code I wanted to declare a Demcimal TotalPrice variable. I want to use it to get the running total of the Price variable. I assume the correct syntax would be Decimal TotalPrice += Price. I keep getting an error. Don't know why.
Here is my code for the Default.aspx page :
[Code]....
Here is my code for the Cart Class (Cart.cs) : [Code]....
Here is my code for the ViewCart.aspx page :(Have not inserted any code as I am puzzled on what to do)
I know there are a million questions out there on how to implement a shopping cart in your site. However, I think my problem may be somewhat different. I currently have a working shopping cart that I wrote back in the 1.1 days that uses ASP.NET session variables to keep track of everything. This has been in place for about 6 years and has served its purpose well. However, it has come time to upgrade the site and part of what I have been tasked with is creating a more, erm, user-friendly site. Part of this is removing updatepanels and implementing real AJAX solutions.
My problem comes in where I need to persist this shopping cart over several pages. Sure I could use cookies, but I would like to keep track of carts for statistical purposes (abandonment stats, items added but not bought, those kinds of stats) as well as ser-friendliness, like persisting their cart so that if they come back it is remembered. This is easy enough if a user is logged in, but I don't want to force a user to create an account if they don't want. Additionally, the way we were processing orders was a bit, ehh, slapped-together. All of the details (color selected, type selected, etc) are passed to paypal via their description string which for the most part is ok, but if a product has selections that are too long for the string (255 chars i believe), they are cut off and we have to call the customer to confirm what they bought. If I were to implement a more "solid" shopping cart, we wouldn't have to do that because all the customer's choices would be stored, in addition to the order automatically being entered into the order processing system (they're manually entered into an excel spreadsheet. i know, right).
I want to do this the right way, but I don't want to use any sort of overblown software that won't really work with our current business model. Do I use a cookie to "label" each visitor to match them with their cart (give them a cookie with a GUID) across pages, keep their whole cart client side, keep the cart server side and just pull it from the db on each page refresh?
i am currently storing my shopping cart in a datatable assigned to the session. but i wanted to know is it a good idea to store the GUID for the session shopping cart?
In my online shop, users can search products,each product have a link called add to shopping cart, users can add to the list many products like anonymous user, the question is.How can i do,for not to lose the product list, when user make Log in or create one account in my site
i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new userregisters. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already existsfrom the create user wizard membership UserName and Password Textboxesis it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?
i have a first page and user selecting some products. Passind with session. Retrieving from first page. And in this point i want to connecting my northwind db and display selected products detail side by side in my second page. (listview or datalist) here is my second page codebehind.

I am using an application from a book for a shopping application , to adapt for my own learning, but there seems to be a problem with the shopping cart page. This is a section I have not changed as there is no need to but there is an error. In the code behind the only thing new is the namespace:
namespace OIClothing { public partial class Cart : System.Web.UI.Page { ShoppingCart cart; // it doesn't like this, giving the debug message the type or namespace 'Shopping Cart" could not be found protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { CheckTimeStamps(); if (Session["cart"] == null) { cart = new ShoppingCart(); Session["cart"] = cart; } else { cart = (ShoppingCart)Session["cart"]; } GridView1.DataSource = cart.GetItems(); if (!IsPostBack) GridView1.DataBind(); btnCheckOut.Enabled = (cart.Count > 0); } protected void GridView1_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) { cart.DeleteItem(e.RowIndex); GridView1.DataBind(); }
but when running the page, this error is given: CS1061: 'ASP.cart_aspx' does not contain a definition for 'GridView1_RowDeleting' and no extension method 'GridView1_RowDeleting' accepting a first argument of type 'ASP.cart_aspx' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I am working on a site in which some pages are to be run on secured server(ie https) & some on non-secured(ie http) eg Login, User Information, etc. will be run under https & View cart, etc. are to be run on http. Now, when user chooses some products in his cart, he is prompted to enter login details. After he fills in his login detail(ie in https), he is redirected to Checkout. But here the Session doesn't picks the value and it shows Session[UserID] value null. So, rather then redirecting to Checkout it shows MyAccount page. Does anyone know how to pass Session Value from https to http.
