I have a ASP.NET page that contains a formview and ObjectDataSource. On the page I only have 4 fields that are bound to fields in my datasource. My datasource contains 10 fields. When I call an update it is setting the 6 fields I am not binding to to null. The only way I can find it get around this is to add hidden fields for the 6 unbound fields and bind them to the datasource.Is there anyway around this without using hidden fields?

I have a header section in my css file and am trying to have a h1 title in in with a text box just to the right of the title (a bit like on sites like amazon and play, except using a piece of text for the title, rather than an image logo).
By default, if I use an h1 tag, it will insert a line break and cause the text box to appear below the title. I've tried using a span tag with class h1, but that doesn't work (I don't know if this is because h1 isn't considered a class in the same way that the classes prefixed with a dot in the css file are).
What is the best way to have the title text have the same style as the relevant h1 tag, but not have the associated line break?
I have a gridview that I am exporting to an excel file. When I open the excel file, the alternating row color extends to the end of the excel table, but I only want my 6 data columns to be formatted. How can I limit the formatting?
My gridview:
<asp:GridView ID="grdExportable" runat="server" BackColor="White" ForeColor="Black"
Width="1100px" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Visible="False">
<PagerSettings Mode="NumericFirstLast" />
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="ActivityDateTime" HeaderText="Date/Time" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="TestName" HeaderText="TestName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="RoundSerialNumber" HeaderText="RoundSerialNumber"/>
<asp:BoundField DataField="RoundType" HeaderText="RoundType"/>
<asp:BoundField DataField="LotNumber" HeaderText="Lot/StockNumber" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Notes" HeaderText="Notes" />
</Columns>
<SelectedRowStyle BackColor="#000099" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" />
<HeaderStyle BackColor="#6C0000" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" />
<AlternatingRowStyle BackColor="#CCCCCC"/>
</asp:GridView>
My export method:
private void ExportGridView()
{
string attachment = "attachment; filename=Activity Report.xls";
Response.ClearContent();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment);
Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel";
StringWriter sw = new StringWriter();
HtmlTextWriter htw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw);
grdExportable.Visible = true;
grdExportable.RenderControl(htw);
grdExportable.Visible = false;
Response.Write(sw.ToString());
Response.End();
}
I have an ASP.NET web forms site with a rather large menu. The HTML for the menu is dynamically generated via a method in the C# as a string. I.e., what is being returned is something like this:
<ul><li><a href='default.aspx?param=1&anotherparam=2'>LINK</a></li></ul>
Except it is a lot bigger, and the lists are nested up to 4 deep.
This is written to the page via a code block.
However, instead of returning a flat string from the method I would like to return it as formatted HTML, so when rendered it looks like this:
<ul>
<li>
<a href='default.aspx?param=1&anotherparam=2'>LINK</a>
</li>
</ul>
I thought about loading the html into an XmlDocument but it doesn't like the & character found in the query strings.
I have a recruitment portal that people can use to advertise and search for jobs.I would like the recruiters to be able to add a small javascript snippet to their personal websites, that will list jobs on my site. how can i go about this?I have webservices set up so the javascript can just call that, but i also need the result to be formatted and placed inline.This should work in a simular way to google adsense.
View 1 RepliesI have in my DB a HTML markup written as a strings. How to convert them and view as a formatted HTML markup ? I tried Server.HtmlEncode(), HttpUtility.HtmlEncode() with no success
View 2 RepliesI need to assign text entered in a text area to a label.But if text is entered in the following formatin the text area
Some Text

then the label displays it as Some Text Some Text Some Text... without the enter,I want the text to be displayed as it is entered in the text area..
I've had this problem for a while now, it seems to come and go (sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't) and I can't really figure out what's wrong.Basically my aspx code will sometimes format automatically, except not in the way I want it to. I always structure html and xml-like code as such:
Code:
<parent>
<child />
<child>
<subchild />
<subchild />
</child>
</parent>
This way I can quickly see which tags belong to which, and I think this is the usual way html is formatted, right? Anyway, suppose that I have this code in my aspx code window (don't mind that it's not aspx code, that's not the point), then sometimes VS will automatically format it to this:
Code:
<parent>
<child />
<child>
<subchild />
<subchild /></child></parent>
Basically it seems to put all closing tags on the last line, leaving me sometimes (with many nested tags) with an extremely long line at the end, making it completely impossible to see the structure of my code. Here is an actual example. This is how I wrote my code:
xml Code:
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
<h2>Login</h2>
<p>
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblMessage" Font-Bold="true" ForeColor="Red" />
</p>
<p>
<asp:Table runat="server">
<asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableCell>Gebruikersnaam:</asp:TableCell>
<asp:TableCell Width="35px" />
<asp:TableCell>
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtUsername" />

I have MS SQL Server 2008 and I would like to store formatted text from a rich textbox. Formatted in the sense that I want to store a multiple choice question's formatting, an example would be like this:What is 2 + 2?
4 6 2 8
Then when I retrieve it from the SQL database it saves its formatting.
I am building a web site similar to Craigslist. I would like to know how to store the html formatted text (bold / italics / font size etc) in a sql 2008 database?In order words, the user would enter their text, format it with font size, bold etc and save the information. Whats the most efficient way to store that in a database?

This is what I am being asked for it to look like where just the server name is up and the type of server it is so the information is easier to read
Can I still do this with a GridView? Or is there some other type of data presentation that might give more freedom.
I am having a hard time searching for what I am trying to do (don't know the right key words for it). here is what I want.1) web form aspx page that will have a list box (data comes from database) for example: I will have in the list box text1,text,text3..... this is easy2) after user selects text1,text2, I want to be able to give the user the option to export text1 and text2 to a world document or pdf. the hard part that i don't know is, I want to give the user the ability to format the document for example: text1 should be on top of page 1 and text2 should be in the top of page 2 then do the export. is this possible? is there anything out there that i can use?

I have DataTable in which I am storing formatted string (in one of the columns)
[Code]....
I want to store the formatted string in SqlTable, because I am in a situation where I cannot reformat.
How to do it
I want to remove a particular htmlnode from a html formatted string.I have a string
[Code]....
In the above line of code I want to remove the whole object node from that string. Remember object node can have as many attributes and childnodes.
I am formatting textbox currency values as follows:
this.MyTextbox.text = String.Format("{0:c}", dblTotalNrcIrapContributionAmount);
I need to copy the values from a textboxes text property into a nullable double, currently I have:
//test for empty string - if yes set dblMyAmount to null,
// else set value to this.MyTextbox.Text value
Nullable <double> dblMyAmount = ((this.MyTextbox.Text +
"").Trim() ==
"") ? (Nullable<double>)null :
Convert.ToDouble(this.MyTextbox.Text);
which is not working - the error message is "Input string was not in a correct format."
I have this issue: Let's say I have this content in a field of a database table
<p>Example text and content to be displayed in a view</p>
When I access this content in a view and request it to be displayed in a browser I get the text as it is above instead of the properly formatted HTML content like this
Example text and content to be displayed in a view
How do I make sure that the view outputs the content in HTML format?
How can i access data from text area as it is formatted.
View 2 RepliesI have used the MailHelper for quite some time now and love it. In the past I have only used it to send plain text emails, but I need to send some now that have columns and have everything line up properly. I wrote the code and it looks great to me viewing the messages in Outlook, but I have some people that receive these emails that have macs and theirs aren't getting translated, they are getting the raw HTML output. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Could it be a problem with their mail client? If so why does the rest of the email display fine? Below is the code I use to build the message body:
