When a button/link is clicked, I want this URL to be called followed by the execution of the following statements. The ASP.Net page is in C# btw.
Function A
statement A
call abc.apsx
statement B
abc.aspx is a silent page, doesn't display anything on the page but creates an output.txt file. So when abc.aspx is called, output.txt file is created and Statement B is executed seamlessly.

I have a page that is based on my master page. the code below
<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="CaseAdmin.aspx.cs" Inherits="Prototype4.CaseAdmin" %>
<%@PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/Account/Login.aspx"%>[code]....
when the page above loads, i have link buttons on the left and an empty maincontent area next to its right. what i want to do is display an entry form in the main content on click event of the link button on the left. the second form is as below.(form not based on master page).
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="OpenCase.aspx.cs" Inherits="Prototype4.EntryForms.OpenCase" %>
<%@PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/CaseAdmin.aspx" %>[code]....
how do i perform this task and if i wanted to display a different form in place of the first one that appeared in the maincontent area, how do i go about it?

Having a very strange problem and just wondered if anyone could shed some light on it. I have a page that takes a file and posts it (using a flash control) to another page on the same site. Now this other paged is used simply to take the file from the request and save it to disk. However when i try and set a session value there the calling page can not access this session variable (no matter how long i do a thread.sleep. It is simply nit finding the variable.
When i looked deeper into this I ran trace.axd and much to my surprise the page that is called does not show up in the list. But it is defnitely being called as the file that the original page sent has been saved to disk.

I have a site with a master page, Site.master. Many of Site.master's content pages have the same button that functions the same way on each page:
<asp:ImageButton ID="btn" runat="server" OnClick="btn_Click" />
Is it possible to write btn_Click once in Site.master's CodeFile and have it called in the OnClick attribute of each content page's button? I'm trying to avoid adding the same function (or anything at all) to each content page's CodeFile.

I have a admin page in asp.net that adds data to a database. This database is available as a JSON string to external websites, however, since it's a lot of data, the external websites cache this data locally.I want to be able to ping the external websites to let them know the data has changed so they can referesh their cache. I figure I can setup an ASHX handler that receives a parameter telling them what data has changed, so they can both delete that data and refresh it.The only part I'm not sure about is the best way to call this external page from my admin page. Do I just do a regular WebRequest and discard the result? or is there a simpler way to call a page from code when you don't need the response?

I built a web-application which calls a web-service twice in the application's log-in page - first, on Page_Load, and the second time is after a button click. When debugging, everything goes well, but after publishing the web-application and trying it - I cannot make the two calls for the web-service (each call is invoking a different function in the same web-service).
If I call it once (say, in the Page_Load) its OK, but once I get to the button click event, the page just seems to be loading but actually doing nothing (loading to infinity).
When I disabled the web-service call in Page_Load, the web-service call after the button click worked well, and if I switched between them (disabled the call in button click and enabled the call in Page_Load) the enabled one worked OK.
How come this is happening? What did I do wrong? Could it be related to the fact that the location where I published my web-application has some URL-rewriting rules?

I have a simple web page in ASP.NET / C#. Currently to fully render the data I require calling a block of code that runs on background threads and can take multiple minutes to complete. I've got it to the point (using the async attribute on the page declaration) to execute and return fine with the html once it's done. What I'd like it to do is allow me to return immediately with a 'loading page' of some sort and then have that page be updated when the background work has been completed. Right now I get nothing on the page while the background work is being processed.

Simple question here, but I've got a nagging feeling that there's a more interesting solution than the one I've chosen:
Page Two consists of a dropdown, and the change event is handled to execute some query.
protected void ddlSavedQueries_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
/* stuff happens */
}
Page One is a home page, where I'm providing another version of that dropdown. I'd like the change event in this case to redirect control to Page Two, and then execute the event handler.
My cheap solution is just a Redirect with a querystring value that is handled on page load.
