I really like coding in VB and i have built a few windows forms and messed around a bit so recently i dove into the web forms and website coding aspect of my VB 2010 studio. i watched a the tutorials and i've been all over this forum but i can't get my webpage to load in my browser. the top line of code, that comes with the default ASP.NET website:
<%@
Page
Title="Home Page"
Language="VB"
MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master"
AutoEventWireup="false"
CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb"
Inherits="_Default"

I've found that some of my ASP.Net web apps prompt the browser to load plugins that I'm not explicitely using and certainly haven't deliberately referenced in the project settings.Two that come to mind are for MS MediaPlayer and the "SVG Viewer for Netscape".The only commonality I've determined so far is that the two sites/apps affected both use Master pages (nested in some cases).We don't use SVG file types (just the normal mix of jpg/gif/png) and no video/audio (not yet anyway).Can anyone provide a hint as to where the references for these might be creeping in? e.g. Is it a server-level include? Or a .Net runtime default when using master pages?Does anyone else even experience this, or is it just me?

so this is alittle bit obscure and I'm not sure its the best way of doing what I'm trying to do but here goes.
Basically I have a Presentation Layer Dll in my web site which handles the Model View Presenter classes. The presentation layer also handles login for my website and then calls off to a web service. Currently whenever the presentation layer calls to a model it verifies the users details and if they are invalid it calls to a loginHandler which redirects the user to the login page. However I cannot dynamically load a new istance of the Login Page in my website from within my Presentation layer.
I've tried to use reflection to dynamically load the class but Since the method call is in the presentation assembly it is only looking within that assembly while the page I want to load is in the website.
heres the reflection code that loads the View:
public ILoginView LoadView()
{
string viewName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["LoginView"].ToString();
Type type = Type.GetType(viewName, true);
object newInstance = Activator.CreateInstance(type);
return newInstance as ILoginView;
}
how to search within the website assembly? Ideal I don't want to tie this implementation into the website specifically as the presentation layer is also used in a WPF application.

I want a browser to go full screen as soon as my page loads. Is it possible in javascript. I know the shortcut key for this F11 but requirement is on page load only.
After reading the solution provided below. I achieved full screen but here i got a trap. I was using timer to make my page postback to get fresh data after every 5 second. And here I found after every 5 sec new window opens up but I want full screen to go only once and next time content gets refreshed there itself.

But I am getting the below error while browsing the websiteConfiguration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'xmlns'.Source Error:

Previously when we used to create a website in IIS, it worked fine. I have checked the website folder in IIS [ By clicking Property > ASP.NET] and the framwework tageted there is 1.1, and it is in read only mode. If the problem is related to this issue than please let me know how to change it.

I'm creating an Excel file in C# on my asp.net web site. Then, I want to save this file somewhere within the web server's files, and send that file to the browser for the user to download. I've got it working on my local system in the dev environment, but I'm not getting the file addressing right. How can I store a file in "~ParentFolderSubFolderfile.ext". Then send that file to the browser for user download.
String outputFile = Utilities.writeToExcelFile("", MapPath(@"~ReportFilesTempFilesDropShipData.xls"), table);
DownloadFile(outputFile);
public void DownloadFile(string fname)
{
string path = fname;
string name = Path.GetFileName(path);
string ext = Path.GetExtension(path);
string type = "";
// set known types based on file extension
if (ext != null)
{
switch (ext.ToLower())
{
case ".htm":
case ".html":
case ".aspx":
case ".asp":
type = "text/HTML";
break;
case ".xls":
case ".xlsx":
case ".csv":
type = "Application/x-msexcel";
break;
case ".pdf":
type = "Application/pdf";
break;
case ".txt":
type = "text/plain";
break;
case ".doc":
case ".docx":
case ".rtf":
type = "Application/msword";
break;
}
}
Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition",
"attachment; filename=" + name);
if (type != "")
Response.ContentType = type;
Response.WriteFile(path);
Response.End();
}
Again, this works fine on my local pc, but when I move it to the server I get an error for accessing the path. And the path listed in the error code is NOT where I want the file to go.

My requirement is that I have a few hyperlinks on a webpage and when the user clicks on these hyperlinks I should redirect the user to an asp.net web page(Default.aspx) in a different website.
For the 1st time when the user clicks on one of the hyperlinks it will launch a new browser window with the Default.aspx loaded and then if the user clicks on some other hyperlink I want to redirect the user to the existing browser window(in which deafult.aspx is already loaded)with the content related to this particular hyperlink loaded,instead of launching a new browser window/tab.
But I am not sure of how to achieve this.I wonder if I can add some js to the asp.net Default.aspx page to achieve this.

I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2008 website. Although this same code compiles in the Project version, the website version does not compile. Many of their files are the same so I do not understand even where to look. The only compile error I get is:
Could not load type 'DataMatch'
in my DataMatch.aspx file. Is the problem in my web.config file? How do websites differ from projects in VS? All four of these files reside in same directory.
Default.aspx file:
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs"
Inherits="AddFileToSQL" Title="Untitled Page" %>
Default.aspx.cs file:
using System.Data.SqlClient;
using System.Security.Principal;
namespace AddFileToSQL

public partial class AddFileToSQL : System.Web.UI.Page

DataMatch.aspx file:

I inherited a .Net website project. Except for just 3 .aspx.cs files, pretty much every other file is a .aspx file.
I don't see any .csproj or any .sln files.
If I want to load up this website on my localhost, how would I go about doing it? Am I supposed to load up Visual Studios and "import" these *.aspx.cs and *.aspx file?
I already successfully set up the SQL Server database and updated the web.config with the appropriate credentials.
