Check If A Webpage Is Loaded Or Not In The Browser Window When Redirecting From A Different Website?
Feb 14, 2011
My requirement is that I have a few hyperlinks on a webpage and when the user clicks on these hyperlinks I should redirect the user to an asp.net web page(Default.aspx) in a different website.
For the 1st time when the user clicks on one of the hyperlinks it will launch a new browser window with the Default.aspx loaded and then if the user clicks on some other hyperlink I want to redirect the user to the existing browser window(in which deafult.aspx is already loaded)with the content related to this particular hyperlink loaded,instead of launching a new browser window/tab.
But I am not sure of how to achieve this.I wonder if I can add some js to the asp.net Default.aspx page to achieve this.

I'm using ASP.NET Membership and Form Authentication and before redirecting to the returnURL I wanted to validate it. For those unfamiliar with the workflow, basically if you request a page that requires that you are authenticated, you are redirected to a login page. In the URL string you'll see a parameter called returnURL, e.g. [URL]
Whether you use this in a redirect such as Response.Redirect(returnURL) or indirectly through the FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage method, it passes without validating returnURL.
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage does have a security check that it is isn't leaving the domain, but that still doesn't stop someone from putting enough random characters to cause an error.
I tried using System.IO.File.Exists(Server.MapPath(returnURL)) but given enough illegal characters it cause Server.MapPath to error.
Note: URLEncoding doesn't work because we are not cleaning a parameter, but the primary URL.

where external files / images are being loaded from. By this I mean that I'm aware that external JS files / Images are cached on the first load of a page. What I'd like to have is a tool that confirms to me that on subsequent requests these files are in fact being loaded from the users cache rather than downloading the file again.

On my webpage I am loading 30 .jpg Images and a .SWF(Flashfile) that takes 4 MB. The problem is that when the Page is loading in, this 4 MB flashfile is loading in together with the images wich makes it to take very long time.
What I would need to do, is to load the webpage with all its images First and when the webpage is loaded, now I will need to load this 4 MB flashfile in the background. When this file is loaded to memory, I will start playing that in a loop in this Flashcontrol that I have.
How is a scenario like this possible to do? I struggled with it before but couldn“t solve it.

I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application).
For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page.
What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine.
Also, I can use javascript on the client to do this if that is the only way, but I would prefer the php app to handle this at the server if possible so the client gets the html embedded from the original server and it looks like it all was generated by the php script that generated the entire page. I also want to avoid using an iframe.

Is it possible to Open a new browser tab/window using c#. I have query string info I don't want to put in a hidden field due to it showing on the client side. I do save the data in ViewState and encrypt the viewstate; however, I don't know how to access that information on client side.
I can access the viewstate data fine on Server Side but I need to open the new browser window on server side in order to access the ViewState. I may be wrong. Is there a trick to this?
I did find a way; however, on any other click after the initial click everything goes to a new window:

I need to open a second browser window or tab, but it must have a different session ID.
Opening the new browser window from an ASP.NET page is easy, but then it shares the same cookie and thus session ID with the original.

i am writing an application, and i have a link on a page that opens its url in a new browser window. on this new window, i have an asp.net gridview with radio button on each row and each row has a staff_id, and staff_name column, and the gridview has datakeys as staff_id, staff_name.
my question is that i want to be able to select a row (using the radio button) and when user clicks a button on the new window, and i want to populate two textboxes on the parent window with the staff_id and staff_name values from the selected row(in the popup window), and if possible close the popup window.

I was playing around with ASP.NET Web Parts which has a "drop down" div. It's all the way to the right of the page. When I click to bring it up, it goes off the window. Usually anything off the viewable area will trigger the bottom scrollbars. How is this possible?
Edit: It's Internet Explorer 8. Below is the markup with some context. The relevant one I think is id=WebPart_wp774658725VerbsMenu. By default it doesn't display. When you click on the td/span Verbs/span VerbsPopup (it could be any), it shows the "dropdown". In Developer Tools I don't see any JavaScript attached to those elements, but if I debug it I see it running some.
<TD class=partTitle>
<TABLE style="WIDTH: 100%" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0>
<TBODY>

I have a web page (aaaaaa.aspx) which opens a popup window (bbbbbb.aspx). From the popup window vb.net code, I do a Response.Redirect("cccccc.aspx") to another page. On this page I have a button and when I click it, I want to close this page (cccccc.aspx) and refresh the original page (aaaaaa.aspx) so that the changes can be seen. Presently, the page cccccc.aspx close but the original page (aaaaaa.aspx) does not refresh. Normally this works fine with just a popup window. But the response.redirect is what messing me up, I think. I did not write this code but just trying to make it work. Here is the code I am using in the button_click event of page cccccc.aspx:
Response.Write("<script>window.opener.document.forms[0].submit();</script>")
Response.Write("<script>self.close();</script>")
