Web Forms :: Checking All Checkboxes On The Page Using 1 Checkbox With Or Without Javascript

Nov 1, 2010

I have found plenty of examples where the checkboxes to be checked are within a datalist, gridview or other datacontrol like that.. but i dont have that setup..

I have individual checkboxes within my page and need to provide a way to check or uncheck them all..

I cant use a checkboxlist because of the layout of the page.. so not sure if it would be easiest with javascript or do it with the checked event for the single check box that will be used..

I know that may not be the best or cleanest way, but is there a better way?

Reason i cant use a checkboxlist for the larger set of checkboxes, is that a few of them will have additional fields that need to be completed if they chose certain checkboxes.. so i have those controls next to the checkbox that they belong with..

Forms Data Controls :: Bound Datagridview Loses Count After Code Based Deletion

Feb 19, 2010

I have a bound datagridview with the associated tableadapter, dataset and bindingsource. A different component in our application can add or delete rows displayed by the datagridview. When this happens, the underlying database edits are correct. The problem is that the datagridview seems to lose track of the data.

Currently, when we receive the event that our data has changed we do the following.

this.DataSet.Offers.Clear();
this.TableAdapter.Fill(this.DataSet.Offers);
this.BindingSource.ResetBindings(false);
this.DataGridView.Refresh();

If our example had something like 5 items displayed in the grid and a row was deleted, the grid refreshes with 3 items shown. If we manually refresh our grid through a button calling the exact same code, it displays the correct results. Is this an asynchronous call? Should we be refreshing the grid in a different area?

DataSource Controls :: Ignore A Date After Checking From A Set Of Records From A Table

Jun 29, 2010

I have a table with a structure and records as follows,

Record ID Applied From To

01 01/01/2010 01/01/2010 10/01/2010
02 12/03/2010 13/03/2010 15/03/2010
03 21/05/2010 22/05/2010 12/06/2010

I have a stored procedure which must be provided with a requested FROM date and TO date. If a given FROM date and TO date is in between any record set available in the table, it must return an error. For example,
According to above table, there is a request FROM 01/01/2010 TO 10/01/2010, and If the user enters 06/01/2010 as FROM date [Requested FROM date is already in between the Record ID 01 - FROM date and TO Date] , thus, it must display an error, or print a message.

AJAX :: Asynchronous Code For Checking Ports?

Nov 7, 2010

I have some code which connects to a port quickly and if it can connect then it turns the line in the gridview green, if it cant and times out then it turns the line red. This is great, the problem i have is that the page takes a long time to load (as it has to check each port first) and then if i want to check again if the port is up / down i have to manually refresh it which is not what im after.

[Code]....

The code is in a loop and cycles through the various ports in the DB, what i want to know is how i can write a loop that will going through each port without waiting for the last port to come back with a result

Secondly do this in some way that it will auto refresh every 30 or 60 seconds without having to refresh the whole page.

Keep That Password Encrypted In Code While Checking It Against A Data Store?

Jan 18, 2011

Even with https enabled, you can write a password to the event log in code-behind. Any way to keep that password encrypted in code while you're checking it against a data store?

(using Login control)

(couldn't add comment to Andrew's answer, so I'm putting it here)
NTLM uses the username/password of the machine the user is logged into right? For this, I was thinking using ActiveDirectory on the server as the data store. It would have a diferrent un/pw than what the user is currently signed in to their machine as.

Web Forms :: How To Determine If All Checkboxes Are Checked In Code Behind

Feb 17, 2011

I have a page that im using javascript to do a select all / unselect all for my checkboxes on the page. Now i need to determine in the code behind if all of them are checked, im wondering if it would be easier to just set a session or something whenthe select all is checked, but that wouldnt be accurate, because after you select all, you still can uncheck some..

So i need it to check at the time the button is clicked.. there are currectly 30 checkboxes, NOT a checkboxlist.

I tried using the site search but getting an error has occured when i click to search..

Adding Checkboxes Inside Listview Dynamically From Code Behind?

Mar 16, 2011

I'm trying to create checkboxes inside Listview from code behind, but I'm having problem creating them.

What am I missing here?

Checkbox's ID comes from Datareader.

Here is my code.

If reader2.HasRows Then
While reader2.Read
Dim jobid As String = Convert.ToString(reader2("JobTicketID"))
Dim jobtitle As String = Convert.ToString(reader2("JobNickName"))
Dim item As ListViewDataItem
For Each item In ListView1.Items
Dim jobtd As HtmlTableCell = CType(item.FindControl("jobtd"), HtmlTableCell)
Dim jobtr As HtmlTableRow = CType(item.FindControl("jobtr"), HtmlTableRow)
Dim cb2 As CheckBox = New CheckBox
cb2.ID = jobid + "cb2"
cb2.Text = jobid + IIf(jobtitle <> "", " (" + jobtitle + ")", "")
jobtd.Controls.Add(cb2)
jobtr.Visible = True
Next
End While
End If

Forms Data Controls :: Dynamically Add CheckBoxes Using Code Behind

Dec 29, 2010

I´m developing a database driven asp.net 4.0 application and are currently stuck with the following issue.

I need to dynamically add checkboxes using code behind. These checkboxes represent activities that the user may chose from by ticking the ones that they are interested in. I do not know the number or which activities that should be presented until runtime so hard coding checkboxes is not an option.

On the client side I need to keep track of which checkboxes/activities the user have chosen as I need to calculate the cost for these without doing a postback. I would like to use javascript to find out what activities that are chosen and also calculate the total cost using javascript.

To implement this I tried to use Page.ClientScript.RegisterExpandoAttribute (server side) and javascript (client side, but I do not manage as ticking any of the checkboxes will not fire a client side event. I´m also using Telerik RadPanelBar controler.

Below is my current not working implementation:

Code behind/aspx.cs

public override void DoLayout(Aranea.Common.EntityDOL.ProjectRegistration existingRegistration)
{
base.DoLayout(existingRegistration);
lblCaption.Text = "Payment page";
//Get collection
TrackableCollection<ProjectActivityBooking> acitivities = existingRegistration.ProjectParticipant.ProjectEntity.ProjectActivityBooking;
//Add datasource and bind
this.RadPanelBar1.ItemDataBound += new RadPanelBarEventHandler(itemDatabound);
this.RadPanelBar1.DataSource = acitivities;
this.RadPanelBar1.DataBind();
this.lblTotalBooked.Text = "Total Booked " + decimal.Round(totalBooked, 2).ToString();
}
void itemDatabound(Object sender, RadPanelBarEventArgs e)
{
decimal totalActivityPrice = 0;
//Get panelItem
RadPanelItem item = (RadPanelItem)e.Item;
//Create Checkbox
CheckBox chk = new CheckBox();
chk.ID = "box";
//create label
Label lbl = new Label();
//Get Activity
ProjectActivityBooking activity = item.DataItem as ProjectActivityBooking;
//trying to register my checkboxes
Page.ClientScript.RegisterExpandoAttribute(this.validator.ClientID, "ClientID", chk.ClientID);
//Get total activity price
totalActivityPrice = GetActivityPrice(activity);
//Get total booked
totalBooked += totalActivityPrice;
lbl.Text = totalActivityPrice.ToString();
//Set activity name
chk.Text = activity.ProjectActivity.ActivityName;
chk.TextAlign = TextAlign.Left;
//Add controls
item.Controls.Add(chk);
}

Client side code:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="PaymentPage.ascx.cs" Inherits="CX.Aranea.Client.WebFront.UserControls.RegistrationForm.Payment.PaymentPage" %>
<%@ Register assembly="Telerik.Web.UI" namespace="Telerik.Web.UI" tagprefix="telerik" %>
<%@ Register Src="~/UserControls/CxStandardControls/CxLabel.ascx" TagPrefix="cx" TagName="Label" %>
<telerik:RadPanelBar runat="server" ID="RadPanelBar1" Width="400px" Height="30px"
Skin="Forest" ExpandMode="MultipleExpandedItems" ExpandAnimation-Type="InElastic" >
<Items>
<telerik:RadPanelItem Text="root" Expanded="false">
<ContentTemplate>
</ContentTemplate>
</telerik:RadPanelItem>
</Items>
</telerik:RadPanelBar>
<cx:Label ID="lblCaption" runat="server" />
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="plhChildren" runat="server"/>
<asp:Label ID="lblTotalBooked" runat="server"/>
//My custum validator
<asp:CustomValidator ID="validator" runat="server" ClientValidationFunction="validation"></asp:CustomValidator>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function validation(source, arguments) {
var chkBox = document.getElementById(source.ClientID);
if (chkBox.checked == true) {
alert("This should work");
}
}
</script>

I´ve been stuck with this for some time now and have a nice deadline coming up :) I would be most thankfull if anyone could point me in the correct direction as I feel a bit clueless. Perhaps there is a much easier way of solving this? Perhaps my code is all wrong?

Post To Confirm Deletion In Asp MVC?

Dec 21, 2010

The following is a note from Professional ASP.NET MVC 2 by Scott Hanselman ++

You might ask — why did we go through the effort of creating a <form> within our Delete Confi rmation screen? Why not just use a standard hyperlink to link to an action method that does the actual delete operation? The reason is because we want to be careful to guard against Web-crawlers and search engines discovering our URLs and inadvertently causing data to be deleted when they follow the links. HTTP-GET-based URLs are considered safe for them to access/crawl, and they are supposed to not follow HTTP-POST ones. A good rule is to make sure that you always put destructive or data-modifying operations behind HTTP-POST requests.

If web-crawlers and search engine have no access to the page containing deletion button, is it safe to use a standard hyperlink to link to an action method doing the actual delete operation?

SQL Server :: Database Deletion Not Working When Parameter Involved?

Sep 2, 2010

I have a system in which users can enter records into a database via ajax. Each user may hold many values in the database, with different pageId and itemId values. Each user is identified by a GUID set to a cookie. The system needs to prevent the user from entering two pieces of data with the same pageId and itemId, so I've created a script to do two database updates:

Firstly, all records are deleted from the database where the memberGUID, pageId and itemId fields match (i.e. they've already added this item).

Secondly, the record is then recreated.

It all works brilliantly, except when the GUID value is passed into the delete statement, then I just get a caught exception.

So this works:

[Code]....

But this doesn't:

[Code]....

The weird thing is that because the GUID value is being saved in the second database call, it is definitely there and is definitely the right data type etc. Even if I hard-code it into the delete procedure it still causes the whole thing to fail.

why it's failing when I add the GUID parameter in the deletion process?
