Forms Data Controls :: Bound Datagridview Loses Count After Code Based Deletion
Feb 19, 2010
I have a bound datagridview with the associated tableadapter, dataset and bindingsource. A different component in our application can add or delete rows displayed by the datagridview. When this happens, the underlying database edits are correct. The problem is that the datagridview seems to lose track of the data.
Currently, when we receive the event that our data has changed we do the following.
If our example had something like 5 items displayed in the grid and a row was deleted, the grid refreshes with 3 items shown. If we manually refresh our grid through a button calling the exact same code, it displays the correct results. Is this an asynchronous call? Should we be refreshing the grid in a different area?
I am new to asp.net and was trying to use datagridview in my webform. I was able to bind it to my database but I cannot make the datagridview's buttonfield respond. It seems the grid's SelectedIndexChanged event is not being fired or has issues with postback. Even a very simple statement is not being executed by the program e.g.
I have a detailsview form which passes data to a sql database. What I'd like to do is present a message when the number of rows in the destination table exceeds a specified number (40) or redirect the user to another page.
Im working with asp.net web application,I need to get multiple gridviews dynamically based on the count (which i get from database) for that i took a web user control and i added a gridview there . iwant to load that usercontrol in aspx.cs based on the count..
As a workaround for the fact that asp:Checkboxes don't have values, I am attempting to dynamically create the ID's of checkboxes in a DataList so that it inserts the primary keys into the control ID. This is surprisingly difficult.
I have placed a PlaceHolder in my DataList ItemTemplate, then in the ItemCreated I create the checkboxes using string.Format("Checkbox{0}", DataBinder(e.Item.DataItem, "ID")). The problem is that this only works in a non-postback condition, as on postback the DataItem is null. And of course ItemDataBound isn't called on PostBack so that won't work either.
I can't seem to find a good way to handle this short of if (IsPostback) dataList.Bind(), which i don't think is a good way to do it.
I'm trying to add the code, programmatically, to ask the user if they want to delete a record that is being displayed in a DetailsView control. It is called Tutorial 22: Adding Client-Side Confirmation when Deleting by Scott Mitchell. how it could be done in a DetailsView. Here's some of the ASPX code:
[Code]....
And here's what I've got for my DetailsView1_DataBound() event code:
When a user submits the query to SQL when clicking a button I need to get a count of the number of rows that are returned. Which event does the gridview.count code need to be place in?
Right now I have it in the btn_click event, but in order to get it to count the rows you have to hit the button twice since the query is not returned yet. Here is my code.
I have a gridview which has bound fields and a template field for checkbox.I wrote a code for deletion of records as per checking checkboxes. My problem is
HtmlInputCheckBox chk; foreach(GridViewRow dr in dgvdetails.Rows) { chk = (HtmlInputCheckBox)dr.FindControl("ch"); [code]...
I have an .NET 4.0 / C# web application that contains pages with GridView controls on them. There is an Entity Data Model and EntityDataSource objects that allow for CRUD operations against the database. My questions are the following.
How can I setup the delete command in the GridView to delete recursively, given my setup? In otherwords, how do I cause it to delete the record selected as well as any records related to it, and any records related to those, and so on? Also, how do I incorporate verification of deletion before deleting? What I would ultimately like is a 3-button window to pop up. "Delete", "Delete Recursively" and "Cancel" would appear. I'm also open to other suggestions for a better way to do this.
have gridview with link button as itemtemplate.i want to display the modalpopup after clicking the linkbutton in the gridview. This modalpopup should dispaly some data based on the value associate with the linkbutton
I got this code from a working windows version of the software, now I'm rewriting the code of the windows to make it web based. How can I access the values of the gridview?
This was a pretty disappointing moment - when databinding, using Eval("Contact.LastName") would work. It nicely evaluates the related Linq object's member LastName. If the "Contact" object is null, no error is thrown... instead the field is simply null.
However, the same does not hold for sorting - if there exists a null entry (this object does not have a Contact) then the LinqDataSource throws a NullReferenceException. This means that, if you ever have nulls on your foreign-key objects, you can't use sorting headers in the ListView.
This makes the feature moderately useless - I have to roll my own properties for every single field I'd ever want to sort on. That's insane.
I HAVE A GRID VIEW IN asp.net + VB Code. There is a drop down list and the selected data is displayed in web page. I placed a label in web page and code behind i used following code.
Protected Sub GridView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GridView1.DataBound Label1.Text = GridView1.Rows.Count.ToString() Dim ONYO As Integer = 0 Dim DONE As Integer = 0 For i As Integer = 0 To GridView1.Rows.Count - 1 If GridView1.Rows(i).Cells(0).Text = "ON YO" Then
There is a Gridview(say with 5 rows) in my web page with Delete button inside it.
I want that when I delete any row( say I deleted 5, 2, 3, 1) and then when I try to delete the last remaining row i.e., 4 then it should not get deleted.I want that remaining any last row(can be any) in Grid should not get delete. How to achieve that?
I have my data grid and sort on a column but the row formatting stops working. I simply selected a format using the autoformat option and picked classic. Am I meant to reapply the row formatting after the sort? And if so how?
The new values entered by a user are lost when a error occurs.
I tried to solve this by catching the error in the item updated event as per the code below
[Code]....
however the data in the form gets set back to the original values.
It seams as though the object data source is rebinding the form. How can i determine if this is the case? Is there a way to stop the datasource from rebining?
I create a gridview dynamically to fit the contents of a datatable...This form will have other dataatbles thrown at it but for the moment I am only working on one to work out the details of the process.I will post all my code below...the problem is this. The code successfully geenrates the gridview the way I want however...whenever I select a row all the cells including the header cells dissapears [code]...
I noticed that with some of the data controls (like gridview and listview) the page loses focus when you click edit, update, etc. So if your data control is somewhere lower on your page, you'd have to scroll down to get to it again. Is this normal or is there a way to keep the focus or location on where you were previously?
