Jun 3, 2013I am working with odbcCommand class, in one case I got error that QueryTimeout Expired. Even though this SP is taking only 3-4 secs in DB to execute these specific values, When I set the CommandTimeout=0, then it worked fine.
1)Is it necessary to always use this property while working with Command Class.
2)If it is not suggested to use, but still if I use it then how it will impact the performance.

Jan 10, 2010i have a webpage with a calendar and the days are rendered with events from a sql database and the imagebuttons are generated programmatically. the issue i am having is that when i click on the imagebuttons, nothing happens. i have specified the imagebutton.command and the imagebutton.commandargument and eventually, i want it to load a modal popup but at the moment, for testing, i simply have it redirect me to another page.
the imagebutton commandeventhandler doesnt seem like it is firing. at the moment, it seems to be doing a postback. i also do not want the postback to happen. i simply want to show a modalpopup and databind the details view inside the popup, i know how to do all of that, i just want to know how to
what i need to do to execute the function when the imagebutton is clicked and how i can associate that function with the commandargument of the imagebutton.

Feb 22, 2011I have some code in my vb.net code behind that queries a database, and if there is data, outputs it from the codebehind to a datalist on my asp.net page. In addition to sending the data to the datalist on the page, I need to take the value from "mbillaty" that is returned from the sql query, and have that value be the selected value for a drop down box also on the page. I can get either the datalist to fill, or the selected value for the dropdown box to be selected depending upon which bit of code I place before the other (ARGH), but I can't get them to both work together on the page. What am I doing wrong?

Iis - Execute A Dll Function In Bin Not Working?
Apr 24, 2010I am developing a remote control application where a client (aspx page in a browser) can request a server to "launch a notepad" (for testing purpose, for real life, turning off a light bulb, etc). So I created a dll with a simple function for launching the notepad (on the server side) and dropped this dll in the root bin folder.
It worked fine when the aspx page is running under ASP.NET development server (launched from Visual Studio). But when I tested the same aspx page under a FireFox browser, it did not work (launch the notepad) even though it did call for the same function (I stepped through in debugger).
Is this a permission issue? How do I set this up in IIS manager, or even better in web.config?

Aug 30, 2010I have a folder with a web site I'm developing which is connected to a database.Every time I move the folder to a different computer it's a pain when I have to move the database and change the connection string.
I've thought to use for the first time a database in the app_data folder and move all the database inside it.
Nevertheless, when I try to recreate all the tables in the new database for the first time with the query "create table ..." I get and error saying that "SQL CREATE TABLE" is not supported. Is there a way to manage this situation?

Automatically Generate Delete Command For GridView Not Working
Nov 9, 2010I have a GridView and a SqlDataSource, which I have set to automatically generate Delete/Insert/Update statements. I then just enabled Deleting on the GridView, and usually away I'd go. For some reason though, the row is not being deleted - the page is posting back but the row is still there. When Delete is clicked, RowDeleting does fire though. What possible causes could this be?

Security :: Folder Permission Running Locally / Attrib Command Is Not Working
Jun 28, 2010I have a very simple and stupid problem but I'm unable to find a solution. I'm trying to create folders and files locally through my code, however I get a permission exception when I try to write in a folder in my application. Normally I'd run this on a remote server, and ask the system administrator for writing permission on this specific folder, but I need to run this locally for the moment.
If I navigate to the file in windows explorer, and right click the folder and click on Properties, I can see that it's set as Read Only. However when I try to disable this tickbox and click on Accept, nothing happens. It ignores me, and next time I open the Properties of this same folder, it's still marked as Read Only.
I've googled this and found a solution which implies using MS-DOS and a command named "attrib". This is not working for me either. I also read about adding an ASP.NET account on my PC and granting the right permissions to this, but I'm not sure how to do is.

Apr 8, 2010I'm a novice programmer and I have this situation: I have a nested Gridview, and I want to be able to DELETE the records in the nested Gridview. I have no problem inserting new records with the nested gridview, but it does not execute the DELETE Command on the SQL Datasource. I checked that the DATAKEYNAME on the nested gridview includes the the parameter that is used in the DELETE SQL Command on the SQL Datasource for that Gridview. But it seems to me that the parameter value is not being passed to the SQL Datasource by the nested gridview. Maybe I need to use a difference approach to execute this on a nested gridview compared to a regular gridview.

Jan 26, 2011in the nested ListView (or the child ListView), the edit command does not work.
It seems that the <EditItemTemplate> is not properly excecuted by the edit button in the <ItemTemplate>.
Interestingly, the edit command in the parent ListView works well.
The insert and delete commands in the nested ListView also run without any problem.
But I get no change by pushing the edit button which is located for each reply (the item of the nested listview)

Mar 10, 2011I am looking through a sql stored procedure which I might need to update in the near future. Basically the stored procedure is about 20 lines long. The stored procedure first builds a query
and stores it in a variable named "@Sql". And then for the last two lines of the stored procedure it appears that the big sql statement stored in "@Sql" is executed by using the "EXEC" command. See below. What is confusing though is that the query appears to be exectuted twice? Why was the query written in this way. Don't both lines do the same thing? Why is it being done twice? Could this possibly be a mistake on the
part of the person who wrote the query. Below are the two lines I am talking about?
