View 4 Repliesi have a Dynamic Questionnaire that is created using dynamic data from the Database. My data in the Database contains the fields like
QuestionID - Primary key
Question - The Question Text
Answer - The Answer
Required - This is a Validation , i used this to enable the Required validator in asp.net
DataType - This is the Datatype, it can be a Heading also.
ReadOnly - This check if that Question is a Read-only , This happens most of the time , when it is a Calculated Field, meaning its values depends on other fields values.
Order - This is the order the Questions will appear
Section - This is the section, So the Questions are Grouped. Normally in Page1 you will have Questions for Section 1.......
Deleted- This is a bit Field , its either 1 or 0 , 1 is active, so this will be to Filter only active Questions
QuestionType- This is the Type of Control the Data should be Presented with, It can be a Dropdown ,checkbox or textbox..
QT_ID - There can be many Templates of the Question , this makes sure we use the Correct Template for the Questionnaire
So with this kind of Data , i want to use know , what asp.net Control can i use to achieve this.
need to let users to generate online questionnaires that could be answered by other users. I was wondering if this could be done using the WebParts.I have a custom application with already set up database. I do not use any form of Membership Provider (I have a custom made form of user authentication, I did not want to be bounded by the rigid frame of the ASP Membership). As far as I know Web Parts uses db (called SharePoint ?) to store the state etc. so this might be the first problem because I do not want to modify my DB just for the sake of WebParts (I assume it would require a whole lot of changes).So I was wondering if it would be possible to use Web Parts only as a form of "ASP code generator" e.g. I could create the questionnarie using WebParts and then export the result somehow (?) to print an ascx/aspx file or code.If this can not be done, can anybody tell me if there are any components that would be useful here? Some sort of toolkit where one could create asp code online? (with textboxes, checkboxes etc.).
View 2 Repliesi have a task, online test. 15 questions stored in database , and also answers.
it has 4 options, a, b, c, d. for a particular question how to fil values in respective options from database.?
and also how to move to next questions, by clicking next button
how to set time for particular questions.
eg: 2 min.
if the user not click the answer for particular question, it should automatically went to next question. (online exam text).
I've written a questionnaire application in ASP.Net that takes people through a series of pages. I've introduced conditional processing, or branching, so that some pages can be skipped dependent on an answer, e.g. if you're over a certain age, you will skip the page that has Teen Music Choice and go straight to the Golden Oldies page.
I wish to display how far along the questionnaire someone is (as a percentage). Let's say I have 10 pages to go through and my first answer takes me straight to page 9. Technically, I'm now 90% of the way through the questionnaire, but the user can think of themselves as being on page 2 of 3: the start page (with the branching question), page 9, then the end page (page 10).
How can I show that I'm on 66% and not 90% when I'm on page 9 of 10?
For further information, each Page can have a number of questions on that can have one or more conditions on them that will send the user to another page. By default, the next page will be the next one in the collection, but that can be over-ridden (e.g. entire sets of pages can be skipped).
i have a calender control like this
<asp:Calendar ID="CldrDemo" runat="server" BackColor="#FFFFCC" BorderColor="#FFCC66"
OnSelectionChanged="CldrDemo_SelectionChanged" OnDayRender="CldrDemo_DayRender">
</asp:Calendar> [code].....
i want to call the event handler for the dropdownlist - selectedIndexchanged and i have added it also like this
protected void ddlBlist_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
}
but this is not getting fire when i am changing the item of the dropdownlist.
i have problem in using ajax control , till morning it everything was file , now when i add any new ajax control it shows the error Control canot be created because visual studio cannot find the control's type in the control assembly then if i press OK it says The operation could not be completed . invalid FORMATETC structure
View 5 RepliesI have a custom DDL that lives in my Server control library. Currently I add this control to a table by strongly typing the name of the control, the customary way.
Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL newDDL = new Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL();
What I want to be able to do is dynamically create that control by pulling the control name from a table. So I would have the name of the control in my code, in this case "Report_NumberDDL", and I would like to then create the control without having to strongly type it.
Something like this, though I know this doesn't work:
string controlName = "Report_NumberDDL";
Control_Library."controlName" controlNum1 = new Control_Library."controlName"();
Edit:I tried to do this:
Type type = Type.GetType("Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL");
object control = Activator.CreateInstance(type);
But on the CreateInstance(type) I get a null value exception. So the Type isn't getting created correctly.
i'm trying to develop a ASP.Net control. If it based on System.Web.UI.Control id doesn't work correctly with Ajax.Net updatePanel. If I change it to System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl the it works fine with Ajax controls. What is the difference between them and how I implement it on Control based Control?
View 2 Replies I have several checkbox controls on my web form that are not server controls (runat="server") How can I access these controls form my C# code? Can this be done with document.GetelementById from the server side using C#? Or some other technique?
I am not allowed to make these server controls (runat=server) because of a requirement.
ive created my own custom control, now in the code behind of the custom control file i can add Name.Click += new EventHandler(name); but on the codebehind of the page where ive used the custom control i cannot, is there anyway i can regsiter it as an available attribute to add? my code below and on the image the test codebehind click is not available, how can i get it?

If a composite server control normally encapsulate styling information inside, it is an example of code encapsulation and modularization. However if css properties are included inside the composite control, it is not ideal for code/styling separation and css code re-use principles. Now which consideration should be the main consideration?
View 2 RepliesI have a custom control that is based off the gridview control located at: here The control is basically a gridview that automatically creates a column of checkboxes that can be used to "check" individual rows in the gridview. During the gridview's "CreateColumns" event, the "checkboxcolumn" is created dynamically. The checkboxcolumn also contains another checkbox in the header that is used to "select/deselect all" checkboxes in the column. Since the gridview does not automatically remember the state of the checkboxes in the checkboxcolumn on postback, I added a method to the control called "SaveCheckBoxState" which stores the indexes of the checked rows in Viewstate, and then I modified the "OnRowDataBound" event to check the Viewstate and reset the checkboxes based on the Viewstate.
I then added a call to "SaveCheckBoxState" in the gridview's OnSorting and OnPageIndexChanging events. This works great so long as I'm sorting or changing pages. However, I need it to update the viewstate everytime someone clicks or unclicks one of the checkboxes. At this time, the checkboxes are rendered with an onclick event that calls some javascript to highlight the row, or in the case of the checkbox in the header, to select/deselect all checkboxes. I need to call the "SaveCheckBoxState" method from the javascript used by the customcontrol, or I need to find a way to modify viewstate from javascript and perform the same action as "SaveCheckBoxState".
I've tried adding the "SaveCheckBoxState" to the onclick event declaration in the checkboxes, but when run, it simply tells me that the method is undefined. It doesn't exist in the parent page, and I don't think I should have to make an event for the parent page to pass the click to. It seems to me this should be all self contained within the custom control. Does anyone know how I can acheive this? Here is the code for the gridview OnPreRender event where the onclick event of the checkbox is set:
protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
{
// Do as usual
base.OnPreRender(e);
// Adjust each data row
foreach (GridViewRow r in Rows)
{
// Get the appropriate style object for the row
TableItemStyle style = GetRowStyleFromState(r.RowState);
// Retrieve the reference to the checkbox
CheckBox cb = (CheckBox)r.FindControl(InputCheckBoxField.CheckBoxID);
// Build the ID of the checkbox in the header
string headerCheckBoxID = String.Format(CheckBoxColumHeaderID, ClientID);
// Add script code to enable selection
cb.Attributes["onclick"] = String.Format("ApplyStyle(this, '{0}', '{1}', '{2}')",
SelectedRowStyle.CssClass,
style.CssClass,
headerCheckBoxID);
// Update the style of the checkbox if checked
if (cb.Checked)
{
r.BackColor = SelectedRowStyle.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = SelectedRowStyle.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = SelectedRowStyle.Font.Bold;
}
else
{
r.BackColor = style.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = style.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = style.Font.Bold;
}
}
}
I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
I need to create a reusable custom control,which is like a form containing a listbox and some fields.The fields can be either textbox or combobox as needed for different applications,which can be selected on the property of the form onwhich page that i am using it,also i needed to specify the number of fields in that property.And also need place 3 buttons below for edit and delete the selected item in the listbox and a button to save.Data will be binded from the database as needed for different applications.
tell me with code how to create it using asp.net server control in C#.
I have 3 panels:
<asp:Panel ID="ParentPanel" runat="server">
<asp:Panel ID="AnnoyingPanel" runat="server">
<asp:Panel ID="P" runat="server">
</asp:Panel>
</asp:Panel>
</asp:Panel>
How can I check if P is child of ParentPanel? Is there some LINQish way to do it?
Is there some more optimized way than the one I provided? Maybe using Linq?
I need to create a user control. This control is so simple. It consists of a "Label" control and a "Textbox" control. The purpose of this control is just to be dropped onto a web page and have a user enter a single value into the textbox portion. This is the only code I have in the code-behind page of the control.
Public MustInherit Class AlbumName
Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl
Private _text As String
Public Property Text() As String
Get
Return _text
End Get
Set(ByVal value As String)
_text = value
End Set
End Property
End Class
I would like to put a recognized event such as a KeyPress event in this control so that I can validate the users input.
I have a webdayview control (Infragistics proprietary ASP.net control) on my page. On the aspx source I've inserted some javascript (webdayview_click - clientside click event) that calls a webmethod in the codebehind. This seems to work fine, but when I
insert this webdayview control into a user control and move the corresponding javascript into the aspx of the user control, it doesn't work. I can't even insert a breakpoint into the javascript function to debug it. Is there a way to make it work? I want to enable the click event of the webdayview control so that when I click on it, the javascript function calls the webmethod. Here's my code (remember it is inside a user control):

I posted this question on the Infragistics forum but didn't get any replies. Hopefully I'll get some here. :)
I'm trying to find a TextBox in the code-behind page, it's inside a nested master page and also then inside another control container (it's inside ctrlCheckoutShippingAddress also) .
I've tried this:

The Ajax control toolkit tab panel automatically inserts a space by all four corners of the body. For example, go to http://www.asp.net/ajax/ajaxcontroltoolkit/Samples/Tabs/Tabs.aspx and look at the TabPanel on the page. The is a space before "Signature:" and "Bio:" labels. How can I set the space-width to 0px; in the tabPanel body?
View 1 RepliesI have a text box that is intended for an Email address. I am using a Regular eExppression validation control to validate the email address. When I place the following lines of code in a blank web Form, the validator works properly.
<asp:TextBox ID="Email" runat="server" CssClass="DefaultTextBox TextboxWidth" MaxLength="80"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="valEmail" runat="server" ControlToValidate="Email" ErrorMessage="Invalid Email address" SetFocusOnError="True" ToolTip="Invalid Email address" ValidationExpression="w+([-+.']w+)*@w+([-.]w+)*.w+([-.]w+)*">*</asp:RegularExpressionValidator`>
However, when I use the validation control within a CreateUserWizard control, it does not seem to fire but other validation controls (Required and Custom validators) do fire, but not the regular expression validator above for validating the address. The following is my complete web page. The two controls above appear unchanged in the code below, they are simply embedded into the wizard control mentioned.

When I click the button to open the modal popup it shows the popup but then continues and forces a postback causing the page to reload and the modal popup to be hidden again.Here is the markup for the control:

My script manager has no properties other than the id and runat set.
I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control
time for some expertise. I have a datalist which contains a radiobutton in the itemtemplate. This radiobutton is disabled (set enabled to false) by default. On the html output I have a checkbox, which, when ticked, enables the radiobuttons through javascript. This is all working fine. The rb's are enabled and I can check them. However when the page is posted back. The checked property is always false.
I use the code below to retrieve the value of this rb:
[Code]....
This code is working fine when the initial state of the radiobuttons set to enabled server side.
