View 2 RepliesI have this code:
$('#' + textboxID).autocomplete({ delay: delay, source: ["cats", "dogs"] });
which works fine.
I want to use a webservice:
$('#' + textboxID).autocomplete({ delay: delay, source: webserviceURL});
This doesn't work. My webservice URL is /blah/blah.asmx/myMethod
The webservice definition is:
[WebMethod]
[ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
public List<string> myMethod(string term)
{
// Logic here, return list of strings
}
The method never gets called. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have other webservices in the same .asmx which work fine with other controls (other controls are using $.ajax to call them).
Edit: Getting closer, I now get a 500 error saying Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/myMethod'. I think it's not treating my url quite right..
I am using autocomplete extender in my project with the external webservice. The problem what I am facing is I need to pass credentials to connect to the webservice, as this service is hosted in different domain.
View 4 RepliesI have been trying for two months to get this code working, and I am close, but still confused. I want the JQuery UI Autocomplete function to call an web service which returns JSON data and display that data for selection, and on selection put the selected value into a hidden field.
There are several issues:
1) The autocomplete function is not firing
2) The source: "/AutoSuggest.asmx/DOTFind?" line throws an invalid object exception
3) The service requires two parameters: (string prefixText, int count) - count tells it how many records to return.
4) I am not at all certain that this code will accept JSON data that comes back from the service
Here is the code:

Setup: I have a RadioButtonList with two listitems (One Street, the other Schools). These define what type of search I want. I textbox with associated autocomplete. First you select which search to complete, and then start typing and the autocomplete will make . Autocomplete goes out to ashx webservice which pulls a list from the database.
I have tested the webserver and it works properly, so I'm thinking the problem is with my jQuery UI autocomplete. <div id="divSelectOne" style="padding:8px 3px 8px 3px; border-bottom:1px dotted #cccccc; background:#f9f9f9;"> <span style="font-weight:bold; color:#369;">Select One:</span><br />
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="radSelect" runat="server" RepeatDirection="Horizontal">
<asp:ListItem Text=" Street, City, Zip or Subdivision" Value="Street" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Text=" School" Value="Schools"></asp:ListItem>

con.ConnectionString = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["HMSDBConnectionString"].ToString();
con.Open();
MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataAdapter da = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataAdapter(sql, con);
da.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("@prefixText", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 50).Value = prefixText + "%";
System.Data.DataTable dt = new System.Data.DataTable();
da.Fill(dt);
string[] items = new string[dt.Rows.Count];
int i = 0;
foreach (System.Data.DataRow dr in dt.Rows)

items.SetValue(dr["P_NAME"].ToString(), i);
i++;
}
return items;

View 1 RepliesI want to create a very simple WebService, which will be deployed on SharePoint Farm 1 and will be accessed by SharePoint Farm 2. The WebService will be responsible for querying all the ContentTypes and returning the result to the Farm 2. I don't know the basics of creating the WebService in SharePoint.

View 8 RepliesI am writting a client applicatin that acesses a webservice written by another company. I need to test against this webservice but since it is live I need another place to test with. I don't have access to the code from the webservice but have added a reference to my project. I would like to create a test platform using C# which will run on IIS and not Java. I have created a basic webserive using both the NetBeans platform and the VS/C# platform. The problem I am having is if I dynamically change the web address from one to the other my client application complains that the webservice is invalid. I have verified all the calls are the same.
Are there any setting with VS/C# that allow me to configure it to behave more like the Java webservice? I don't have the server support to host the Java application for full testing along with other problems using the Java version. I have run both services in the "WCF Test Client" and can see where the WCF service uses the varibles for request and the Java uses body/request but can't get the WCF to follow that format. I read somewhere about changing the OperationContract with SoapRpcMethod but then the mentod is not longer exposed. I also tried a Web Service in .NET 3.5 instead of a WCF server but that seems to be more trouble and does not help.
Error message:
The message with Action '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to a ContractFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. This may be because of either a contract mismatch (mismatched Actions between sender and receiver) or a binding/security mismatch between the sender and the receiver. Check that sender and receiver have the same contract and the same binding (including security requirements, e.g. Message, Transport, None).
I have a webservice that a developer can use to create a user account, apart of the create user account form, it requires an input of the user's "Postal Address"The Postal address has "Country State Id"Normally, I would provide a list for everything else, but when it comes to country state list it contains thousands and thousands of states/regions and its too much to list in a API specification document.
So my question is, 1) do you create a web service for the developer to retrieve the country state id?
or 2) provide the developer with a database file, with the list of country state id?
I'm using jQuery AutoComplete Plugin in ASP.Net as outlined in the article below, so that as a user types in a .Net textbox they get a list of options to choose them. This works fine, but what I need to do now is call a server side function when the user has finished typing or has choosen a value, rather than the user having to submit the value by pressing a button.

I'm pretty new in the world of ASP.Net, but not on developing in general. I created a webservice which read data from a SQl-database. This works fine. Now I want to create a customer website which uses the webservice to read those data. I need to do this periodically, say every 10 seconds.
The profiler on the database and debugging the website tells me that the values are read good, even is they are changed in de database. But, I need to display those values on a label, but this won't work, only with a meta-refresh every 10 seconds.Is there a way to use a timer and refreshes labels ?
I am using an Active Directory DirectorySearcher to populate a DataTable and GridView so I can make a sort of "Phone List", very similar to the following post: [URL] What I also want to do is use a ComboBox with Append AutoComplete mode to easily filter this phonelist. However, what datasource am I supposed to bind the ComboBox to?
