I have a couple of dropdownlists and a button.when a user selects an item in the 1st dropdownlist, the 2nd dropdown is programmatically bound to a set of items(using an ajax request) depending on the value selected in the 1st dropdown. Then the user will have the ability to choose an item from the 2nd dropdown and click on the button, which performs some server side opeartions and returns the results.
But if the user tries to click on the button before the 2nd dropdown list is populated, user will receive an exception message.Instead of that I would like to prevent the user from clicking the button before the ajax request is completed to populate the 2nd dropdown.I tried using Button1.Enabled=false in the selectedvaluechanged event of 1st dropdown, which does n't seem to work.
I have a Gridview that has a button at the left hand side representing the row number. The Gridview has two textboxes and a dropdown listbox as templates. I would like to enable or disable the textboxes and the dropdown listbox if the row is not selected. I also need to enable or disable the templates depending on what the value is of one of the cells. When the templates are changed, I need to save the changes.
I have been able to get this working in the RowDataBound Sub but not in the RowCommand Sub when the row is selected. provide an example in VB.My current RowDataBoundSub, which does no work is below:
Protected Sub PropGrid_RowCommand(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewCommandEventArgs) Handles PropGrid.RowCommand[code]....
My current RowDataBound Sub, which is working is below:
Protected Sub PropGrid_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles PropGrid.RowDataBound [code]....
the code for getting the dropdown selected values (both TextField and ValueField) in MVC Controller class.
This is my case, I have a dropdown filled with Product category. Its having default value as "--Select--". I want validate this dropdown selected any values or not in controller action method. How will i do this stuff?
I have a masterpage on which i displays groups that user can access now i want to gets its selected value in other controllers for saving with the records. I want to know if it is possible in asp.net mvc 2 and if not then what is the way around for it
I want to take a file...say [URL]. It's not my site, it's some other site. I want to be able to open the HTML page source and look at it and possibly parse through it for something. I don't want to change it or do anything like that, I just want to parse through it.
Here's what I want to use it for. I want to grab the box score for a particular game, parse through the HTML source code and grab the individual stats for each player. Then use those numbers in my web app. I've done it for VB6 where it downloads the html file to my computer, opens it up and goes through it. But I'm not sure how to make it work on the web side. Does it make a copy of the html page on my site, then open it and parse it or is there some other way to go through it. I'm not sure really sure how to start it.
I am having a dropdown server control on view, when the user clicks the submit btn at that time the form gets posted. and a action method in view controller is called with verb=post.
But the problem is that how should i get reference to the dropdown server control in the action method of view controller?
I am currently writing an MVC app and currently only have one master page. I would like to add a dropdownlist to my main page and on selection of this to be able to switch the master page used. Has anyone acheived this before. I am unsure of how to force the onchange in the dropdown to fire some code behind in my controller.
I've a controller with different actions that calls the DB code and return result. I want to pass the value of text box to different actions in controller.
How to do it? I know that, I can pass values by using form. But, I don't to know how to call different actions in controller from single view.
I pick up on the nerddinners examples, following Professional.ASP.NET.MVC wrox book. but now i'm doing some modifications for my own account. On traditionl ASP.net it was possible to interact with html elements (divs, textbox, etc... )On MVC 2 is that possible or any interaction with html must be done with jquery and how? Because i'm trying to manipulate an html element on my Controller page(DinnerController.ASPX and i had no reference to html div, as i initially supose.
I am working on a project in ASP.Net MVC3 and this model of development is quite new to me, but I think I am starting to get the hang of it.
In my project, I am creating a dynamic array of <input type="check"... Checkboxes. From my understanding, when sending form data it should be processed in the Controller using <form method="post"....
So my question is: what is the best way to go about consuming a dynamic amount of HTML objects sent in the post data? What I am doing right now is looping through all the controls sent VIA: post and parsing the dynamic ones by the ID name. This method seems highly suspect in terms of coding practice. It does work, but I am wondering what the "norm" is for this sort of proceedure?
In a webforms application, it's possible to add a server control to the markup and then access that control from the corresponding code behind file, but I'm not sure of the MVC equivalent of this functionality.
I've been looking at some tutorials, and it appears that in MVC applications, instead of using server controls, the examples are using HTML helpers, such as Html.TextBox, etc.
However, while I can find examples html helpers in views, I can't find any examples of how these helpers are accessed in the controllers, so I've declared an Html.TextBox in my view but don't know how to access its value in the controller when I hit enter.
I can't find the namespace where it's stored - in the view code I can execute Html.TextBox(<name>, <contents>, <html attribs>) and Html.DropDownList(<name>, <select list contents>, <html attribs>) but how do I execute these methods in controller code?
In case you are wondering why on earth I want to do this, rather than using the TextBox object, I execute Html.TextBox(....).ToString() and create html code from these objects.
UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Iterative Development, that follows the UP(Unified Process). It uses a Grasp Controller pattern to interact with domain classes by some methods like NewSale(), AddNewItemToSale() and CloseSale. In windows form, I can instantiate a object of this class in the UI and then use its methods to perform the actions. This works well in Client apps, but when I use asp.net mvc, I cannot find a way to instantiate an object (one for each user) that was always visible for a Controller (MVC). I cannot insert as an attribute inside Controller because it always create a new one.
Also I have a dropdownlist, how do I call the controller's action after I click the "Submit" button?
And how do I pass the Model back to the controller action as well?
The reason I want to pass back the model (or other object/class) to controller's action is I might have 5 dropdown lists and 3 edit boxes values to be sent as parameters. So I would like to assign these parameters into a object and send it back to controller's action.
My ascx is pretty big & I'd like to reuse it, changing controller/method in Html.ActionLink with another controller/method. Method of another controller has the same signature as PersonController.Publications. Whats best way how to make controller/method configurable for my layout.
How does a controller action return an HTML stream as the View? ( in place of the name of the View file )
I want to return a simple "error detected" or "action completed" page to the browser. And I dont want to clutter up my project with yet another view. The return string being "<html><body><h1>Error. Customer xxxx is not found</h1></body></html>"
( thinking about it, better to have a general purpose view in a folder named "Common". Then pass the message text in ViewData. Still curious to know how to return an html stream. )
