MVC :: DropDownList And Master Page - Force The Onchange In The Dropdown To Fire Some Code Behind In Controller
May 14, 2010
I am currently writing an MVC app and currently only have one master page. I would like to add a dropdownlist to my main page and on selection of this to be able to switch the master page used. Has anyone acheived this before. I am unsure of how to force the onchange in the dropdown to fire some code behind in my controller.
I'm trying to display a confirm message box before firing selectedIndexChanged when user change selection in the dropDownList. I was wondering if anyone would an example of how to do this.
for some very special reason i want to click on a button in masterpage.aspx firing the event of code-behind without having reloaded masterpage.master.cs (starting page_load()).
I create a dropDownList in code-behind, in selectIndexChange of another dropDownList, and add this new dropDownList to page using a placerHolder, everthing its ok, but new dropdownlist selectIndexChange event dont fire!
I have a country dropdown and a city dropdown.I am filling the country dropdown at the time of page load and showing the city dropdown blank. On the "onChange()" event of the country drop down I am filling the city dropdown according to the country id.
My problem is that after the postback of the page on the "onChange()" event , I am not getting the selected country name(i am getting the "--select country--"). How can i solve this problem.I am waiting for your response.
Everything works fine when manually done. As an option is selected, the onchange code is called.
The problem begins when I try to change the selected value using a piece of Javscript. I want to be able to automatically change the selected option using JS, whilst still having the onchange code called, exactly as if done manually.
I try calling this:
form.SList.value = "33";
The right option is selected, but the onchange code does not get called. So then I try doing this:
In MS Access there is a great method call 'dropdown', you set the focus to the control, mycontrol.setfocus and then call mycontrol.dropdown, really useful when using cascading dropdowns.
Is there a similar method in asp.net or how would I get the dropdownlist to dropdown through code?
New to MVC and jquery. I have a dropdownlist on my page and want to populate another field on the page, depending on what is selected from the dropdownlist. The data to be displayed in the other field needs to be retrieved from the database using the value of the selected item. I have found similar posts and have implemented the following, which doesnt seem to work.
I realize the action isnt correct, but at this point I can even into the action. I cant determine if the onchange is not firing or if there is some other problem.
I'm building an application that creates bar code images based on the number of selected rows in a GridView. It counts out 6 bar codes and the corresponding labels, and then it needs to force a page break when my counter hits "6".
How do you force a page break from your server side (VB page-behind) code in ASP.NET?
Can you change the pagestyle from the code-behind? I wanted to try : "pagestyle = "page-break-before:always" - but it was not an option in the intelisense menu...
I have 3 security question drop down menus. I have javascript on the ASPX page that removes questions/repopulates them when you select a questions (so you cannot reselect the questions in the other 2 boxes). This works wonderfully when a user is editing their profile with already selected questions. However, when a user first selects the questions where all three boxes are listing "select a question" at selectedIndex 0, the onChange doesn't fire. The function won't even go. I think this has a big something to do with the on change from selected index of 0. I have debugged this thing and it doesn't even enter the function. I even set the onchange action to flash an alert. It just seems something is going wrong when i try to action onchange from selected index of 0.
My computer system froze on me, the mouse froze, cntrl-alt-del, did nothing, so I reset it. Did a disk check, and now everything seems fine except for my master Page html code which I was in the middle of editing when it happened. The VB code-behind file is still ok, the designer file still shows ok with all of the controls in it, but I can't get into desgn or source view. It just opens and gives a whole page of hesixecimal code such as as:
I have applied nested master page to some page. Now i want to bind drop downlist from value selected in dropdown list in master page of master applied to that page.
the hierarchy of pages is
mypage.aspx -> main.aspx -> inner.master
I want bind dropdown list in mypage.aspx from from value selected in dropdown list in inner.master
I have a gridview and dropdownlist, let say the content of dropdownlist is YEAR and the content of gridview is Name and Year. Now for everytime I change the Value of dropdownlist the content of gridview will change but it will not load the page
I've created a UserControl that is dynamically placed onto my page during the Init event. It populates and works great, but I'm left scratching my head at how to retrieve data from it during a postback.
It's effectively a multipick combobox that is manipulated entirely using clientside JavaScript (I'm using jQuery heavily). Inside the control container element, I render an empty DIV element that contains all of the selected items. As the user selects items, I generate DIVs within that container DIV that includes some markup. Of interest to me on the server side are the contents of a couple of INPUT fields.
After selecting an item, the rendered HTML looks something like:
[code]....
I may be completely off track and this may actually be impossible (or a stupid idea). The only alternative I can think of is to emit actual ASP.NET controls and hook the built-in event handlers.
I m trying to stop the postback causing by ddl. I have tried the following code but still pb doesnt stop:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var ddlSubCategory = document.getElementById("ctl00_m_g_73a5a887_bd36_4a37_966a_ed640c804a84_ctl00_ctl04_ctl09_ctl00_ctl00_ctl04_ctl00_ctl00_SubCategory"); //Get this form html source ddlSubCategory.removeAttribute("onchange"); //Here "onchange" attribute causes post back </script>
I am populating an asp.net listview control from my page_load event. Unfortunately, due to my projects requirements, I have to use a third party control within my listviews ItemTemplate that needs to have database values written to its attributes before my listview control is bound, if this is not the case my control flags a null reference exception error. From some investigation into the listview control, it seems that the only way to do this is through my listviews ItemDataBound event as my thrid party control will hold different value depending on each row.was wondering if it's at all possible to force my listviews ItemDataBound event to fire before I call mylistview.databind();?
I need to trigger a C# code behind function right after an ASP.NET page is completely displayed. Is there an event to program? If not, do how to do it?
I am Unable to customize a menu bar in the master page, so that it is at the middle, and extending to width of the page, like in [URL]. But when i customized a drop down menu bar and trying to align, i am unable to figure out how to do it such that it appears as the above example, find code below. I uploaded my code onto this link, its all in txt file, so take a look at it as when i try to post the code here, it is automatically turning it into a webpage.
