Error / Could Not Find Permission Set Named
May 7, 2012
Trying to move a project from Windows Server 2000 and IIS 6 to Winders Server 2008 and IIS 7. I am getting the following error:
Could not find permission set named 'ASP.Net'
AppPool is set to .NET 4.0. I don't see a setting in the actual application though like you had to do in IIS 6?

I am using a web method to submit my form data , having Oracle DataBase. And in my local development machine every thing is fine.I am successfully able to submit my form data asynchronously through a web method. But the same project when deployed to test server then while submiting form date there an error occurs as stated above. One field in the table is of DataTime type, and i am inserting server's date into that field, all other fields are of type varchar2 or int. I googled about that but it seems that no one has got such error.

two weeks ago I read a MSDN(?) article how to grant/revoke permission for some users/roles/groups on a specific page or holder temporarily or with condion. The article shows how to do it Form_Load() in c#. But I can't find the link with googling or in MSDN library.
Please let me know if you know the url?
What I want to do is:
There is a folder called employeePDFs.
The folder will have 1000s employees' sub folder ({lastname}{firstname}{employeeID}). Each folder will have very personal indivual PDF files which are manually uploaded.
If an employee logs on, then the logon employee can view a page which has a list of PDF files in his own folder only.
Those PDF files can be assessed only by the user.

I have a solution in Visual Studio 2008 with 3 projects. One Web Application and 2 class libraries. The entity framework model is in a class library and the start project is the web application.
I used to have this problem:
"The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration, not intended to be used with the EntityClient provider, or not valid."
I fixed it copying the connection string from the App.config of the class library where the entity model is located to the web.config of my web application (start project).
I found that workaround posted here:
[URL]
how can i avoid using the connection string from the web.config and use the one from the app.config where the entity model is located?

I will try and be brief, I am finding when trying to create a custom route with a name and url of properties that my ASP.NET MVC app is returning a 404 file not found when hitting the route.I have deduced this down to most likely be caused by the fact I have a folder on disk called Properties which is of course a common asp.net folder which is automatically created. I have found someone else who has suffered from this problem on SO, but looks like there has been no resolution, only to name your route something different!
Surely this is an oversight, or there must be a workaround? Obviously there will be many common directories you may need as routes and/or folders interchangeably, some of which we already know like Properties probably can't be deleted! I also understand we need to honor real folders as URLs too, but I feel routing should take priority before looking at folders on disk.

sing VS 2008 at a workstation, I have successfully developed a local, file-system ASP.NET 3.5 website. The wbesite included a membership page with Windows authentication and a web parts page. The SQL Server 2005 ASPNETDB database has been created at an IIS web servr. Using the ASP.Net development server of the workstation, both the membership Membership/WebParts pages at the local website worked very well.
Then, I copied the website to a virtual directory at the IIS web server and creates a remote website for the workstation. Under theASP.NET development server of the workstation, both membership and webparts pages of the remote website at the IIS web server also worked fine.
However, when running these web pages from the IIS web server machine, something wrong happened with the web parts page. (The membership page still worked very well.) For the ASPNETDB database at the IIS web server machine, there is an EXECUTE permission error on an ASPNET stored procedure.
What are the differences between the ASP.NET development server and IIS web sever, which caused the EXECUTE permission error on the ASP.NET S.P.? How to find and fix the errors?

I had to format my hard disk and reinstall the Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise and SQL 2005 Standardprograms.
While my program worked perfectly before and still works ok on my second computer, I get the following error message on the formated computer:
Parser Error Message: Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Parameter' does not have a public property named 'DbType'.
Source Error:
Line 82: <asp:Parameter Name="Olho" Type="String" />
Line 83: <asp:Parameter Name="image" Type="String" />
Line 84: <asp:Parameter DbType="Date" Name="inicio" />
Line 85: <asp:Parameter DbType="Date" Name="termino" />
Line 86: <asp:Parameter Name="pageId" Type="Int32" />
Source File: /0_oserigrafico/Default.aspx Line: 84
In this case I use a datasource control for a datalist and the parameter list is being built ba the system.
The DBType is created for the smalldatetime feild
how do I add the property named 'DbType'.

I am getting the error message "SELECT permission denied on object 'MyTable', database 'MyDB', owner 'dbo'.", when trying to run a small asp.net application via a browser where i work.
I built it on my local machine(VS 2008, C#) and transferred over to an IIS server(i.e. Windows Server 2003) and I have also enabled the application folder in IIS.
It runs fine on my local machine. Connection string in web.config on my local machine <add name="connstring" connectionString="Data Source=DBASE;Initial Catalog=MyDB;Integrated Security=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
on the server, connection string is <.......;User Id=userid;Password="mypassword" />.
But when i swapped connection string on server to use <Integrated Security=true>, and tried to run from a browser again, i get:
Login failed for user 'SVRSERVERNAME$'
I have a couple of other apps I built in the past and they are running fine, I didn't do anything special, just transferred them as normal to server and ran through browser
In fact, one of my previous apps even uses the same table and database. but with this new app, I don't know why it wouldn't work even though it runs perfect on my local machine
I can access the database manually from SQL Management studio, i connect to it using my Windows account or the given username/password credentials.
Other thing I noticed, when I changed the connection string on my local machine web.config to use <User Id=userid;Password="mypassword">, i then get same error as if it was running from the server:
SELECT permission denied on object 'MyTable', database 'MyDB', owner 'dbo'.

I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason?When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message.My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.

I am writing an internal web app for a company who wont to use their existing Active Directory Logins (rather than a seperate SQL Database User Login Table).
To do this I have done the following
web.config
<authentication mode="Windows">
<identity impersonate="true"/>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
<!-- Allow Public Users to Access -->
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>
<roleManager enabled="true"
defaultProvider="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider"/>
End
This seems to work on my localhost but I have a couple of questions for you guys.
1) How does this process know which active directory to authenticate against? I know in code you can do
LdapAuthentication adAuth = new LdapAuthentication("LDAP://Server");
But there seems to be no way to do this in the web.config (I'm guessing it will just use the active directory on current machine it's running on?). Is there away to specify which active directory I'd like it to authenticate against?
2) If a user tries to access this remotely (i.e. not on their native windows account) what will happen, will it just default to a login form or just throw a "Permission Denied" error?

how I can correct an error. I've built the MVCMusicStore tutorial here:
http://mike-ciccone.com/Store/
The first time I visit the site and attempt a database connection I get this error:
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
But when I refresh, it all works fine. I'm at a bit of a loss. I don't believe I'm attempting to create a database, but I realise that the error may not really have anything to do with that. This is hosted at GoDaddy shared hosting. The database was created and I used an SQL script to create the tables initially and populate the data. My connection string works as I can pull data from the database, but I do have
a feeling it will be a web.config setting that will correct this.

Here is my code
[Code]....
"fileUpload" is the FileUpload ASP.NET control. The SaveAs method writes the user uploaded file to a specified location on the server. IT WORKS. That tells me that the ASP.NET process has the proper write permission to write to the file.The next line uses an assembly called PdfSharp which you can use to open PDF files and manipulate them. In this case, the line simply opens up the user uploaded file. That is where the error occurs. WTH?
It works on my production machine. It does not work on my local machine. It USED TO. It was never a problem before.So why would it be fine to WRITE to the server, but trying to open a file give an error? Makes no sense. Googling yields a suggestion to put <trust level="Full" originUrl="" /> under <system.web> in web.config. It does not work.

I'm having issues when trying to run my web app. I'm getting an expression expected error at runtime on the portion of my code that is designed to retain the screen position of multiple drag panels.
Code:
var target = $this).attr("id");
should return the id of the uniquely named panel so it can be used later in code to identify the _DragPanelExtender.BehaviorID
Code:
$find('<%=' + target + '_DragPanelExtender.BehaviorID%>').set_location(new Sys.UI.Point(parseInt(temp[0]), parseInt(temp[1])));
I haven't been able to verify if the dragPanel's id name is being used, it just errors out here. In the following code, I am attempting to preserve the position of multiple dragPanel's after postback?
Code:
function pageLoad() {
//get element id name of button clicked
var target = $(this).attr("id");
// call the savePanelPosition when the panel is moved
$find(target).add_move(savePanelPosition);
var elem = $get("<%=HiddenField1.ClientID%>");

I have a SSO application that runs on IIS which works fine on my own office and several other customers but this one specific customer keep getting this error in image below. I know the following settings are required for this specific SSO to work: Windows Authentication with no Anonymous access, set browser security settings to login with logged in user's credentials. The exception says "Could not find email for [BjoJon001]/[Domain nameBjoJon001]". Shouldn't it be just [Domain nameBjoJon001]? Could something in their specific Active Directory be weird? I'm guessing this line is throwing the exception
Code:
If UserFound.GetDirectoryEntry().Properties.Item("mail").Value.ToString.Trim = "" Then
Throw New Exception("Hittade ingen E-postadress for anvndare")
End If
