Strange System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException
Error at the transport level when sending a request to the server. (Provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - Since both ends of the canal there are no processes.)
I've got this exception on my Web Site every time after restarting my SqlServer on simple request like this :
if (System.Web.HttpContext.Current.User.IsInRole("Administrator"))
but after I do refresh the page with this codebehind error disappears.
How to handle this error and where it comes from ?

I m having a database problem that I couldnt identify. The IIS loses connection to database once in 3 weeks. Once you restart the IIS everything is normal. Looks like IIS is fine because i can go to static pages. When I go to a page that requires database connection I get this error:
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Is this a connection string problem?. because without changing anything if I restart the webserver all is fine. Is this a problem with application state?

Have an application which publishes XML data across webservice using SOAP.
The data is pulled directly from an Oracle database and parsed into XML but for some reason the data being pulled out of the DB is throwing the following invalid XML exception.
Have done a bit of research and it looks like it may be a NULL character somewhere in the data which XML parser doesn't like.
Just wondering if anyone had seen this before and if so were they able to fix it at application or database layer?
Here's stack trace...
[code]....
UPDATE: Here is a selection of data being published.Just plain text basically, this is how it exists in database columns, have included as comma separated.

This is my first time trying to send a SOAP request in C#. When I click the Test button I should be passing a XML string to the web services and then getting a response. The lblTransactionNum label updates with "System.Net.ConnectStream" when it should be returning a transaction number within an unparsed response.
I'm not sure if the way I went about this is ideal but it is just from what I learned searching.
Here is my code

what I am missing? I have a desktop application that uses this web service in the same way but it is in VB.
Here is the VBscript from the desktop app if it contains some extra parsing steps that I will have to add to the C# for my web application but right now I am just trying to get the SOAP request and response wired up.

I am using an SMS Gateway to make my application receive SMSs. For this, the SMS Gateway sends a request to one of the pages in my application with the message as a querystring parameter. eg.[URL]. Now after my page gets invoked, I need to send an OK response to the SMS Gateway so that it doesn't keep retrying to send the same message to my application again and again. I cannot figure out how to send the OK response.

Im trying to send some xml inside a soap request to a webservice using the HttpWebRequest class. I know this isnt the best way, but my hands are tied by company policy so i have to do it this way. My webmethod has an input parameter "SourceXML" so my soap request has this node
<SourceXML></SourceXML>
I need to insert the xml in this node but whenver I insert it and try to send it to my web method I get an error "400 bad request"
Is this even possible ? I need to insert the xml as a string literal and read it in the web method

Using a Windows application I am sending a web request to a web page and getting the response back using the following code
HttpWebRequest oRequest1 = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
oRequest1.ContentType = "text/xml";
using (Stream stream = oRequest1.GetRequestStream())
{
stream.Write(fileBytes1, 0, fileBytes2.Length); //fileBytes1 - contains the data of first request
}
HttpWebResponse Response1 = (HttpWebResponse)oRequest1.GetResponse();
->The above code works fine
But I need to enhance the code to accomodate following additional scenario
->Send another request to the same web app and
->get the response back
The first request sent contains the credentials to access the web application the second request sent doesn't have credentials, it must use the credentials of first request. I am using the same (following) code for the second request too. I get an error saying that it's looking for credentials
HttpWebRequest oRequest2 = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
oRequest2.ContentType = "text/xml";
using (Stream stream = oRequest2.GetRequestStream())
{
stream.Write(fileBytes2, 0, fileBytes2.Length);
}
HttpWebResponse Response2 = (HttpWebResponse)oRequest2.GetResponse();
So how do I accomplish this? Should I be sending the second request using same session or same connection?

I am calling a web service (written in Java) in my web app. I use the WSDL to generate proxy classes using the wsdl.exe command line tool.
Everything is working fine.
However, I have found out that the web service is not doing any data validation at all when they receive a request from my app. Hence, if I happen to send one minute piece of data that isn't exactly what they want, I receive a general fault error in return, with no specifics at all of what the incorrect (if any) piece of data is.
So, before I make the request, I'd like to validate my request against the schema they have provided. Is this possible, and if so, how do I go about this?

I am trying to Upload data from Excel file. Transfer data from Excel file to XML file and passed it to Store procedure. And insert the record into database.I also set the timeout for command to zero. when i upload 1 to 500 rows its working fine and when I upload the 10000 rows than its takes time but upload all the users successfully at localhost. But when I upload the code to remote srever,than its only upload upto 300 or 400 rows.After uploading these users it will gives the error of Request Time Out . Even more if I tried to upload 50000 rows its give me the error of 'Maximum Length Exceeded'. Can anyone tell me what the maximum size of Excel sheet to upload the users. How I can get rid of the Request Time Out Issue. How I can Increase the server response time.

Customer were getting "View State Validation Error" due to worker process recycling at our production webserver and to fix that i applied machinekey and then move my Session state Mode from In Proc to State Server to retain session data and not kick out the customer to relogin. I had serialization issue with one object which has to be stored in session but when i moved it out of session i could able to resolve the issue.
But doing all these i was partly successfull in keeping the user in their session when Worker Process recycle event occurs.I was able to refresh the page or make a post back by clicking the refresh button and also able to retain the session values. But the Problem occurs when sending asynchronous request to server which we do periodically every 15 minutes from the moment the user logs in.The web page doesnot update data on website when sending asynchronous request.By Debugging I found at this particular code point it fails to make a postback which is required.
<%=GetHintFromServer%> (When there is no Worker Process recycle i t gets replaced by
WebForm_DoCallback('__Page',message,ShowHint,null,null,false) on postback) Everything works fine when there is no Worker Process Recyling but when it happens looks like sending request asynchronously using javascript fails .Remember When I make a post back by manually clicking submit button everything works fine.
SendRequest(Asynchronous)
function SendRequest(msg, isBusy, chartMsg, vesselMsg)
{
try
{
//confirm("msg"+msg+"isBusy"+isBusy+"chartMsg"+chartMsg+"VesselMsg"+vesselMsg);
_busy = isBusy;
if(chartMsg != null)
{
//confirm("chartMsg"+chartMsg);
_element.SetMessage(true, chartMsg);
}
if(vesselMsg != null)
{
confirm("chartMsg"+vesselMsg);
_element.ShowVesselLoading(true, vesselMsg);
}
_stuckWatchdog = setTimeout( "ClearPendingRequest();", 60000);
var message = msg;
var context = '';
<%=GetHintFromServer%>
}
catch(e)
{
alert( "Exception error on SendRequest(): " + e);
}
}

Currently, I am exploring options for sending data to the client. What I am hoping for is suggestions, or a pros and cons feedback.
What I am wanting to do is query the database then send this data to a web service ( or maybe wcf ). Once there, jquery ( or another JS library ) will utilize this data to fill a grid/tree/form depending. This all seems very very basic, but what concerns me is the amount of data that can be sent. I have seen some grids that have 16K records...and what worries me is that would be WAY too much data to send.
I was just wondering how these things are handled. My current thoughts are to do a 'onDemand' loading, but my inexperience has me second guessing. Also, I know this isn't directly related to jquery, but I notice there are a lot more examples with wcf rather than webmethod/web services.Is wcf better for these types of things?

I am trying to add Failed Request Tracing to my IIS 7/ASP.NET server.
First, I create failed request tracing for "all content, error codes 400-999" because want to save all errors.
Then, I try to create a trace for "all content, time: 5 seconds" because I want to trace all "long" requests. However, IIS 7 gives me an error: "A failed request trace for this content already exists".How can I add this second trace for all content that takes > 5 seconds?
