I m having a database problem that I couldnt identify. The IIS loses connection to database once in 3 weeks. Once you restart the IIS everything is normal. Looks like IIS is fine because i can go to static pages. When I go to a page that requires database connection I get this error:
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Is this a connection string problem?. because without changing anything if I restart the webserver all is fine. Is this a problem with application state?
Does Response.Redirect equate to sending a GET request to the server?

Error at the transport level when sending a request to the server. (Provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - Since both ends of the canal there are no processes.)
I've got this exception on my Web Site every time after restarting my SqlServer on simple request like this :
if (System.Web.HttpContext.Current.User.IsInRole("Administrator"))
but after I do refresh the page with this codebehind error disappears.
How to handle this error and where it comes from ?
am connecting online database in my website. whenever forms in idle one shows in server side. after refereshing that error cleared.what is the problem. that like thisA transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
View 1 RepliesCustomer were getting "View State Validation Error" due to worker process recycling at our production webserver and to fix that i applied machinekey and then move my Session state Mode from In Proc to State Server to retain session data and not kick out the customer to relogin. I had serialization issue with one object which has to be stored in session but when i moved it out of session i could able to resolve the issue.
But doing all these i was partly successfull in keeping the user in their session when Worker Process recycle event occurs.I was able to refresh the page or make a post back by clicking the refresh button and also able to retain the session values. But the Problem occurs when sending asynchronous request to server which we do periodically every 15 minutes from the moment the user logs in.The web page doesnot update data on website when sending asynchronous request.By Debugging I found at this particular code point it fails to make a postback which is required.
<%=GetHintFromServer%> (When there is no Worker Process recycle i t gets replaced by
WebForm_DoCallback('__Page',message,ShowHint,null,null,false) on postback) Everything works fine when there is no Worker Process Recyling but when it happens looks like sending request asynchronously using javascript fails .Remember When I make a post back by manually clicking submit button everything works fine.
SendRequest(Asynchronous)
function SendRequest(msg, isBusy, chartMsg, vesselMsg)
{
try
{
//confirm("msg"+msg+"isBusy"+isBusy+"chartMsg"+chartMsg+"VesselMsg"+vesselMsg);
_busy = isBusy;
if(chartMsg != null)
{
//confirm("chartMsg"+chartMsg);
_element.SetMessage(true, chartMsg);
}
if(vesselMsg != null)
{
confirm("chartMsg"+vesselMsg);
_element.ShowVesselLoading(true, vesselMsg);
}
_stuckWatchdog = setTimeout( "ClearPendingRequest();", 60000);
var message = msg;
var context = '';
<%=GetHintFromServer%>
}
catch(e)
{
alert( "Exception error on SendRequest(): " + e);
}
}

I have a folder structure that is odd and I need to find a way to deal with. Example, if you go to site.com/x/y/z/, I would like to have a script in the /x folder that grabs all incoming requests, even if the request was to /x/y/filename or /x/y/z/1/2/filename. Is it possible?
View 1 RepliesWhen uploading a file over 4mb I receive error: maximum request length exceeded. This is fine - I don't want users to upload files any larger. But, anyone know how to handle the error in a clean way? It appears I can't avoid it with an IF statement or Try/Catch block.
View 1 RepliesHave an application which publishes XML data across webservice using SOAP.
The data is pulled directly from an Oracle database and parsed into XML but for some reason the data being pulled out of the DB is throwing the following invalid XML exception.
Have done a bit of research and it looks like it may be a NULL character somewhere in the data which XML parser doesn't like.
Just wondering if anyone had seen this before and if so were they able to fix it at application or database layer?
Here's stack trace...
[code]....
UPDATE: Here is a selection of data being published.Just plain text basically, this is how it exists in database columns, have included as comma separated.

This is my first time trying to send a SOAP request in C#. When I click the Test button I should be passing a XML string to the web services and then getting a response. The lblTransactionNum label updates with "System.Net.ConnectStream" when it should be returning a transaction number within an unparsed response.
I'm not sure if the way I went about this is ideal but it is just from what I learned searching.
Here is my code

what I am missing? I have a desktop application that uses this web service in the same way but it is in VB.
Here is the VBscript from the desktop app if it contains some extra parsing steps that I will have to add to the C# for my web application but right now I am just trying to get the SOAP request and response wired up.

I am trying to send data to my code behind method. It works except when I add to the data param.

UPDATE: After seeing what client side errors were being thrown it seems that the ID is undefined. Is my method of getting the elements ID incorrect? Keep in mind I am using jsTree and ca I possibly use (obj)?
I am using an SMS Gateway to make my application receive SMSs. For this, the SMS Gateway sends a request to one of the pages in my application with the message as a querystring parameter. eg.[URL]. Now after my page gets invoked, I need to send an OK response to the SMS Gateway so that it doesn't keep retrying to send the same message to my application again and again. I cannot figure out how to send the OK response.
View 1 RepliesIm trying to send some xml inside a soap request to a webservice using the HttpWebRequest class. I know this isnt the best way, but my hands are tied by company policy so i have to do it this way. My webmethod has an input parameter "SourceXML" so my soap request has this node
<SourceXML></SourceXML>
I need to insert the xml in this node but whenver I insert it and try to send it to my web method I get an error "400 bad request"
Is this even possible ? I need to insert the xml as a string literal and read it in the web method

Using a Windows application I am sending a web request to a web page and getting the response back using the following code
HttpWebRequest oRequest1 = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
oRequest1.ContentType = "text/xml";
using (Stream stream = oRequest1.GetRequestStream())
{
stream.Write(fileBytes1, 0, fileBytes2.Length); //fileBytes1 - contains the data of first request
}
HttpWebResponse Response1 = (HttpWebResponse)oRequest1.GetResponse();
->The above code works fine
But I need to enhance the code to accomodate following additional scenario
->Send another request to the same web app and
->get the response back
The first request sent contains the credentials to access the web application the second request sent doesn't have credentials, it must use the credentials of first request. I am using the same (following) code for the second request too. I get an error saying that it's looking for credentials
HttpWebRequest oRequest2 = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
oRequest2.ContentType = "text/xml";
using (Stream stream = oRequest2.GetRequestStream())
{
stream.Write(fileBytes2, 0, fileBytes2.Length);
}
HttpWebResponse Response2 = (HttpWebResponse)oRequest2.GetResponse();
So how do I accomplish this? Should I be sending the second request using same session or same connection?
I am calling a web service (written in Java) in my web app. I use the WSDL to generate proxy classes using the wsdl.exe command line tool.
Everything is working fine.
However, I have found out that the web service is not doing any data validation at all when they receive a request from my app. Hence, if I happen to send one minute piece of data that isn't exactly what they want, I receive a general fault error in return, with no specifics at all of what the incorrect (if any) piece of data is.
So, before I make the request, I'd like to validate my request against the schema they have provided. Is this possible, and if so, how do I go about this?
I am facing an issue while calling a web request thru my code. I have searched a lot on number of sites but did not get any solution.
Here is the code which I am using:

i'm using asp.net 3.5 and my site is hosted on godaddy i have a contact us form on the site. and i have to send the contact queries on [URL] which is hosted on godaddy. whenever i try sending mails i get this error

I have situation where I need to authenticate a client across multiple web services. Basically each service needs to identify the client and know a few other small pieces of information about the client.
The way I have it working now is that the needed identifying information is stored in a session table in a database by the authenticating web server. The web server hands the client an string, which IDs the database entry and gets passed to the other web services. The web services then use this string to pull the needed information about the client from the database entry.
It has occurred to me that it might be possible to give the client an encrypted blob that contains the user ID and other needed information, which is rather small, and avoid using the database for this completely. The client would just pass around the blob (like the string in the previous paragraph) without needing to know what it contains, and only the web services would know how to decrypt it.
This should eliminate the need for the database to store the session information and would make the whole process a good bit simpler. With the database you have to worry about cleaning up old sessions and timeouts and so on.
So my question: is passing around sensitive data from service to service via client considered safe and acceptable? Is it possible to do this in a way that would eliminate worry about the client tampering with the data? What encryption algorithms would be good to use?
I have a .Net Webservice(2.0 framework) and I am trying to call this service from SQL
server 2005 using CLR.
I have created assamblies on server and trying to call the we service through CLR, but I'm getting below error:
"Exception:
Server was unable to process request. ---> Invalid URI: The URI is empty."
how to handle if the page request from server is time out or
the client connection to server is already cut off ...??
I am seeing a lot of these errors on the server logs.

My company is planning on having some planned down time, because of some server migrations. Their are about 20 different web applications (internet, and intranet). Any of which can go down at any one time because of the server migration of applications.
So, does anyone know if their is a way to provide a generic message to users if a particular application is down? Like a popup message box, or generic page for that particular application? The idea is to not write 20 different popups or 20 different Fyi-Web pages. But one single page or popup informing that the application is down.
i want to know if i want to use multiple server for my application. what should i do.e.g. if i used session to store some important data so as session get stored on server if my application use one server and server get crashed then my application also get crashed. So to avoid this problem what should i do (if solution is use multiple servers then how can i do that)
