I see the dropdown but the dropdown is blank, but there are rows in the database for this column and in the footer row it is working fine.

Aug 24, 2010I have a transaction table with a field called product. There is a limited number of choices for product so I also have a product table. I am showing the transactions in a ListView with a dropdownlist for Product. The field Product can be blank (all works well then). The user can leave the field blank or they can choose from the dropdownlist. I am running into a problem with the dropdownlist in the Edit Template. No matter what the product is in the transaction file, I get a page error of "ddlEditProduct has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items". I have verified the product does exist in the product table.

Aug 20, 2010In my edit template I want a dropdownlist containing a list of possible customers. The list is populated from a database table containing existing customers. If the main record has customer "XYZ", then I want that customer to be the default in the dropdown. I'm using VS 2008 and C# My markup for the dropdownlist is currently:

The dropdownlist is populated but the problem is it shows the first customer in the list. I don't want the user to have to rechoose customer if that is not what they are changing.

Jan 6, 2010I keep getting a null reference when I try to access a listbox inside the EditItemTemplate of a formview. I check the mode before accessing the control (Formview1.CurrentMode) to make sure it is in edit mode and even set it manually to edit mode again! But formview1.findcontrol("blah") returns null. Formview1.EditItemTemplate does not have a FindControl method, not sure what else to try.

Jun 7, 2010I have a standard gridview and detailsview. My detailsview has some fields which are templates, with dropdownlists. The user selects a record in the gridview, then can go down to the detailsview, select Edit, and change some values (using dropdownlists).I am getting the error, "DDL has a selectedvalue which is invalid because it does not exist...." when I click Edit in the detailsview.
I know the problem has something to do with the dropdownlists not being instantiated or bound until I enter Edit mode. Is that right? In what event should I databind my dropdownlists? I've tried several things but could not get it to work. Do I have to loop through all the rows of my details view looking for the dropdownlists, or can I access them directly from some event?

and in the SqlDataSource

And in insert parameters:

And the insert fails with YearOfQualification as null. If I sue the standard textbox:

C# - Filter Subcategory Dropdownlist Inside Editable Template Of Listview / Formview
Aug 20, 2010In my listview object insert/edit template, I have two dropdownlists (category, subcategory). When a user selects a category (autopostback), I would like the subcategory dropdown to filter to only the those that match the categoryID from the category ddl. This seems to be complicated by the fact that it is in a listview object. I'm currently using a queryextender on the subcategory datasource, but I'm not sure how to apply the selectedvalue of the category to the queryextender. The subcategory just shows all items and is not filtered. How do you accomplish this?

Aug 3, 2010My Gridview is refreshing its datasource when the edit button is clicked. How can I prevent this from happening? This isn't much of a problem when there aren't a lot of records, but when there are many it takes awhile. The data is already loaded so the edit button shouldn't need to reload the data. The edit button is a template edit button, and I'm using an SQL Datasource that connects to an Oracle database. The SQL datasource uses a control parameter that points to a dropdownlist.

Jan 6, 2010I've got this gridview. The gridview uses TemplateFields as the number of fields in the database's table. What I do next is use an ItemTemplate to present the correct column info.
Now, problems rise when the user click's Edit. Since I can only use EditItemTemplate to edit I am resulted with a control in each column. What I really want is to have a single row with no columns so I can easily style the edit mode (having a table with a different layout for example).
Is this possible?

I added runat="server" to the <a> and now I am not getting an error, but when a date is selected in the calendar control is it not being inserted int the txtGvEditTeDate textbox.
JQuery :: Datepicker Not Popping Up In Gridview Edit Template Textbox?
Aug 23, 2010I have a gridview that I can't for the life of me get the datepicker calender to pop up for. I've been using the datepicker for months very successfully for a variety of textboxes on the page and inside of formviews but this is the first time I've tried using with gridview. I didn't expect any issues however can't seem to find anything to work. I have searched the forums for 2 days and attempted any suggestions found within the solutions to no avail. I've tried using the CSS to link the datepicker but everything stopped working when I changed the code and my page which uses a css style already got all distorted looking.Here is my gridview (only included a part b/c it is large and am only having problem with the datepicker for the date completed text box)

Mar 30, 2011I have read a lot of post and seen some solutions to this; however, nothing seems to work for me. I have a gridview inside an update panel and when the user clicks on the edit link the row goes into edit mode. when the user clicks into the text box specified for the date nothing happens. here is what my JS looks like and the gridview row i am working with. i have tried the CSS selector and the ID selector with no luck......I also have a date picker working great on my page, but it is not inside a gridview or an update panel....
