I have two applications one already installed at client side, and a web application hosted on some server, in web application there is a page from which there is an option to run that application, how can I do this.
View 3 RepliesIn my application, the client must sign (using a certificate) and send data to the server. My doubt is how should I do it?
To sign on the client side, I should use ActiveX right? My problem is that firefox doesn't support it.
Signing on the server side I have two options:
Save the private key on the server and use it when necessary (if the data is modified during the transaction it will sign false data)Send the private key when necessary (may comprise the key)
Despite using SSL, I'm not very confortable with any of the two options for signing on the server side...
I know we can use appsettings on the aspx side with "<%$appSettings:testkey %>"
however is there a way to use appsetting in the following code example?
'<%# Eval("member_value", "http://www.test.com/members/memberpage.aspx?member={0}") %>'
What I want to do is store the URL in an appsetting, but Im not sure this is possible because of the databinding.
Also a second question, is it possible to concatenate appsettings on the aspx side such as the following code (which does not work)?
"<%$appSettings:testkey + $appSettings:testkey2 %>"

How can I get the width of a textbox in pixels from server side, if the width in html is set as 95%? MyTextBox.Width.Value gives me 95, i.e. percentage.
View 4 RepliesI wanna to mask my textbox , so if the user enter the number one for example it formatted as 0000001 how to do this ,any number in 7 digits.
View 2 RepliesI'm adding <ASP:TextBox>'s to a page in code.I'm going to set their ID and stuff like that.I'm wanting to retrieve the text of those textboxes on a button press. Now I know I can't simply do "Me.MyTBName1.Text". I guess I could loop through the controls and compare IDs. I'd rather be able to get the textbox's text directly somehow though.I could use Javascript to get the value, but I don't think I can use it server-side at that point.

I have a form that contains a TextBox. A pop up window will return a value and put it into the TextBox. when this happens, i need to populate another control. I tried "OnChange" but it was not triggered .
View 1 RepliesI want to filter a grid at server side based on the value typed in a text box. And the filter should happen as the user types in text box. Since there is no server side event like keypress on a textbox, I decided to do use the client side onkeypress event and call a server side code using PageMethod. But then ran out with the limitation of PageMethod being static and I can't access grid from server side code.

I have a textbox in my application which has multiple validation on it e.g. RequiredFieldValidator, RegexValidation and CustomValidation. My page has several similar textboxes. So I just copy-paste and change id and controltovalidate properties and it is working.
Since similar tbxs are going to be used on another page as well, I think it would be nice to create my own custom TextBox control with built-in validation.
Here are two approaches I have found and tried:
1: Implement from IValidator perform my custom validation in Validate Method. As shown here: Self-Validating TextBox But it does not show how to implement client-side validation.
2: Create custom control that derives from TextBox and add asp.net built-in validators I need. As shown here:Custom TextBox. I tried the code and it works server/client side.
I like the first approach but don't know how to implement client-side validation. I know I need a client-side js function. I can do that. I know how to include my js file using Page.ClientScript class but don't know how to integrate all together and make it work.
I can create a UserControl or the second approach above but for now I am specifically looking to learn and implement client-side validation from custom control.
I have a multiline textbox that by default, is set to ReadOnly. I would like a button on the page to change the control to allow it to be edited. I would like this code to run on the client side because the page renders slowly and I'd like to avoid the post back.
The problem I'm having is the javascript code that I wrote to remove the readonly attribute appears to have no effect. I posted a stripped down example that illustrates the problem for your review.

How can I raise a server-side event while I'm typing in it?
I have two textboxes, one isfor 'program' and the other for 'description'. I have a predefined set of programs and it is associated descriptions in the database.
Example : For program named 'Test' it has the description as 'Valid' in the DB Table

In ASP.Net, I want to give a user an ability to save the text entered in the textbox to the client machine. So that, user can copy paste it for later use.
Is there a way to show, save as dialog so that user can save the text in a text file on client machine? or, if there is any other alternative?
