I am writing an error log procedure (for security reasons I cannot use log4net / elmah etc), and I wanted to know if it is possible to get the line number of the line where the error occured and / or the procedure name where the error occured?I will be creating try catch finally statement blocks, so I am hoping to get the line number of the errorhandler (or the line that caused the error) and the related procedure name.

I am learning, so apologies if it's a obvious error.
I am attempting to execute a stored proc in asp.net in the code behind. The parameter I am trying to pass is strErrorMessage that contains a value of "The transport failed to connect to the server.; ". The error message when the query gets executed is: The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 1 ("@errMessage"): Data type 0xE7 has an invalid data length or metadata length. Update with code

We have three web servers in our web farm that are load balanced using the Network Load Balancing Manager in Windows 2003. The sites that run on these boxes use In-Proc ASP.NET session. Our assumption is that the balancing uses a "sticky" session because users seem to be assigned to a given server during their use of the application as well as there doesn't appear to be any session error where the session data is residing on a previous machine. My question is how can I 1) verify that our balancing configuration is using "sticky" sessions and 2) can someone explain the load balancing feature in Windows 2003 relative to ASP.NET web applications?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on locking down some MySQL user accounts. At the moment I typically grant my user accounts execute privileges over the required stored procedures within a schema.Now I'm looking at the proc table in the mysql schema. The common wisdom that's quoted many times on various websites says "Stored procedures require the presence of the proc table in the mysql schema".By granting select access over the proc table stored procedures will work. But if I removed the above select privilege and grant the user execute privilege over the entire mysql schema the procedure will also work.
Does anyone have any ideas about the security issues by choosing one of the above over another?I would prefer to lock the proc table down all together so the user cannot see it cannot select from it.
I am trying to pass stored procedure from a controller to view. In my Home controller, in Index method, I have this. CustOrderHist is my stored procedure from northwind database.
public ActionResult Index()

DataClasses1DataContext dc = new DataClasses1DataContext();
var products = dc.CustOrderHist("ALFKI").GetEnumerator();
return View(products);

I have a table with two indexes, PK_WClient (clustered) and SMonths (non-unqiue, non-clustered), we have a data import that works on the .net side, it imports data via C# into the table. Every time we complete the import the sections of the asp.net site that use that table are very slow, just when pulling the new records, old records are fine. so we reindex that table for both indexes and things are fine again. Rather than us having to reindex manually in sql server 2005 each time, is there a way to get this to happen via a stored proc or from the c# side? this way when the client gets the project, we don't need to run the index, they can just use the site to import data and behind the sceens the reindex can happen once the import is done.

I've been self teaching SQL and asp.net and i'm a little stuck. I have a stored proc for the insert and then in my Insert inside my class it's not returning the ID after the insert as I am receiving an error message that NULL value has cannot be inserted. I want to add default values to a seperate table after the insert. I will provide my code below, if anyone can help me why the value is not going across?

i am trying to write a stored proc that takes data from one table based on a field in that tabke and writes that data out to another table with the eventual idea that this data is deleted from the original table it was read from. my stored proc is as follows:

I'm converting Active X code in DTS to Script Task for SSIS and I'm having trouble creating an XML file from my stored proc. Here's the code:

The label 'sql' has already been declared. Label names must be unique within a query batch or stored procedure.
I have a .net 3.5 page that calls a short sql server procedure which compiles fine. When the code is called
from a webpage(.net) it runs the first time it is executed. However on the second time it throws an error saying "There is already an object named 'strPKHoldUp' in the database." StrPKHold is a variable that I
declare in the code as seen below.... I have never had a problem before with declaring a variable and having it "save or cache" in the database so you can use it again. Any idea how to solve this? I tried
moving the DECLARE statement around a little bit but that didnt. I changed the variable name to something else and it works one time but fails after that...

I want to have a stored procedure which will accept a Datatable from .NET application and the tablename and will loop thru' each record in the Datatable and insert it into the table. It will insert the bad records into a bad file. Also how to send the datatable to the proc,what kind of parameter to use.
Pls post the code for this proc.
I am having a strange problem with using stored proc in CTP5.I am calling a stored proc in my function like this:
private List<Test> GetDatat(Test pTest)
{
using(var staticDB=new StaticDB()) [code]...
But I am getting error that parameters not found. Looking at the sql trace I can see that CTP5 is sending "default" value if any of my parameters is null instead of the null value.
Is it possible to call 1 Stored procedure from another withing a sql query
sp1 :
select ID1,ID2,ID3,ID4 from table1 ;
sp2 :
select name from table2 where ID = ID1;
I want to get corresponding names of ID1,ID2 and ID3,ID4 in sp1 as a query result.Is it somehow possible to call sp2 from sp1?
I've got an ASP.NET MVC app running under IIS7. It's using the default in-proc session management, which, according to all that I read, should lose the users' session after an app pool recycle.It doesn't seem to be losing it though. Even an IIS reset doesn't lose the session.Has something changed in IIS7 that keeps the session alive?
View 1 RepliesI have a GridView sourced by a SQL Server stored procedure with several databound fields, including a money column for item values. My stored proc returns the data through a SELECT and everything looks good. The stored proc also has a single output parameter that sums the total value of the displayed data, and this value is displayed in a label above the GridView.
