But when the checkbox is checked/unchecked, autopostback happens but the event handler does not get hit.

Versioning SharePoint Binary Workflow ASPX Task Forms?

Apr 13, 2010

As noted by some developers, workflow versioning is somekind of headache in SharePoint.

I`m wondering is there a way I can version my aspx forms? For sure, i can version code behind assemblies, but if markup changes for any of my files in LAYOUTS folder? Is there versioning available for files or do i have to choose new filename for my form?

I should have been more specific. Yes, i have files under version control (i can restore previous versions etc), but i`m not talking about this kind of version control. But by deploying new Workflow Version, i must not delete old one, because it is still running on many items in SharePoint, but rather , as noted in previous links, deploy new one so i don't break execution of workflows.

But workflows will still break if i don't preserve old aspx forms used by users to interact with workflows.

So i must ensure that Assemblies with old version numbers used by old workflow exists (this one is ok, i just changed assembly version number and deployed to GAC)I must ensure that old workflow still uses old aspx form used users to interact with workflow, but new workflow version should use new aspx form with more options (how to do this?).

Web Forms :: Adding Event Handler To DropDown List In A GridView?

Feb 26, 2010

I have a GridView control that contians, among other things, a DropDownList. In this particular case, the DropDownList is in the EmptyDataTemplate, but I suspect I will run into a similar situation when I'm in Data Rows as well.I'm trying to handle the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for the DropDownList and in the .aspx file I have used the declarative syntax to assign the handler OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlStoreList_SelectedIndexChanged") and have created the handler code to deal with this.

[Code]....

The problem that I'm running into is that the event is not being handled. In other words, when I put a breakpoint in the handler, I find that it is not getting hit when I change the selection of the DropDownList.

VS 2010 - Dynamic List Of Delete Buttons / Event Handler

Oct 14, 2011

Creating a list of users with a "Delete" linkbutton next to each". Seems I got it all wrong (again..away from webforms a long time).

Here's what I do:

Building a list of users with delete buttons:

Code:
foreach (var user in users)
{
var usr = user as UserInfo;
var row = new TableRow();
var cell = new TableCell();

[Code] ....

The "Delete""event handler:

Code:
protected void btnRemoveModUser_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
var button = sender as LinkButton;
var userController = new UserController();
var user = userController.GetUser(PortalId, int.Parse(button.CommandArgument));
RemoveUserFromRole(Enums.KnowledgebaseRole.KB_Moderators, user);
}

I got a hunch though it's because of the when/where I'm loading that list of users. I call the function (getting a list of all users, clearing the table and populate it again):

In the page load, if not a postback.
Every time the "Add user" function have been called (that works fine).
Every time the "Delete user" function are called.

The last will not delete the user (still in database) but reload the ^&* form without any users.

I just found that the delete handler does not get called at all, but the button post back the form, so my list of user's don't get loaded.

Difference Between Adding Code In The PreLoad Event Handler And At The Top Of The Load Event Handler?

Oct 3, 2010

Is there a technical reason for the existence of Page.PreLoad or is this just convenience to have a place where you can neatly place code that always have to be executed before the Load code? Is there a difference between adding code in the PreLoad event handler and adding code at the top of the Load event handler? And what would be a typical scenario where you use PreLoad?

Web Forms :: Clearing RadiobuttonList Using Jquery Does Not Preserve Its Value When Attached To TextChanged Event?

Oct 18, 2010

i have a simple ASP.NET 3.5 page with a Radiobuttonlist with 2 items (Yes/NO). there are also 2 Buttons. The 1st button has a client side jQuery code that clears the selected value in the radiobuttonlist. The second button just postback the page when clicked and has no event handler.

Now, everything works fine, so when we select a value in the radiobuttonlist (ex: Yes), then we click the 1st button, the value is cleared, and clicking on the 2nd button, the page posts back and the radiobuttonlist control will not have any value selected. (That's GOOD for now).

Now, if we attach the textChanged or SelectedIndexChange events to the RadioButtonList (with no server side code in them), and repeat the above senario, what will happen is that after postback, the radiobuttonlist value will NOT BE CLEARED, and it will revert to the last selected value before postback. This is very weird. I don't know why it behaved like this.

Elect One Web Application Instance To Perform A Task Triggered By An External Event?

Mar 4, 2010

I have an ASP.NET application running on multiple IIS6 web servers, with a SQL Server 2005 database back-end.

I need to:

monitor the database for the completion of an external job event, and then have exactly one web application instance submit some information to a web service For (1) it seems like a SqlDependency would be the best approach (or just plain old polling). Each web application instance would register such a dependency when it starts up. (I don't want to configure a 'master' instance because the failure of that instance would mean the task doesn't proceed, even if other instances are available. Thus my design is to ensure that if there is an instance available to do the work, then the work ought to proceed.)

For (2) I have been thinking of having some sort of flag in the database that the web application instances try to update once they receive the SqlDependency notification in (1), along the following line (greatly simplified):

UPDATE StatusTable SET TaskStatus = 1 WHERE TaskStatus = 0

SELECT @@ROWCOUNT

that only one application instance would have been able to update the TaskStatus, and thus only one instance would have a @@ROWCOUNT > 0. This would then be the instance 'elected' to submit the information to the web service.

Web Forms :: Add Event Handler To User Control And Capture Event On Parent Page?

Apr 24, 2010

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005.

I have a page books.aspx that has a control named authors.ascx.

Inside the authors control there is a "select" button I want to add some kind of listener or event handler (not sure of the correct terminology) so on the parent page (books.aspx) I can respond to the "select" button being clicked.

I have to pass the authorID from the user control to the parent page.

In my authors.ascx control I just created this event:

[Code]....

Now I need to write the function for SelectAuthorBtnClick and I think add some kind of listener in the parent page to listen and handle the event.

Most Efficient C# SharePoint List Iteration?

Mar 8, 2011

I'm doing some custom code for a SharePoint webpart in C#. Specifically, I'm making a quiz, my main point here addressing the list that holds the question, answer choices, and correct answer.

At the last stage of the quiz I need to check the answers selected by the user against the correct answer in the list. Currently, I'm doing the following to check if each is correct, which I'm assuming isn't very efficient because it iterates through each question. Is there a method, specifically for the SPList foreach loop, that would be more efficient?

// 1. Store questions and answers in class
List<submittedAnswers> answeredQuestions = new List<submittedAnswers>();
// 2. From POST pull answered question IDs and answer IDs (which correspond to the question primary key and answer choice number both stored in the list)
// INSERT BEAUTFIUL AND EFFICIENT WHILE LOOP HERE
// 3. Loop through each question is list, if question was given, test if correct/incorrect
using (SPWeb myWeb = mySite.OpenWeb())
{
SPList answerList = myWeb.Lists[questionList];
foreach (SPListItem quizEntry in answerList.Items)
{
int pullAnswerId = int.Parse(quizEntry["Answer"].ToString()); // Pull answer number from list
int pullQuestionId = int.Parse(quizEntry["ID"].ToString()); // Pull primary key of question
submittedAnswers result = answeredQuestions.Find(delegate(submittedAnswers e) { return e.questionId == int.Parse(quizEntry["ID"].ToString()); });
if (result != null)
{
if (result.responseId != pullAnswerId) // If the response was different from the answer
incorrectAnswers++;
else
correctAnswers++;
}
}
}
// C# quiz grading magic here....

I'm under the assumption that if the web part has the appropriate permission level, the user's permissions (the quiz taker) don't matter. Is there a particular permission that should allow the webpart to write to a list? Specifically:

Web Forms :: Prepopulate Information From Sharepoint List?

Oct 15, 2010

i was wondering if there is a way to prepopulate sharepoint list item values into a webform fields if the loggin user's information is matched with the information in the list item.

what i have done is that i made a query function to determine if info is matched, and then i try to pull some infomation out from list item. this method works fine for printing these values to some labels on the form, however, it is not working for prepopulation, which happens in the page_load function.

here is my query code:

[Code]....

here is the read from list code:

public void readFromList()
{
SPSite oSiteCollection = SPContext.Current.Site;
SPList oList = oSiteCollection.AllWebs["/en/admin"].Lists["TTCVIP"];
SPView oListView = oList.Views["All Items"];
SPListItemCollection collectListItems = oList.GetItems(oListView);
foreach (SPListItem oListItem in collectListItems)
{
SPWeb web = SPControl.GetContextWeb(Context);
SPUser loggedinUser = web.CurrentUser;
LabelFirstName.Text = SPEncode.HtmlEncode(oListItem["First Name"].ToString());
//LabelLastName.Text = loggedinUser.Name;
LabelLastName.Text = SPEncode.HtmlEncode(oListItem["Last Name"].ToString());
