How To Access Php Javascript Object In Asp.net User Control

Apr 14, 2010

I have a website in php which is using 4 frames(top, left, middle and right). The middle frame contains the web user control coded in asp.net. Now, in the right frame( which is coded in php ) some javascript contains the id of the items selected in right frame. I need to get those ids to the middle frame on asp.net user control.

Aug 24, 2010

I wonder why I cant access Object by ClientInstanceName from javascript.

example:

function NextStep(pageControl) {
currentStep = pageControl.GetActiveTabIndex();
switch (currentStep) {
case 0:
selectedRowsCount = GridViewClient.GetSelectedRowCount();
break;
}

The error is:

There is no definition for GridViewClient;
but ClientInstanceName is set to GridViewClient

Case is that I have thos grid on other tabs in ASPxPageControl so that these aren't visible but What I want to do is to refresh one of it before displaying it and I wanted to use client side ASPxGridViewClient.Refresh().

Web Forms :: Access User Control Properties In Another User Control

Nov 9, 2010

I want to use a couple of instances of the same control on a page. The user control is intended to display a list of records in a repeater. The aim is that the second control will show a list excluding the IDs in the first control The control has a number of public properties, including IDsInThisList, and IDstoExclude. The query will exclude the IDs in the second property.

What I would like to do is get the record IDs from the first instance of the control (IDsInThisList), and pass them to the second contro as the IDsToExclude.

I have a test page where I am setting the properties of the controls in code. As you might guess, it's not working! The first control displays the top 3 items, as desired, but the second display the records 1-7, rather than records 4-10 because it is not receiving the IDstoExclude from the first control When I response write the IDstoExclude from the first control in my testpage, the string is empty. (if I do it from within the control, it shows the IDs)

How can I get the controls to fire in order and pass values to each other?

Screen grab of test page + uc and test page code attached

[Code]....

Forms Data Controls :: Using GridView With A User Control And Passing Object Into Control?

Jan 8, 2010

I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.

Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control

Web User Control With Javascript Used Multiple Times On A Page - How To Make Javascript Functions Point At The Correct Controls

Apr 12, 2010

I think I summed up the question in the title. Here is some further elaboration...I have a web user control that is used in multiple places, sometimes more than once on a given page.The web user control has a specific set of JavaScript functions (mostly jQuery code) that are containted within *.js files and automatically inserted into page headers.However, when I want to use the control more than once on a page, the *.js files are included 'n' number of times and, rightly so, the browser gets confused as to which control it's meant to be executing which function on.What do I need to do in order to resolve this problem? I've been staring at this all day and I'm at a loss.

JavaScript - User Control JavaScript Function Doesn't Run

Sep 22, 2010

I have the function put here like below:

$(document).ready(function () {
UserControlNameInit();
});

The script are put in the following and the block is in the .ascx page.

<script type="text/javascript">
</script>

However, the function UserControlNameInit() does not run when the page loads. It is showing in the page source. I can still call this function through FireBug console by manually typing the name of the function.

I did the same way with other user controls, and it works. Just 1-3 user controls are not working...

C# - How To Access User Control's Fields And Methods Without Registering The Control

Jul 21, 2010

I have a ASP.Net project that is setup in such a way that it can be dropped into any site and "just work." All the paths are relative to the current file, not relative to the "~". The paths are determined by ThePath = this.TemplateSourceDirectory;

This is working for everything expect registering a custom control that is created and added to one of the pages. I can add the control just fine with the Page.LoadControl but I cant cast it as the correct type to access anything.

How can I add a reference to the class from within the code itself?

How To Use A Viewstate'd Object As A Datasource For Controls On User Control

Dec 29, 2010

I've got a listview on a control. Each row comprises a checkbox and another listview.

The outer listview is bound to a property on the control (via a method call, can't set a property as a SelectMethod on an ObjectDataSource it would appear) which is lazy loaded suchly:

[Code]....

The reason for the use of viewstate is this:

When an one of the checkboxes on one of the outer list view rows is checked or unchecked I want to modify the object that the ODS represents (for example I'll add a couple of Charge objects to the relevant Product object) and then rebind.

The problem I'm getting is that after every postback (specifically after checking or unchecking one of the rows' checkbox) my viewstate is empty. Thiss means that any changes I make to my viewstate'd object is lost.

Now, I've worked out (after much googling and reading, amongst many others, Scott Mitchel's excellent bit on ViewState) that during initial databinding IsTrackingViewState is set to false. That means, I think, that assigning the return from GetWebServiceProductLineChargeDetails() to the ViewState item in my Property Get during the initial databind won't work.

Mind you, even when the IsTrackingViewState is true and I call the Property Get, come the next postback, the viewstate is empty.

how I keep the object referenced by the ObjectDataSource in ViewState between postbacks and update it and get those changes to stay in ViewState?
