How To Make Website That Response Even On Heavy Traffic Load
Aug 28, 2010
i wanted to know that how to make the website that performance never goes down even if the load is increased up to some extent rather than the general websites.
i am confusued that is this related to the database server or the coding...
My question is today, i have a web system. its every we need send more than 1000 emails to system users and for their activity. its must we need send from asp.net application. so i have written common class to send email its worjing well. but when i'm use without thread it take time to send email adn re direct to thier pages. but after that i try use this
Its now workign well, but i have read some articles ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem is not good when site get heavy traffic. so what is best way to do i'm expecting expert comments to this
What should be the approach while designing when you know that your page would take considerable time to load? e.g. if it has controls which are heavy & some which are lighter? Can we make use of any of the design patterns to solve this issue?
In my website for one project we have 5000+ records in sql database. If I give page size is 100 for gridview then the paze size showing 800kb in firebug net panel and it is taking 20-30 seconds to load webpage. If I give page size is 10 for gridview then the paze size showing 160kb in firebug net panel and it is taking 5-6 seconds to load webpage. If I give page size is 5for gridview then the paze size showing 130kb in firebug net panel and it is taking less than 6 seconds to load webpage. I noticed that due to heavy paze size the performance decreasing but as per my requirent the paze size should be 100 or above and the page should be load less than 2 seconds.
So far I've been successfully using fiddler to sniff web service traffic from both test fixtures, console apps and web projects.
Today I noticed I am not able anymore to sniff that kind of traffic if I am running my web application (it's a ASP.NET website, hosted locally on IIS). I see all the local traffic but the web service traffic is just gone (the service is being hit as I do see the response debugging into the code).
I am still able to successfully sniff soap requests and responses from test fixtures or console apps in the same solution (exact same environment). If it was a windows (I am on Win7) security update or the likes it would never work I guess (unless it affects only traffic routed through IIS).
What should I be looking for that could cause the emergence this behavior?
NOTE: I can see local traffic, but not the SOAP request/responses to the web service which is not hosted locally anyway (it's a sandbox another team is providing)
EDIT: This bit of configuration did the trick (found on Rick Strahl's blog)
I'm wondering should i make it in PHP or ASP.NET/C#. Website contents might grow really fast because it is expected there going to be daily/continuous posts from users. Its an interactive website that has to login, post, check replies and private messages without any advanced/complex features.
so this is alittle bit obscure and I'm not sure its the best way of doing what I'm trying to do but here goes.
Basically I have a Presentation Layer Dll in my web site which handles the Model View Presenter classes. The presentation layer also handles login for my website and then calls off to a web service. Currently whenever the presentation layer calls to a model it verifies the users details and if they are invalid it calls to a loginHandler which redirects the user to the login page. However I cannot dynamically load a new istance of the Login Page in my website from within my Presentation layer.
I've tried to use reflection to dynamically load the class but Since the method call is in the presentation assembly it is only looking within that assembly while the page I want to load is in the website.
heres the reflection code that loads the View:
public ILoginView LoadView() { string viewName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["LoginView"].ToString(); Type type = Type.GetType(viewName, true); object newInstance = Activator.CreateInstance(type); return newInstance as ILoginView; }
how to search within the website assembly? Ideal I don't want to tie this implementation into the website specifically as the presentation layer is also used in a WPF application.
How can I make a Response.Redirect open in a new page? I guess it would be the ASP.NET equivalent of <a href="page.aspx" target="_blank">click here</a>. I have a lot of code on an OnClick event handler and it redirects at the end of the code. It would make it very simple if there was a way to do it in ASP.NET.
i'm just getting started with asp.net and ajax. My question is : is it possible to make an ajax request and simulate the server response in the code behind. in other words can the request be sent to the code behind of the same page? if it's possible haw can i perform this ?
I have a try-catch inside a method that is called asynchronously. When an error occurs, inside the catch I have a Response.Redirect because I need to redirect to the login page.
This is my issue.
But my problem doesn't involve things that expire, so the idea of a timer isn't the best way to resolve it.
For example, I have three UpdatePanels on the page. I click a button, and I get pretty long response, that contains all the data for the three UpdatePanels, the viewstate string.
I want to optimize my query and receive response like "ok" or "not ok". How can I do that?
There are files stored in sql server (datatype of column is varbinary in the database).
each record is in one record in that table (FILE_TABLE).
And there is another table (PATH_TABLE) to store the files paths.
for example,
when the user download the folder A (select an item on the tree and click a button on the client side),
there is one sub-folder B and two files A-1 and A-2.
in folder B, there is two files B-1 and B-2.
then, at the code behind (server), the server will get the files from the database and convert them (including the files and subfolders) to a .zip file (or other compressed files)
and then write a response (using the method HttpResponse.BinaryWrite(Byte[] xxx) )
to client side and let the user download.
after the download, the user can extract the compressed file and the structure of the folders and files keep unchanged.
I have been asked to design & develop a page in asp.net which contains 7 tabs. Each table contains 2 Editable gridview & clicking on gridview cell should open a popup & that popup will open a new popup ( I would say nested popup). Even when I switch from one tab to another. It should hold the griddata & whenever user will finish all the operations he/she will click on save button which will save all the data contained in the tabs. The page is really too heavy. It will definitely take a long time to load as it contains gridview operations, popup related jobs, tab data & tab switching. I am finding the best way I can achieve this with an acceptable speed of operation.
I have a problem with the performance of the web site-application . The major problem is when i hit the site from a long distance remote pc all server side events responces are too slow espesially the gridview (paging) , the point is when i used ajax update panel of asp.net it was more slower .
I am developing a a web application of a general store where the operator has to enter the things what customer has purchased. Like daily usage item,or anything. So I have form in which I first ask how much item u wannt to register...(if he has 20-30 number of items then operator will enter 20-30 then in gridview 20-30 item are opened. With bind dropdownbox containing name of item ,then textboxs containing mrp, value, stock avail of that item. Here is the link for demo. [URL]. Problem is suppose the operator enter the value above 20, then viewstate size id about 1.50Mb that's too heavy. [Code]....
I developed a webapp which is working great in IE8, and newer versions of Safari, Opera, Firefox and Chrome. I've noticed that there are many things wrong with the page in IE7. Resizing isn't working properly, margins aren't being set correctly. Floating within a cleared div isn't working property. My unordered lists with a display:inline are not displaying correctly.I'm just not sure where to start with this. I feel like i need to be supporting IE 7. Is this a common issue with other developers?Edit : for example....a page will with div's containing these classes does not work....TreasureContainer
I have noticed two time-related problems with my website:
[1] Slowness of loading the graphics for each page in the browser; [2] Receiving a "Runtime Error" page in the browser when I do take action on the site (e.g. navigate to another page) within approx. 30 seconds.
Are these problems related to limitations of my web host?
In my application i am getting data fROM sql server 2008.It is coming from collection of nearly 12 tables. I have to fillter this data in my application and of fillter data i have to write Xml.
my problem is that to fillter i need to that retrieve data to hold in my application and to achieve this i am using the help of dataset and datatable. But most of time when i am running application ,my application getting hang and very slow OR getting crashes.
Here is a sample code for the result page: Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim SB As New StringBuilder() Dim NVC As NameValueCollection = Request.Form Dim nextKey As String For counter As Integer = 0 To NVC.AllKeys.Length - 1 nextKey = NVC.AllKeys(counter)
When my Application face a long-time process, i.e fetch a query (SELECT a, b, c FROM d)This query needs 10 seconds to be completed in the MSSQL Management Studio, but when the ASP.NET application try to fetch it, it refuse to return any response to any other requests made on that Server.
I am hosting my Application on VPS Server with good specifications, and I am giving this example the (SELECT a, b, c FROM d) just to tell you the issue, it can be any process, maybe processing a movie, or even fetching some data through external API that is experiencing some slow-down,or whatever.
when i make control (visible=false) onpage load event, this mean this control is created and Make Load on Server? becasuse i have ajax html editor when i make it hidden onpageload event, all My Controls rendered fast, but when i make it visible its slow down page , althouh ajax html editor is not in any updatepanel.
last question :when any DataControl ( for example DataList)Contain Datasource (assume ArrayList) and This ArrayList is null , this datalist created ? and Make Load on Sever? and the speed of page is the same as there is no datalist?
