In my website for one project we have 5000+ records in sql database. If I give page size is 100 for gridview then the paze size showing 800kb in firebug net panel and it is taking 20-30 seconds to load webpage. If I give page size is 10 for gridview then the paze size showing 160kb in firebug net panel and it is taking 5-6 seconds to load webpage. If I give page size is 5for gridview then the paze size showing 130kb in firebug net panel and it is taking less than 6 seconds to load webpage. I noticed that due to heavy paze size the performance decreasing but as per my requirent the paze size should be 100 or above and the page should be load less than 2 seconds.
Note: I am using Ajax Update panels
I use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I am following a tutorial which uses VWD2005 and says to create an Ajax enabled website. There is no specifically named "Ajax enabled template" in VWD 2008 Express
I think I have created one by creating a new ASP.NET website and adding a ScriptManager and an UpdatePanel to the page and placing the content of the page inside the UpdatePanel ContentTemplate.
I am trying to rule out reasons why my aplication wont work - step by step, piece by piece, from the beginning of the tutorial.
i wanted to know that how to make the website that performance never goes down even if the load is increased up to some extent rather than the general websites.
i am confusued that is this related to the database server or the coding...
I developed a webapp which is working great in IE8, and newer versions of Safari, Opera, Firefox and Chrome. I've noticed that there are many things wrong with the page in IE7. Resizing isn't working properly, margins aren't being set correctly. Floating within a cleared div isn't working property. My unordered lists with a display:inline are not displaying correctly.I'm just not sure where to start with this. I feel like i need to be supporting IE 7. Is this a common issue with other developers?Edit : for example....a page will with div's containing these classes does not work....TreasureContainer
View 1 RepliesI've found that some of my ASP.Net web apps prompt the browser to load plugins that I'm not explicitely using and certainly haven't deliberately referenced in the project settings.Two that come to mind are for MS MediaPlayer and the "SVG Viewer for Netscape".The only commonality I've determined so far is that the two sites/apps affected both use Master pages (nested in some cases).We don't use SVG file types (just the normal mix of jpg/gif/png) and no video/audio (not yet anyway).Can anyone provide a hint as to where the references for these might be creeping in? e.g. Is it a server-level include? Or a .Net runtime default when using master pages?Does anyone else even experience this, or is it just me?
View 1 RepliesThe error is mentioned below, the cssfriendly.dll is in bin, and browser file is in there app_browsers folder. And it is working in same PC (developping PC), on remote server that belong to my company (i just installed .net 3.5 on that server)
I tried uploading the same site on 2 dufferents hosting, and finally i got the same error. What could gone wrong ? I tried contacting the hosting support but they work in ticketing system and this is extremely slow.

In the code below, I learned to use a trigger to either display or hide a panel (pnlMaidenName_Edit) when the user clicks on either side of a radio button (rblGender_Edit). The problem now, however, is that whenever rblGender_Edit is assigned a SelectedValue of 2 for female, the hidden textbox displays in a location way out of position from where it should be. Also, the radio list button displays again, as shown in the following screenshot, near where the textbox now displays.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why any .aspx page that I drop an Ajax HTML editor on will then become painfully slow to load and update.And more importantly is there anything that can be done about it to speed it up?I am using VS2010 and targeting ASP.Net 4.0 web application and I am using the AjaxControlToolkit version 4.1.40412.2.
View 8 RepliesI have masterpage which includes dropdown list for choosing skins for page.
Also I have Home.aspx include above master page. This Home.aspx contains update panel[up1] which further comprises of gridview, link button, image button[IB] and dropdown list. Also there is one modal popup that has a panel which includes dropdown and text box.
Requirement: when i click image button[IB], modal popup opens up and home.aspx gets grayed up.
Issue: when i click image button[IB], modal popup opens up, but all dropdowns placed in[Home.aspx and Master page] get disappeared[invisible]. Once i close modal popup , they are visible.
I have three panels on a page:
panel_A has a gridView gv1 with PageSize = "5" OnRowCommand = "LoadCompanyInfo" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging1"
Panel_B has gridview gv2 with PageSize = "5"
OnRowCommand = "SelectEmployee" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging2"
Panel_C has labels CompanyID, CompanyName, EFirst, ELast and EMiddle.
Panel_A panel_B and panel_C are in an update panel.
Each row in gv1 is a LinkButton, so if I click on a row, it runs a method 'LoadCompanyInfo' which updates the labels in panel_C and also populates the gridview on panel_B. This part is working fine, when I click on a row in gv1, it updates the labels text in Panel_C and populates gv2 in panel_B. I am having the following issues:
1. When I click on a row in gv2, it makes the labels text in panel_C blank and gv2 also becomes blank, shows EmptyDataText. I expect it to just update EFirst, ELast and EMiddle. in panel_A.
2. When I click on the next page no on gv1 it fires LoadCompanyInfo method first and then goes in the gridView_PageIndexChanging1 event. I expect it to go in the gridView_PageIndexChanging1 event only and show next page in gv1 and not in LoadCompanyInfo, because I am just clicking on page no 2 not row 2.
3. gv1 refreshes on a timer event OnTick = Timer_Tick, and it clears off data in panel_B and panel_C. I want it to just update panel_A.
I guess I will have to set up nested Update panels to accomplish this.
I have set executionTimeout in web.config to 3600 (which I found out that the scripttimeout will follow this value), and in the production server, I have set debug=false, session time out = 20 min. sql command time out = 1200 seconds
However, when the application is performing heavy sql task that exceed 90seconds, I got the 'Page Could Not be Displayed' error.
When I change debug=true, the application works fine. The application also works fine when I turn off the 'Show HTTP friendly message'.
I have been asked to design & develop a page in asp.net which contains 7 tabs. Each table contains 2 Editable gridview & clicking on gridview cell should open a popup & that popup will open a new popup ( I would say nested popup). Even when I switch from one tab to another. It should hold the griddata & whenever user will finish all the operations he/she will click on save button which will save all the data contained in the tabs. The page is really too heavy. It will definitely take a long time to load as it contains gridview operations, popup related jobs, tab data & tab switching. I am finding the best way I can achieve this with an acceptable speed of operation.
View 3 RepliesMy question is today, i have a web system. its every we need send more than 1000 emails to system users and for their activity. its must we need send from asp.net application. so i have written common class to send email its worjing well. but when i'm use without thread it take time to send email adn re direct to thier pages. but after that i try use this

I am developing a a web application of a general store where the operator has to enter the things what customer has purchased. Like daily usage item,or anything. So I have form in which I first ask how much item u wannt to register...(if he has 20-30 number of items then operator will enter 20-30 then in gridview 20-30 item are opened. With bind dropdownbox containing name of item ,then textboxs containing mrp, value, stock avail of that item. Here is the link for demo. [URL]. Problem is suppose the operator enter the value above 20, then viewstate size id about 1.50Mb that's too heavy.

In my application i am getting data fROM sql server 2008.It is coming from collection of nearly 12 tables. I have to fillter this data in my application and of fillter data i have to write Xml.
my problem is that to fillter i need to that retrieve data to hold in my application and to achieve this i am using the help of dataset and datatable.But most of time when i am running application ,my application getting hang and very slow OR getting crashes.
I am trying to find the best way to have a page with a lot of data from queries to a database load faster. Looking at [URL], when viewing information about a domain, I see that their page loads and each section has a loading symbol, so the page itself displays fast and the data comes when it is available. How do they do this? Update panels around each section with a call to a Web Service? Also, Google AdWords seems to do this too when you load the Ads or Keywords tabs of a Campaign.
View 3 RepliesWhat should be the approach while designing when you know that your page would take considerable time to load? e.g. if it has controls which are heavy & some which are lighter? Can we make use of any of the design patterns to solve this issue?
View 4 RepliesWe are migrating a project from classic Asp.Net web forms to Asp.Net MVC. I have followed the fours steps outlined here [URL] and all is working well. Now I want to get Visual Studio to include MVC item templates in the "add new item" dialog. So I add {F85E285D-A4E0-4152-9332-AB1D724D3325}; to the <projecttypeguids> element in the csproj file. So this succeeds in adding MVC support to the Visual Studio "add new item" dialog, but now the build fails. And it fails in the strangest way. The three projects that make up the solution each complete with "build succeeded" but the process ends with a message
Build: 2 succeeded or up-to-date, 1 failed, 0 skipped
I am able to F5 debug, but I am not able to publish. We are using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and migrating to MVC 2.0. Anyone have any ideas why the build is failing after adding this project type guid?

I got the following datalist populated with 12 images a page average size is 75kb.If i move the scrollbar in internet explorer up and down it goes very laggy and stuttering, while firefox has noproblem at al fast and smooth. If i remove the images there is noproblem. if i disable the setting smooth scrolling in ie it's a little better but still not good enough. I can't seem to find a way to get this right is there some kind of script or am i doing something wrong. Or maby do i have to put the datalist in a user control?

On App_Theme folder I have lots of images, and when I open VS2008 it performs really slowly performance.
it takes about 10 minutes to open the solutopn, and when trying to view site on browser it takes more 10 minutes to view the first page. after that, it is OK.
I have a web page that I have a media control player on along with other controls in a table.It's a training video, so the controls are not visible.So the user can advance to the next web page,I thought I would have a button control inside an update panel with a time control so that the user had to watch the video and then the button control would appear after the video completed.I'm setting the button update panel to NOT visible and then turning it one when the time control elapses the same amount of time that the video runs.My problem is that when I set the visible property of the update panel to NOT visible it also makes the media player's panel NOT visible too.They are in two different panels.The medial player in a standard panel and the timer control connected witha separate panel that contains the button for the user to proceed. When I set the visible property to "true" the media player runs but the update panel with the button is visible also.

This is the code for the update panel and continue button that is in a separate table cell.I even split the table and so this is in a completely separate table but I still get the same behavior.
i have a button,i want when a button is clicked a alert message should be display, i wrote the code like this
protected void btn1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Write("<script>alert('Your account has been created')</script>");
}
It work well, but when it pop-up background color become gray,i want when it pop-ups,the background should remain same .
like when we click on button which is associated with confirmbuttonextender..the background become fade but it doesn't go blank..

But each time I do this, the ViewData object seems to disappear (intellisense doesn't show it). Also, Model goes away too. I must be making a really simple/dumb mistake. I also tried to Import the namespace containing the CompanyModel class on the same aspx, but that doesn't do anything.
When I try to view the page in the browser I get this error:
Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<CompanyModel>'.
