i have a physical microsoft office word file in the c drive
what i want to do is that when i press a button i open a microsoft office word located on the c drive then i add some text to it using c# code
then i want to open the file (that i edited and located in memory) in mircosoft office word to see the text that i have added
everything works fine but when i press the button i get a prompt that says do you want to open the file or save it .
questions:
so how can i directly open the file (located in memory) in microsoft office word without this prompt
also if i choose open from the prompt the file opens in the read only mode and the title of the file in the microsoft word become the name of the aspx page which is Default.aspx
so what is going wrong here

I'm not in love with the idea of opening word and closing it everytime there's an upload (which I hope is a lot of the time) I'd like to make this a shared object that loads at application start. I have 2 questions
that go along with this. 1. I imagine that winword could lock up and that would be a problem, right? 2. to save a document I use wordapp.ActiveDocument, this could have an issue as a shared object, right? I think I'm talking myself right out of this...

C# - Why Does Web Application Timeout Using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word
Feb 21, 2011I have been using using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word in my webserver (yes, i know it is not recommended). When I ran it on my machine, it runs fine, but when running on the server I get a timeout on the following line:Documents.Open //when trying to open the file.Is there something I'm missing? Is there a better way to edit a Word document within web servers/websites? (I can't create a new one using string builder or outputting into file; I need to edit an existing one that sits on the server.)

while I still had Office 2007 still on my development PC. I recently upgraded to Office 2010 and even though the web.config file still remains with the above assembly reference, when I publish it and run it now i keep getting the following error ...

Using Visual Studio 2010 at home and at office.What is the easy way to do this in Visual Studio 2010?(Have been using Dreamweaver earlier, and then I just used FTP to upload my files to a webserver and download them at my office. Is this the "solution" in Visual Studio as well?

Aug 13, 2010I have developed a website that allows users to upload office documents then uses the office object model to convert the document to an HTML file that it then displays in an iFrame. I have, of course, included references to Office.interop.word, and the site works fine on my development machine. When I uploaded it to my production server the site functions fine until I try to upload a document. I initially got a similar error that said "COM object not registered". I realized that Word wasn't installed on my production server. So I installed word and now when the server tries to access the word object model I receive the following error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I searched the registry for the corresponding CLSID and found a corresponding folder. I added full control to the IUSR_ account and due to the persistence of the error I eventually added full control to "everyone" and ensured these permissions inherited down to the rest of the folder. I then added full control to IUSR_ and again eventually added full control to "everyone" to my microsoft office folder. I don't know what other permissions to grant and where in order to make this "Access is denied" error go away. I must be granting them in the wrong place, because as far as I know I can't be any more permissive than "Everyone" "Full Control".

How To Open Varbinary Word Doc As HTML
Jan 25, 2011I have a problem which I have not been able to find an answer to in months. I store word doc resumes as varbinary(max). I can retrieve the resumes based on a full-text search - no problem. But the resumes are retrieved as word documents in a .ashx file with the following code. I really need to implement hit highlighting on the site so that users can see if the returned resume is a good fit or not. I don't think this can be done from an .ashx file, so I think I need to be able to open the resume as html in an aspx page and maybe use javascript to do the hit highlighting or perhaps return the text only content of the word document somehow and manipulate the text before display with html tags. I cant find anything anywhere which addresses the problem.
