Visual Studio :: Export Project So Can Open It At Remote Office?
Jan 30, 2011
Im newbie to Visual Studio 2010 and asp.net. Have been working on a asp.net webpage project as home for some days now, and want to bring with me all project files to my office to continue work there. Using Visual Studio 2010 at home and at office. What is the easy way to do this in Visual Studio 2010?(Have been using Dreamweaver earlier, and then I just used FTP to upload my files to a webserver and download them at my office. Is this the "solution" in Visual Studio as well?
I am not able to debug a Remote web project (Where the project files are located in another server which is in the same network). I am getting the below error message:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at System.RuntimeType.InvokeDispMethod(String name, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Object target, Object[] args, Boolean[] byrefModifiers, Int32 culture, String[] namedParameters) at System.RuntimeType.InvokeMember(String name, BindingFlags bindingFlags, Binder binder, Object target, Object[] providedArgs, ParameterModifier[] modifiers, CultureInfo culture, String[] namedParams) at System.RuntimeType.ForwardCallToInvokeMember(String memberName, BindingFlags flags, Object target, Int32[] aWrapperTypes, MessageData& msgData) at Excel.Range.get__Default(Object RowIndex, Object ColumnIndex) at InventoryADD.Button1_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in \10.38.23.228q1uatassettrackInventoryADD.aspx.cs:line 670
It works fine when i try to access the website through IIS. Shud i do some setting changes on VS 2005?
I have copied my asmx hello webservice to a remote server where I tried to open the project I have this message. That I answer yes or no it cannot open the project VS stays blank.Originally I think I have clicked on associate this project with IIS Express. Now I don't know how to revert this.
I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark ). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio.
However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Is there perhaps some way that I can edit the project file so that it will load and compile correctly?
Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully. However, I notice that MVC references in my unit-test project don't seem to be resolved either - is this perhaps because MVC2 isn't actually installed properly?
downloaded a project from a site, the project was built by vs2005.I only have web developer express 2008, when I load the project,it converted the project and opened it but there is nothing in the project. the project is a MVC project, all folders/files are not in the converted project.can I open the project (built by vs2005) using exppress 2008 for MVC? if yes, how?
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work). In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too. Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/
i install url rewrite iis module to my computer i want when i press f5 in visual studio my project work with url rewrite how can i this?my web sites is not seeming in iis.
Just as the subject says, my VS'05 installation hangs when trying to create a new website. I even installed a fresh version of VS08 along side '05 and '08 is doing the same.
I know both these software are old and that I can update to newer version. But I need to do it with those software in particular.I have Visual Studio 2005 and Visual SourceSafe 6 installed on my computer. When I try to open Visual SourceSafe 6 database using Visual SourceSafe 6 directly, I have no problem at all. Then I try to open a project solution I took from SourceSafe using Visual Studio 2005. Right away I receive this messageThe solution appears to be under source control, but its binding information cannot be found. It is possible that the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file or another item that holds the source control settings for the solution, has been deleted. Because it is not possible to recover this missing information automatically, the projects whose bindings are missing will be treated as not under source control.
Then an invite to chose a SourceSafe Database open. I click on BROWSE. First thing I noticed : The SourceSafe available databases list is empty (while I remind, it's not in SourceSafe 6. I can see there the COMMON database and the VSS database which is located on a different server on our network. Before that, I went in TOOLS->OPTIONS->SOURCE CONTROL, and make sure Visual Source Safe was selected as the Plug-in to use for a Source Control). So I click again on Browse, and locate my srcsafe.ini file. Everything is OK. It evens confirm me that my database path is \dev2k3programmationVSS and that my database name is indeed VSS. So it found it. I then click on OK.
But when I do, the Database is not added to my available list, at all. The result, I can never select a source control, ever, which end in me not being able to work connected to the main source control of our network. Everything is working fine on every other computer in our company. Only this one have problem.Did I give enough description to my problem? I really need help on this one, because working disconnected from Source Safe can give a lot of pain to our team. Can anyone give me an hand? If you need any more info, just ask.
I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.
I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
How do I connect to a remote site in IIS 7.5 using vwd 2010? vwd 2010 appears to be looking for deprecated software instead of the IIS 7.5 supported protocol using webdav. My application uses a cookie authentication from a central corporate authority and nothing but a legitimate URL is going to work during debugging. There is almost no information in a google search and the only forums.asp.net post from last year says it isn't possible. If MS is no longer supporting FPSE in the new versions of IIS, then what is vwd 2010 doing looking for it--is there a patch or module of some kind that is available to enable webdav access?
