i have one independent form where i am checking read only access of an xml file , if the file is read only then i have to display message in the status bar of MDI form. since i am using independent form to valid xml file, status bar of the MDI form is not displaying the error message. now how to display message?

I have a form that works just fine, problem is that if user leave form open for more than 20 30 min and then click a button on that form the browsers status line shows "Error in page", user then must refresh the page in order for the page function.
View 1 RepliesI have a web form used for importing data from a CSV file. It contains a result panel and a result label, which either show a success message or an error message after the import process. Let me say here I know the page should not be doing the import, but this is legacy code and the client expects only small changes.
My problem is that the result message (label) retains it's previous content and visibility during the next import process, because clearing it during Page_Load or at the beginning of the import method only has effect when the import method is complete and thus the postback is complete.
At the moment, the only solution I can see is to move the import code into a separate class (as it should be), call the import method asynchronously, clear the result message, and thne set then result message when the complete or error callback from the import process is called.
I am pretty new to ASP, so I am unsure how to handle the following scenario
1) User fills out a form
2) ASP validates the form
3) ASP calls WCF Soap Client to insert record into database
4) Soap Client throws a FaultException
5) ASP page catches exception
6) Desire to replace form with custom error message and phone number
How do I do 6?
I don't really want to redirect to another page, and I surely don't want a static error message. I want to include some details from the exception in a more readable format.

I am trying to use the Page class that exposes a property named PreviousPage from my User Control.
I am working in a school and we recently installed a new server running WinServer 2008R2. I want to be able to point people to a URL on our intranet and have them fill out a simple registration form and have this data written to a database. It would also be nice to have some data auto-populate (such as their name).
Is it overkill to set up a sharepoint server and try to do this with Access Webforms? Could I use something like dotnetnuke and find a module that works? Or how about options for writing custom forms?

View 1 RepliesI have a page with a ScriptManager / UpdatePanel. I currently need to PostBack to a https page from an http page (different ports). I also need the same session data. Currently, I copy my form to a new form, and when I postback to my new Target on a new Port, I get a crash in xmlHttp..something. I will have to post more details later.
I'm currently wondering if this is possible. And does anyone know of such a fix. I even tried to Turn off Partial Rendering and I still get crashes. I can't do this until I pull out the scriptManager / UpdatePanel.

View 4 RepliesI have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.

The form will basically have some fields they will fill in for the header then in the related stuf come charge amounts with there types aka partnumbers of sorts and also the ablity to put in there own types / aka partnumbers and there amounts. I wont be housing any amounts they will supply all the information of payment amounts and types.
is there any reason for me to place the session ID within a form, as a hidden form field?
