I handle MVC project first time.
how to validate textbox control in the when I click the button.
I have a usercontrol which has few textboxes and associated validators. (This is for holding common form fields which i include at multiple place.)
This usercontrol doesnot have any buttons.
The user control is included inside a page. The page has other textboxes and a submit button.
How do i ensure the the forms in usercontrol is valid when i click the submit button outside on the page?
I have little strange question. I would like to Validate my Page Controls on the button click which is there in the User Control. This user control is placed on the Page. If I check Page.IsValid property on button click event, it returns false. But Validation Summary message doesn't popup. So user doesn't know what's happening. It will not save the information and it won't give the validation message too.

Whatz wrong with my this code ? I wanna validate two checkbox using if statement ... on Button click
I need to be able to validate multiple validation groups with the click of one button. My Form consists of two text boxes and a drop down list for input. The form also, currently, has three buttons, one for each control. Each of those buttons are tied to a validation control and if the validation is successful, it will add the user inputted data into a database that I have. The interesting part comes when I need to add a forth button which will act as a "Save All" Button. When this button is clicked, I need it to fire the three validation groups.
Is it possible to add multiple validation groups to the "Save All" Button?
I have 3 text box's and a submit button when i enter the values and submit then values are entered in database but when i enter the same values and enter then those values are also entered.......This should not happen...I need a popup window showing there are duplicate values that you have entered.Please give the code for aspx and aspx.cs and data base.
View 11 Replies I have a textbox that I am "custom" validating to lookup in a table to see if the name exists. When I test it out, if it finds a duplicate, the validation results in an error message as I would expect. First is this only works if I add autopostback to my textbox and that I click elsewhere on the page. The other issue is that after I type a string in my textbox, I want it to validate such that if it returns an error, I don't want to submit the form until the validation is good.
How would I programatically set this up?

how am I be able to validate multiple entries (textbox control). It seems that using custom validate is not possible because each validator has one control to validate. In my case, I have to determine if at least one entry was filled with data.
View 4 RepliesI have a grid with checkboxes on each row. If the user checks a box then clicks the delete button which is not on the grid, that row should be deleted. View 4 RepliesI have two buttons on my web form. When clicking on the first button, the event does not fire. Here's what I've placed in the click event handler:
protected void btnRFC_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string strDOB = drpDay.SelectedValue + "/" + drpmonth.SelectedValue + "/" + txtyear.Text;
string strRFC = CURPRFC.CalcularRFC(txtfirstname.Text, txtmiddlename.Text, txtlastname.Text, strDOB );
txtrfc.Text = strRFC;
}
strDOB is needed to get the date fields into one string used in CalcularRFC for the date value. The event handler for the second button is too large to post, but currently works as expected. But, the above handler does not return a value to txtrfc. Can someone point me in the right direction?
how to dynamically generate textbox during button click. for each button click i should get the textbox generated along with labes dynamically ,in asp.net using C#
View 4 RepliesI am trying to develop a piece of code that will allow a user to enter data into a text box and have the option creating another textbox to enter more data. Here is my code. The issue I am running into is the dynamically generated textboxes overwrite the previous one.
<asp:WizardStep runat="server" Title="wsMakeModel">

When I click the button the values of my label and texbox become null. Here's my code not working loses values when button is click
Code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string bid_id = Request.QueryString["bid_id"];
Label1.Visible = false;
if (!IsPostBack)
[Code] ....
Code:
protected void placeBid_texbox_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (User.Identity.IsAuthenticated)
{
SqlConnection cn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["LocalSqlServer"].ConnectionString);
[Code] .....
<asp:TextBox ID="TxtDeptName" runat="server" class="formField"
Width="188px" AutoPostBack="True"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button ID="Save" runat="server" CssClass="ibutton" Text="Save"
Height="30px" Width="70px" />
The problem is, when i type something in Departmetn textbox, and click on the button, you have to click twice to get the actual results up. This is because the first click is doing the "AutoPostBack" part from the text box, and then you have to click again to make the actual click postback to happen.
I have written a user control that captures some user input and has a Save button to save it to the DB. I use a repeater to render a number of these controls on the page - imagine a list of multiple choice questions with a Save button by each question.
I am loading the user control inside the repeater's ItemDataBound event like this (code simplified):
[code]....
The problem is that when the Save button is clicked, the page posts back, but lbnUpdate_Click is not called. The Page_Load event of the page itself is called however.
I should mention that the repeater is part of a user control, and that user control is loaded inside another user control (this is a DotNetNuke site which makes heavy use of user controls). The Save button link looks like this:
javascript:__doPostBack('dnn$ctr498$AssignmentsList$rptAssignments$ctl04$ctl00$lbnUpdate','')
i have form thats in a master page, and the controls are created dinamicly.
i have a textbox that set a value that comes from a database.
when i clic a button in the vb page, i have a new value to show, but when i set the new value for the textbox, show the first one.
if i instead put the value in a cell, it show the value perfect,if i use this code, doesnot show
Dim TRC As New TableRow
Dim TCC As New TableCell
Dim HIDDEN1 As New TextBox
[Code]....
if i use this code, show
Dim TRC As New TableRow
Dim TCC As New TableCell
Dim HIDDEN1 As New TextBox

How do I write code for an asp:button in vb that will scroll to a textbox on the html page when clicked?
View 1 RepliesI have textboxes being generated by a repeater that use OnTextChanged with autopostback enabled so that I can know when when the values change. This all works perfect.The problem starts when I try to click on any buttons on the page. The loss of focus triggers the event for the OnTextChanged; however, the event for my buttons never get fired. I checked this in the debugger and while debugging if I put a break-point in the page_load it will call both; however, without the break-point it still only calls the OnTextChanged event.I found this post on JavaScript. If my problem is also JavaScript related, why does the clicking of the button fire in debug mode?

I'm trying to let a user enter the name of a website in a textbox and click on a button. When the button has been clicked the website URL should be sent to a method which will use a WebBrowser to navigate to the website and take a screenshot of it. Further it should afterwards grab this screenshot and generate a thumbnail of it.
... And the tricky part
The tricky thing is that according to MSDN the System.Drawing should not be used in neither Windows or ASP.NET services, which leaves me with 2 approaches:
Ignore the MSDN and implement the class which contains the necessary methods.
Create a WCF Service with the necessary methods.
I want to call Textbox.OnTextChange event without having to click a submit button or any button. How can I do this? As I enter text in the textbox, I want the ontextchange event to fire.
I would elaborate this further.I've a function for validating my entry in textbox which I'm calling ontextchange property.Now this function should be called without me changing focus from my textbox.
I have a webform set up at [URL]When a user submits that form, I want the browser to go to
[URL]. I want the values in the First and last name textboxes from the form to post into two lables that would replace that line in the first paragraph of the agreement.I think this is using the postback feature, but I am unsure exactly how this would be implemented.
I just don't understand how this is done. I've gone through several questions here and from a few other websites.
Basically, a company will be adding process steps, and I want there to be a textbox with a button next to it that reads "Add another step." Once clicked, a new textbox will appear beneath the current one, and the button will be moved next to the new text box. What do I need to do?
