View 1 RepliesI am using nant-0.90-alpha1 to build asp.net 3.5 web site. I am unable do that. When I am using msbuild , it throwing error saying unknown tag msbuild. How can I build asp.net 3.5 website using nant?
View 3 RepliesAs virutal directory points to physical path of the application, so if the IIS root directory is C:inetpubwwwroot and the application is stored at D:websites, than we need to create a virtual directory but if the application content is placed at C:inetpubwwwroot, then why still need to create virtual directory.
View 3 RepliesI was running it directly from Visual studio which resulted in this error :) I can clearly see the images when I run it directly from IIS!
I've created a website under IIS and have successfuly pointed it to my project. The path to my project under IIS is:
[URL]
I, then created a virtual directory under website cartoon named cartoon_images but it creates it under localhost:36011/cartoon_images/ instead of localhost:36011/cartoon/cartoon_images/
As you can see, virtual directory is under the website "cartoon" but I can't access it as cartoon/cartoon_images/
I'll need to give links to this virtual folder but I can't do it in this case if I'm not mistaken.
I have a asp.net website in the IIS which is available on internet as www.xyz.com now I have been asked to prepare another website which will be accessed via www.xyz.com/abc.
For this, do I need to create a virtual directory under the website folder XYZ in IIS? or is there any other way to achieve this.
I have a C# program used to build and deploy a suite of websites.
I would like to programatically interact with IIS so that it changes where the virtual directory for a test system points to based the result of the build.
I have a Nant build script which referrences 30 other build scripts.
Each build script referrences a visual studio solution using MSBuild.
Each solution has 3 to 5 projects in.
Some projects are Class Librarys and some are Web Apllications.
The projects reference other projects both in their solution and out of their solution, so the projects do not use project references, they reference the the Release DLLs in the Bin folders of the other projects.
To use the software, I need to publish all the solutions together.
Which means I cannot do a deployment which is in debug mode.
Which means I cannot the step into and debug the code.
I would like to run the build script to get a deployment of the software which I can debug.
I have the following nant task:
[code]
this is used when loading certain assets (swf files) by being appended as a querystring parameter and ensures that when debugging a cached version isn't received but is manageable once released.
However, after what I believed should be compiling a relase build, the version is still being set as a Guid indicating I'm not achieving a release build yet. I've checked the web.config and the value of debug is changed to false so I'm assuming I'm missing some setting in the aspnet_compiler.exe arguments, but I cant find anything which indicates such in the documentation.
I have an ASP.NET MVC application for which I store uploaded content files in a virtual directory. This virtual directory is directly underneath my MVC website in IIS. My problem is that the virtual directory allows anonymous access. Anyone, logged in or not, can type in a public URL to my virtual directory and read the files in it. Is it possible to configure IIS (or something else) in a way that forces any requests to this virtual directory to run an authentication/authorization routine before allowing access?
Is this something I can configure in my website's web.config, or does the request never hit any server side code in this case? If it never hits server side code (and feeds the request directly to IIS), how can I change my implementation to require my site to authenticate/authorize and then serve my file.
Assuming here that I have full control over the server.I'm looking for a sample code that would help me understand how to create a new virtual directory on the IIS pointing to say C:

I am developing an ASP.NET 3.5 website using Visual Studio 2008 professional on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. The website is hosted on the local machine IIS with no problems at all. I got a new server (Windows Server 2008 R2), I created a new virtual directory on IIS to host my website. When I try to publish it, I get this error: "The Web server does not appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed." I have searched online and it appears that FrontPage extensions have been removed from IIS 7.5

Unable to create the vitual directory. To aceess local Web sites, you must install the following IIS components:

how to create a asp.net mvc form helper that takes virtual directory into consideration? In testing our dev server has: [URL] production is: [URL] I need the form post url to reflect if we have a virtual directory or not, is this possible?
View 2 RepliesI have static content like html, css javascript stored in DB. when a user requests for these i create a temp file in virtual directory and return the url. My web app is hosted on a IIS server. On some systems on creation of a file my IIS Application pool crashes and restarts. If i disable file-monitoring though the problem is resolved, but i dont have this luxury when i am deplying at the client end. Is there any way by which i can avoid app pool crash during file creation? If not is there any way by which i can serve static content like html, css, images, xml and js without creating temp files. I would need a generalized way of handling all these data types.
View 1 RepliesI want to allow each user to create a webpage on our domain. example: www.site.com/username
I've created a few pages that get content from database and place it in a folder. I want each user to be able to edit their own data and when they hit "submit". the system will then copy those pages to a folder and modify the code so it read from the right database.
I keep getting "virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS" errors. Is there any way around this error? I want the process to be 100% automatic so that I don't need to manually go into the server and configure the IIS myself.
I am just getting started with Silverlight and have recently added a Silverlight project to an established solution. In this particular scenario my solution included an existing ASP.NET web site which Visual Studio kindly offered to integrated my Silverlight application into, which I accepted.
So everything is fine and all, and the Silverlight XAP is being copied to the web site's ClientBin directory when i was buiding solution through visual studio, But
I want same thing through using nant script when i am used nant script that time all project in the solution are build but recenty added silverlight website do not create XAP's in ClientBin dierctory.
I m using following script :-
target name="build" description="compiles the source code">
exec program="${framework::get-framework-directory(framework::get-target-framework())}
msbuild.exe" commandline="MY.sln" workingdir="ProjectFolder" />
I have a WCF service in a virtual directory that is called in the code behind of a page that is in the parent directory, when i debug the code i can see the wcf service is being called, however when the service calls Membership.GetUser() it alway returns null. The user has already logged in to the asp.net site. When i call the service via jquery it does pick up the correct user, but i need to be able to call it via the code behind as well. I am developing in .Net 3.5 how i can make the Wcf pick up the logged in user?
View 3 RepliesI made a web form on a development website of mine (we'll call it dev.somewhere.com) and tried to publish it out to the web (we'll call it [URL]) in a subfolder. I named it default.aspx like I was supposed to and it worked flawlessly on the dev site. When I published it out the web, I wound up getting the following error when trying to get to the subfolder: [URL] Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. Confused and flustered, I tried to go to [URL], but I wound up with some error that won't tell me the problem. Instead it tells me to change the my web.config to read <customErrors mode="Off"/>.
I want to write a class using c# and compile it and user this dll in many projects.
I know how to build a website in Visual Studio and publish it but Visual Studio mixes the classes and rename them to a few strang and unfamiliar names which doesn't mean anything. So my purpose is writting a class with some functions, compling them and use them in other projects.
