May 20, 2013I have just started with ASP.NET.
I like the idea of using Include files so that I can create various versions of individual parts of a site and decide in code which to display. I used:
<%Response.WriteFile("contentcontent.aspx")%>
to include a content.aspx file within my default.aspx page.
I would like to include a Left.aspx, Main.aspx and Right.aspx file inside the content.aspx file. I tried using the reponse.writefile function but noticed when I debug the website that the text "reponse.writefile..." displays instead of the code contained within the referenced file(s).
Can this not be done?
AJAX :: Toolkit Tabpanel Not Expanding To Include Image?
Jul 28, 2010I am using the tab container/tab panel AjaxToolkit Runtime version 2.0.50727 with Visual Studio 2008. Everything expands (increases the height) perfectly with labels, texboxes, grids, etc. and there is a border around everything since I kept the default settings. I added an asp:Image and now the bottom border goes through the image. I put the image last. How do I increase the image size? I am using a Master page and put the tabcontainer in an updatePanel. For displaying the image, I create an HTTPHandler ShowImage.ashx.cs so that I can pull it out of the database and view it. Viewing the image works great in a web page without the tabcontainer.Here's my code:Page.aspx

I am currently using some $common functions, like getContentSize() and so on.
Looking at the source code it seems to me that all the paths have been changed, but i cannot understand the right namespace to use with the latest release.

Feb 28, 2011I have a formview with an entityDataSource. I need to include columns from related fields. I have seen many demos, with AdventureWorksDB, that imply that you can do this by using INCLUDE in the entitydatasource declaration. I have tried made many attempts and it just does not seem to work as demonstrated. I have attached the errors below and the EDS. I have also attached a JPEG of the model I am working in. Three errors demonstrating 3 different attempts to include a related table:

Jan 21, 2011Trying to use a dropdownlist to query a database so that it will return all values except 1 (or more in future versions).
For example, assume you had a simple table name "MYFRIENDS" which has two fields named "GROUP" and "NAME" with the following records:

Name
A
John
B
Jane
C
Tony
D
Sue
What I want to do is create a DropDownList that has only 2 list items related to the "GROUP" field. The first list item should return records from the database related to Group A only. Then, the second list item should return all other records EXCLUDING those belonging to Group A.
The drop down list should look something like this (I've put a question mark where I don't know what to do):

After the selection is chosen in the above drop down list, it should query the database and return the desired result. I'm using an AccessDataSource with select parameters. Here's a sample of what that looks like:

Things I've tried that didn't work:
I tried using "Not A" as the the 2nd list item's value. I was thinking p1 would be replaced with the value "Not A" and the query would read "WHERE GROUP LIKE Not A". But, the query syntax "Like Not" is technically wrong. I tried changing the Where Clause to "WHERE GROUP p1" and then replaced the list item's value to "LIKE A" and the second to "NOT LIKE A". Again, I was thinking p1 would be replaced to read "WHERE GROUP LIKE A" and "WHERE GROUP NOT LIKE A". I also tried changing the "SelectCommand" itself so that after the dropdownlist changed, it would first change the selectcommand first and then run the query.
Why the first 2 items didn't work became somewhat obvious to me after thinking about it for a little while. However, I would think the 3rd one would/should work... as long as you have the sequence of events correct which up to this point I haven't been able to figure out.

May 26, 2010I have a gridview bound to a List<> which shows all compliments received by our company. The list is refreshed every time the page loads and (IsPostBack == false).When I run the application, the list binds to the gridview and all is good. I am using the gridview.SelectedIndex value to return the correct item from the list, add it to a session variable and move to a new page to edit it.This works perfectly until I insert a new record on a separate page and then return to the default page. The list refreshes correctly and displays the new record in the gridview, but the gridview indexes seem to still be attached to their previous records i.e. clicking the edit button in the top row (index 0) returns the data from the 2nd row (index 1).I've tried binding the list directly, and I've tried using an objectdatasource. I've also tried setting EnableViewState and EnableCaching to false on the gridview (and the objectdatasource when using it). None of this has updated the indexes.

Mar 30, 2011I have a parent table and a child table. Essentially the parent table is called Contracts and the child is called Programs. Each Contract can have multiple Programs and in the Programs table I have a column called amount. On my page I have created a DetailsView that lists the columns of the Contract table. I would also like to include on this DetailsView a field that sums the Amounts column of all programs associated with this contract. How would I go about doing this? Currently I have a LinqDataSource that pulls all the columns from the Contract table and I have bound the DetailsView to this datasource.

Mar 11, 2010I created a simple search form which populates a gridview from sql server. I use 'contains' on a varchar(max) field which has a full text index. I find if I do a search for "Mexico Argentina", I get multiple results, which is good.One thing my sql server stored procedure is doing is inserting the word 'AND' between words. I do this because I want all words to be found. So if the user inputs "Mexico Argentina", I am converting that to "Mexico AND Argentina"But if I have even one 'noise word' in the search string, I get no results at all. For instance, there might be a sentence in my database table saying "I prefer Mexico to Argentina" but if I put that sentence in, I get no results at all. The database is seeing my converted string:I AND prefer AND Mexico AND to AND ArgentinaAnd finds nothing.I also have another form, which does a more advanced search that allows 'exact phrase'. If the user chooses 'exact phrase', then I don't insert AND anywhere. Instead, I surround his phrase with 4 apostrophes - 2 before the phrase, and 2 after.So now the database sees:' ' I prefer Mexico to Argentina ' ' (I've put a space between apostrophes here to make it clearer to view.Now I not only get no results, I get an error message.

The question is, when I use "ResolveUrl" in tag, IDE is always barking about that all CSS classes is undefined.
Is there any better way to define .css file including?
