I have an application that takes a long time to open odbc connections (like 20 sec) also takes forever using arcmap and arcsde but when I try the connection on the odbc data source administrator, it tests it really fast. Does anyone have any idea of what my be causing this? btw the application works fine in another computer with another database

I tried to use odbcfor the entity framework, but the Wizard always add the right .NET Provider and not the odbc
there is an upgrade to my infimacs server and my web application encounter this error after the infimacs is upgraded.
Below is the information on the server before/after the upgrade.

The web server where the web application hosted is running IBM Informix Connect 2.81. There is no such error before the upgrade is done.
As a developer, i have IBM Informix Client-SDK 2.90 installed on my local pc and debug the page where the read is needed from infimacs but no such error found.
The error come out only when it is hosted on the web server where IBM Informix Connect 2.81 is installed.
I have gone through many articles and it suggest me to set the environement variable in the server : DB_LOCALE=en_us.819.
I haven't try this solution but i think that this might not be the best solution.
Is it possible to to to have this setting in the web application ?Does anyone has idea on this?Is it true that there is no other solution than setting the environemetn variable DB_LOCALE?

I am currently making a website on asp.net and i am creating methods using TableAdapter. I am connected to MySql using an ODBC connection. The select * from department will work perfectly for me but when trying to use parameters i am given an error message on the wizard. select * from department where name = @name gives me the error: Error in where clause near '@' unable to parse query text. also tried select * from department where name = ?: this gives me the error: No mapping exists from dbTypeObject to a known Odbc type.
View 3 RepliesI have an ASP.net web service application that connects to a Progress OpenEdge 10.1B database via ODBC. My development machine is XP Pro and runs everything fine. I am now moving the application into a test environment. The test machine is also XP Pro. It matches the dev machine except for that the Progress Server is not running locally. I am able to run the project out of VS2010 and the web service makes the ODBC connection and returns the data without error. When I deploy the application to IIS (which is running locally) the ODBC connection fails with this error: *System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (OpenEdge 10.1B driver).*

I'm busy working on an ASP.NET Web Application (3.5) and can't seem to connect to a MySQL DB. I first created the entire application using a WinForms template and everything works 100%, but as soon as I move the exact same code to the Web Application, I can't connect anymore. Here's the code:

As noted this works in a WinForms app, and even more strange is that I don't even specify a DSN name...
All I could find from reading through forums all over the internet is suggestions of downgrading the MySQL ODBC driver version, which I'd really rather not...
I'm using an ODBC connection to connect a SQL 2005 database to my ASP.NET app in Visual Web Developer Express. I'm finding that the expected functionality that tutorials review does not work for ODBC connected databases the same way as it does for SQL databases created in the Web Developer. For example, I can't use stored procedures because the option to create one is disabled in the Web Developer, and if I create the stored procedure in SQL Server Management Studio Express, it doesn't show up in Web Developer because Web Developer only finds the system stored procedures, not the user-defined ones. I've seen other cases as well where database management options in Web Developer don't work with ODBC databases.
Am I missing something in my setup, or is there an inherent limitation with ODBC connected databases? Or, is this a limitation with using the Express versions of these development tools?

i want to search for data in informix using a like('%Name1%') from my .NET application. The query that i have written is something like this:
select * from tableName where columnName Like CONCAT('%',CONCAT('Name1','%')) ......
this query when run from the front end does not yeild the desired result set ......however when i execute it from the db level i get the correct result .... also an intersting thin that i noted is ...if i do a LIKE('%' || 'Name1' || '%') from the front end i get a syntax error ...however this works just fine when i execute the query from the db...... ive spent over 10 hrs trying to figure this out ......but have not found a solution for it on my own ...... also, the following works perfectly :select * from tableName where columnName LIKE CONCAT('%','Name1') .....from the application...
likewise select * from table name where columnName like CONCAT(Name1,'%') works ...........* the vale fields need to be replaced with a '?' in the front end ...informix automatically replaces it when executing the command statement....so the commantext for all informix commands look something like this :

parameter is 'Name1'

View 3 RepliesThis is regarding ASP.Net (VB) 2.0 and SQL Server 2008. My project's (there is only one in my solution) has a "Start Action" set to a "Specific Page" (..FormsfrmMain.aspx). Occasionally (though not always) a large number of connections (30+) will be opened prior to the frmMain.PreInit event. These connections stay open for quite some time. I am closing all of my connections with extreme prejudice. In my "finally" clause of my try...catch I have myconnection.close. Immediately after the "End Try" I have myconnection.dispose (redundant, I know). I have accounted for all connections. I placed a breakpoint on frmMain.PreInit and then (sometimes) a large number of connections (used SSMS to run sp_who and sp_who2) will have just opened.What would open a large number of connections prior to the starting page's preinit event? I am closing (and then disposing) all of my connections. I thought that I must be missing a myconnection.close in the "finally" clause, but I have looked repeatedly and cannot find anywhere that a connection is open and then not closed. Also, I do not believe that I have even opened a connection prior to the frmMain's preinit event.
