Insert Unique Date From Textbox?
Nov 28, 2010i need code to be able to check if (the date in a textbox) is already (used) in the database or not, if yes then give an error message!!

When an administrator logs in, they go to the main admin.page. From there, they can create a new complaint record-here is where i'm stuck and am looking for a better way. When the admin loads the create.aspx page. i need a way go generate a unique number that i can insert into the db. What is the best way to generate the number...i don't care whether it's numerical or combo, just unique and durning postback the number does not change...the number will be given out as a reference back to the complaint... Jun 8, 2010I have a datatable and I want to have a view on it with unique dates. The thing is that I want the date to be unique if the year,month and day are the same, I dont care for the exact time.
I now have:
Dim dtUniqueDates As System.Data.DataTable
dtUniqueDates = dt.DefaultView.ToTable(True, "updatedate")
So in this case 12 february 2011 13:54 is different from 12 february 2011 15:54. But since year,month and day are the same I want them to be unique.

Apr 29, 2010I have some issues about retrieveing and storing date information to my database (ms sql server 2005).My data column is a DateTime, and i have set my web.config globalization culture is set to "en-gb"
When i retrieve date from the datebase it appears as dd/MM/yy, that's fine. But i cannot insert a new date as same format?! It will only accept MM/dd/yy or yy/mm/dd.Right now i'm using this code to correct the error:

Sep 27, 2010I'm not really much of a programmer but I've been working on something in visual web developer and VB...'ve got an asp.net page with a fileupload control and two buttons. One button is used to upload the file and then the other button does something else which involves accessing the file name of the uploaded file.
This is straight forward enough if you just use static text but I wanted to create a unique file name for the upload so thought about using a date/time value for this and delcaring it as a variable?This works great but how does the second button then access this file name? If I use the same variable name declared earlier it just generates a new one especially if mins and secs were used?
I'm not sure if that makes sense? But I'm basically wanting to create a unique file name for the uploaded file and then store that in a variable so it can be accessed by the other button? Without the variable constantly updating to a new ID?

Jan 25, 2010what the best way to create text boxes in my loop here so that the IDs are unique instead of just "TextBox" for all of them. I need to add up the Price based on the Price per unit and the Quantity.
My items are loaded from a database so there could be any number of them, so I need to generate the fields on the fly. I was thinking maybe an array of fields could be used like in a form application, or is this not the right way to go?

It is a nvarchar type column.
Is it best to use a unique constraint (if so, how) or what would be the way to programatically check to make sure this name does not exist. It is not a username, just a name value that will be used in routing.

first is lve.text in whicj numder is entered
second one is lvefrom.text
thirdone is lveto.text
when user fills (lve.text) 5 and enter 15 Jan 2013 in lvefrom.text then lveto.text should show 19 Jan 2013. i had posted this earlier and got reply which is mentioned below. this code below gives me 20 Jan 2013 instead of 19 Jan 2013.
tw text boxes lve.text (number filled) and lve from.text (date filled). when user enter a numder in lve.text and select a date fro date picker in lvefrom.text then lveto.text should show date selected in lvefrom.text + number of days in lveto.text (eg if number of days is 5 and date selected in lvefrom.text is 15 Jan 2013 then lveto.text should display 19 jan 2013. because the starting day is also counted in my case.

my problem is that when i store cash data the cheque date by default stores date 1-jan-1900
but I don't want this to happen .....
