Javascript - Disable Button In Update Panel On Async Postback

Sep 30, 2010

I have multiple update panels with various asp buttons on a single page. I want to disable the buttons which caused the postback in update panel untill it completes.

Is there a way to avoid using a third party control for this? through JQuery or any other method ?

Switch From Async PostBack To Full PostBack In An Update Panel?

Aug 20, 2010

Is something like this possible?

Dim iCounter as Integer
Dim iQuantity as Integer = 10
Protected Sub btnFoo_Click Handles btnFoo Yadda
For i as Integer = iCounter to iQuantity - 1
//do something with AsyncPostBackTrigger until iCounter = iQuantity - 1
//then trigger a full postback
Next
End Sub

I am new to the concept and feel like there must be something really easy that I am missing.

AJAX :: Determine If User Control Is Contained By The Update Panel That Triggered Async Postback?

Sep 16, 2010

Does anyone know a simple way to determine if a user control is contained in an update panel that was triggered for async postback?

At the moment, the only pseudo logic for this I can think of is?

'Loop through the update panel controls on the page and find the one that is involved in the postback (isInPartialRendering)

'Try to find the user control as a child of the update panel

Forms Data Controls :: Async Postback Upon Click Of 'Update' Button In GridView?

Feb 9, 2010

I have a GridView within an UpdatePanel - <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true">

Without listing any Triggers, I get a full postback when I visit a particular row within the GridView and click the 'Edit' button for that row.

However, if I enter the following trigger...

<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="GridView1" EventName="RowEditing" />
</Triggers>

...I get an async postback when I click the 'Edit' button for a particular GridView row. This is what I want. In fact, I also get an async postback if I then click the 'Cancel' button for that GridView row which appears after having clicked the 'Edit' button.

However, if I instead click the 'Update' button that appears after having clicked the 'Edit' button, I get a full postback. I have tried almost every GridView EventName

I can find to add to the <Triggers></Triggers> section to get a click of the 'Update' button to result in an async postback, but with no luck.

What EventName should I use in the <Triggers></Triggers> section to get a GridView to do an async postback when clicking the 'Update' button for a particular row?

AJAX :: Disable Button Before Portback Inside Update Panel?

Apr 2, 2010

I have an application that allows users to insert data into a log. The forms are displayed inside update panels and display via modalPopUpExtenders. I am running into a problem where users are able to click the Insert button multiple times before the panel can update that a click was registered.

How can I disable the Insert button once the user clicked on it and had time to communicate with the server? The system is allowing duplicate and triplicates to be inserted into the system.

AJAX :: Refreshing Update Panel Through Javascript Postback?

Mar 17, 2010

In one of my webpage, I have a parent window where i have a datalist with 10 rows of images. when i click any image a pop up window(child window) opens.

The child window has a form to be filled by user. Once user fills this form, he will press the save button. Once the save button is clicked, the child window should be closed and the datalist(in the update panel) in the parent window should be refreshed.

This is how I am trying to achieve this. On click of the save button a javascript function is being called of the parent window like this: window.opener.refreshDataList();

in the refreshDataList() function I have written the following code:

{
childWindow.close();
__doPostBack('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_UpdatePanel1', '');
}

This works like a charm in Internet Explorer. However in Mozilla and Chrome it doesnt work. While testing this I added an alert statement ind the refreshDataList() function like this..

{
childWindow.close();
alert("Testing");
__doPostBack('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_UpdatePanel1', '');
}

Once I added the alert statement, It started working in both mozilla and chrome.

So I realize that It could be an issue related to focus. I have done window.focus()

but still its not recieving any focus and not working in Mozilla and Chrome.

Conditionally Trigger A Full Page Postback From A Link Button Inside Update Panel

Nov 29, 2010

How do I conditionally trigger a full page postback from a link button inside of an update panel?

I have a custom control that contains its own updatepanel with a link button nested inside of it. When the link button is pressed I want its event handler to have the option of either letting the control update as normal or doing a full postback on the page.

Here is the control hierarchy:

Page
Custom Control
UpdatePanel
LinkButton

Event handler Pseudo code:

LinkButton Click Handler Begin
If is a partial post back AND a full postback is needed
Page.DoFullPostback
End If
End Handler

Note: I aways need the partial postback to happen. I was considering injecting a __DoPostback in the controls markup but this seems hacky to me.

AJAX :: Cannot Select Object In Update Panel After A Number Of Async PostBacks

Jan 9, 2011

I am trying to create a simple web application that uses a barcode scanner to read the barcode and then insert the information into a database. I have been able to get the barcode scanner to read the barcode and place the information into a textbox.

Then using javascript when the enter key is triggered on the scanner it then clicks the button to do a AsyncPostBack on the updatepanel then using scriptManager.RegisterStartupScript I then focus on the text box and then select the text in it ready for a new barcode to be entered.

The problem that I am having is that I can get it to post back 26 times then it will go to error (with no information). If I then add additional controls to the page I can only get it to post back 10 times. Below is my code... I have been pulling my hair out for the last two days.

Disabled Submit Button & Javascript Error Outside Update Panel?

Jun 2, 2010

[URL]

I'm using the code the above and running into an error i can't quite figure out. Maybe its something simple or maybe it's something that can't be done. Not sure.

I created a user control (button) that references a javascript file like this:

string url = ResolveClientUrl("./Scripts/main.js");
function SubmitButton_Click(e) {
try {
var src = typeof (event) != 'undefined' ? event.srcElement : e.target;

[Code]....

The error that i am running into is this:

The buttons in the update panel work everytime without any problems. When i click a button in the update panel and then click a button outside the update panel it chockes on this line of the above javascript.

src.aspnet_onclick();

The value of aspnet_click() is 'SubmitButton_Click(e)'. This is incorrect which causes it to choke.

The value should be 'onclick(event)'

For some reason when click the button inside the update panel and then the button outside the update panel causes this javascript error but I am not sure why the aspnet_onclick() is incorrect.

AJAX :: Losing Javascript Events On Async Postback?

Apr 27, 2010

I am creating a ASP.Net server control to manage locations. The control is a composite control containing several text-boxes, labels, and a link button. I use the AJAX Control Toolkit to provide a modal popup which contains a Bing map. All the Javascript is in its own file and used as an embedded web resource.

The link button is what opens the modal popup. It also needs to call a Javascript function that initializes the Bing map (onclick = "GetMap();"). There are instances when this server control is placed within an Update Panel (and there is no way to avoid this). When in an Update Panel the link button loses its onclick event. I understand that this is because during an async postback the portion of the DOM that defines the content of the Update Panel is thrown out and reinitialized, resulting in the event breaking. When the control is not in an Update Panel everything works as intended.

I have tried registering events on Page.Load and Page.Init, like so:

[Code]....

I have also tried flat out writing the function call to the page:

[Code]....

I have put breakpoints on the lines inside each delegate and they do not get hit. I am not aware of any special way to register events of a composite control's child control or the Page.Load/Page.Init events when being done inside a server control. Is there some special way to register these events? (Note: Both those code blocks above are in my CreateChildControls() method)

Below is the GetMap() Javascript function. As you can see it is pretty straight forward.

[Code]....

Update Javascript After Async Post Back In C#?

Feb 4, 2011

I have the following code on my website:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" />
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" id="UpdatePanel" updatemode="Conditional">
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger controlid="myButton_btn" eventname="Click" />
</Triggers>
<ContentTemplate>........

The javascript is running everytime I click the button. However, even though my subroutine updates the session variable after clicking the button, I always get the same alert. In other words, the same javascript is run after postback, and it is not updated. I am positive that the session variable IS being changed.

AJAX :: Modalpopupextender And Update Panel - Disable Controls?

Jan 25, 2010

I have a webpage that contains a ModalPopupExtender who's PopupControlID contains a panel wrapped in an update panel. The panel contains a RadioButtonList and I have subscribed to the SelectedIndexChanged event in which I am setting an OnClientClick event for a button also inside the panel and update panel. My problem is that when the postback fires the controls in the panel are still enabled, that is the user can click the button before it has had a chance to set the OnClientClick code. Other update panels on this page (unrelated to the ModalPopup) seem to disable to use of other controls while the postback is occurring. How can I make this work in my ModalPopupExtender?

Here is my code

How To Disable Usercontrol Postback If Javascript Is Enabled

Oct 20, 2010

I've searched high and low for some resolution to this problem. Hopefully someone here can explain!!I create a usercontrol that uses .NET web controls, but I want to create a smoother user experience by avoiding full postbacks, so I write some JQUERY to capture click events on the client and in this way do the processing without going back to the server.

$("#tblLedgerEntries :checkbox").click(function () {
var value1 = $(this).closest("tr").find("td.invoiceAmount").html();
var value2 = $('#<%=hdnTotalToPay.ClientID%>').html();
CalculateTotalPayable(value1, value2, $(this).attr("checked"));

Javascript - Dynamically Disable A TexBox On PostBack?

Mar 25, 2011

I have an application that is supposed to accept checks. The user has 2 radio buttons. The first radio button has a drop down list associated with it which contains the masked numbers of their previously used checking accounts.

The second radio button has three text boxes and an image of a check associated with it.

When a user hits this page, the three text boxes and the check image associated with the second radio button are disabled. Then, if the user decides he/she wants to use a new checking account, they can click the second radio button and that fires the Javascript that enables the three check boxes and the image of the check associated with that second radio button. If they click on the first radio button, it will re-disable the text boxes and hide the check image associated with the second radio button.

The problem happens when I do my server side validation. After validating all text fields, if there is a problem, I just fall out of the bottom of the code, the page posts back and the labels above the offending text fields show an error message.

One caveat: The Javascript that is supposed to fire on the OnClick event for the first radio button fires and the text fields for the second radio button are disabled. The user can click on the second radio button and the fields will enable, but this is very clunky.

Here's the enable code where I am injecting the Javascript:

Private Sub JavascriptInject()
Dim sEnableControls As String
Dim sDisableControls As String

[Code]....
