Javascript - Stop IFrames To Load From Code Behind?
Nov 18, 2010
I have an ASP.NET page and have a couple of linkbuttons and Iframes. The pages in side of these IFrame take long time to load, I want the user to navigate to another page by clicking one of the linkbuttons. Now, it looks like it is waiting for the the iframes to finish loading when i click on a link button, the page is still trying to load (instead of navigating to different page).
Is there any way I can stop the iframes to load and go to another page?

I've a very complete site in ASP.NET wich uses iframes. I'm working to change an old control we'd been using to show dialogs to use jQuery UI dialogs. I'm also making sure everything works well in IE9.
The fact is: the script I've in the pages shown in iframes is not working in IE9. Why? Because Object, Array and String are undefined. There may be some others issues, I've seen only this ones.
There is no chance (because a lot of reasons) to stop using iframes on some dialogs. And I'd rather not to use the meta tag to force IE8 Compability. Does anyone know any way to fix this uggly bug in IE9?
Edit
Here there's some info that may be helfull:
jQuery code for the iframe in a plugin I've made to config jQuery UI dialog:
options.content = $("<iframe>")
.attr("src", options.intSrcIframe)
.attr("frameborder", 0)
.attr("scrolling", options.intIframeScrolling)
.css("background-color", options.intBgColorIframe)
.attr("height", "100%")
.attr("width", "100%");
_this.html(options.content);

I have 2 iframes in my page and 2 separate pages linked to each of these iframes. In one iframe page a tab control is placed with treeview on each tabs and the tree items are selectable (treeview with checkbox). On navigation of one tab from other an XML document stored in session is being updated with the selected treenode values.
The second iframe page is places on right side of the page which summarize the selected made on the each tabs. To do this, the page is getting loaded on tab navigation and in page load of that page, the treeview id created and displayed. We created the treeview as an object and kept in session variable then added into a panel. The only modified areas require to be updated instead of binding the entire tree on each tab's navigation.
1. The treeview must retain it's collapse/expand status on tab navigation which is not happening now.
2. When I set EnableClientScript property to true, I'm getting error on expand/collapse as Undefined 'somenodename' error. If I set the value as false, then postback is happening which should not.

I am trying to load the following JS method:
<script type="text/javascript">
function initialize(lon,lat) {
var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(lon,lan);
var myOptions = {
zoom: 14,
center: myLatlng,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
}
var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"), myOptions);
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: myLatlng,
map: map
});
}
</script>
In my code behind in VB.NET I then want to load such as:
initialize(53.349803617967446, -6.260257065296173)
I need to load in code behind since I have to get the longtidude and latidude from DB.

I have two user controls and both the user controls refer a same script path:
<script type="text/javascript" src="test.js"></script>
then what happens when the first user controls load then test.js will download in client and when second user control loads then test.js file will download again.
How do I check to see if the JavaScript file is already downloaded so it doesn't have to be downloaded again?
If I include the JavaScript file from the server side:
Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptInclude("test",
Page.ClientScript.GetWebResourceUrl(this.GetType(),
"test.js"));
then how could I make sure it isn't included twice?

I have some code like below in an aspx page:
[code]....
I had thought that returning false would keep my asp.net OnClick even from firing, but it still does. I've confirmed that it is getting to the return false section of code using alerts. Is there anything I can do to stop it from firing using jQuery/javascript?

I'm executing one stored procedure from the '.net' code. Since there is a lot of data, it is taking too much time to execute. Is there any way to stop this execution from the c# code?
In other words, if we execute the query from database itself, there is a option to stop its execution but in the code is it possible?

I have a repeater and a user control on my page, when any of the items in the repeater are selected this refreshes the user control accordingly. However I found that if I selected another item before the page/user control had finished to load it produced an error, when left to let the page/control fully load and reselect no error.Clearly this is interrupting the code before its finished, can I stop this from happening by doing some sort of check to see if the user control has finished loading?

I'm using the Telerik RadWindow control in one of my applications. When a user wants to authorize Twitter for the application the window displays the OAuth dialog for Twitter.
However, each time I display the pop-up for Twitter OAuth, or even just the plain Twitter page, the entire browser is redirected.
The control works just fine when the URL is pointed at a site other than Twitter. I'd like to see if I can block that redirect, or if perhaps there's an easier way to accomplish the OAuth confirmation.

Currently users select a record in a gridview and click on the delete button. Delete button passes certain variables to identify the record, makes a SQL connection and then deletes the record by executing a stored procedure. This is way the delete button's code behind works. Now we need a confirmation box if a certain flag is False. If the users select YES then they should be able to delete any way otherwise clicking on Cancel should stop the operation. I don't want to use the onClientClick event of the button like many examples on Web show, instead I am using the jQuery, that uses the button ID and pops up a confirmation dialog. The issue I am having is even if the Cancel button on the confirmation dialog is clicked it still goes on to run the code behind, executes the stored procedure and deletes the record. The browser being used is IE 7.0, how do I stop the button from running the code behind in the button_click event if they select cancel?
I have tried return false, e.preventDefault();event.propagation, event.returnValue = false etc but can't stop it. Here is the jQuery, that goes to the webservice when clicked and determines whether to display the confirmation or not when another stored procedure returns the record count of 0 or more. Like I said it works fine in getting the flag value from the SQL but does not stop at the client level and continues on to the code behind of btnDelete.
$(function() {
$("#btnDelete]").click(function(e) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "WebServices/myServices.asmx/ConfirmDelete",
data: "{}",
dataType: "json",
error: function(req, msg, err) { alert(req, msg, err); },
success: function(msg) {
if (msg.d == 0 && !confirm("Do you wish to delete this record?")) {
event.preventDefault();
return false;
event.returnValue = false;
}
}
});
});
});

So imagine a piece of Javascript as the first script on a page along the lines of
var MySuperObject = new (function () {
this.SuperObjectInit();
})();
Now imagine that everything that proceeds this script (or a large portion therein) requires the SuperObject to have met its load conditions and loaded correctly.
Assuming for whatever reason the loading of the object fails I need to abort loading the rest of the page and the scripts in particular.
I know the majority of you are going to scream why not have your function issue a callback onSuccess and onFailed but the problem is this is in a ASP.Net project with masterpages, nestedmasterpages, usercontrols and so forth (each of which have their own dependencies and scripts); rendering such an approach problematic.
The other option (I assume) is to use window.location = "myErrorPage.html"; but I dont like the idea of having to create another page for an error message or the fact that it causes a redirect.
What I am hoping to do is something along the lines of
StopLoadingPage();
document.write("Error has occurred");

I am working on an ASP.NET project. When I am debugging, I often want to switch back from my browser to Visual Studio (2008) and edit some code. Visual Studio then won't let me edit the code, unless I explicitly quit debugging first.
Is there any way to configure Visual Studio such that is automatically stops debugging and allow me to edit the code, or do I have to stop it manually each and every time?
Disabling Edit and Continue does allow me to edit the code, but this does not force VS to stop debugging...
