How To Set The Line In Code For Debug And While Running It Does Not Stop
Feb 17, 2011
I set the line in code for debug and while running it does not stop there. So I use System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break(). Sometimes it stops and sometimes the debugger shows a blank screen. All use the same inputs.

I have an puzzling problem. I have a new ASP.NET web application in VS2005 that runs fairly well, but I am having a problem and would like to set a break point to see what is going on. I have compiled the project in Debug mode. I have debug=true set in the web.config. But it appears that the IDE is not attaching to the process at all. Have I overlooked something? I am using the development server and not IIS. This has never been a problem in the past, but is this time.

How can I turn off the loading and downloading of Microsoft symbols?
I downloaded the Microsoft debug symbols for some other tasks but now I no longer want them for current debugging.
I'd like to keep them in the temp directory in case I want to turn them back on.
It's slowing down my debugging.

I'm developing an ASP page and I noticed odd behaviour when I'm trying to step through server side call backs. Specifically some of the time, when I press F10 to execute the next statement the debugger acts like I pressed F5 to continue and takes off. Some of the time stepping works and some of the time it doens't. In addition, testing the same call back I can sometime step several times before it takes off and other times as soon as I click F10 it takes off. If I set explicit breakpoints it will always hit them but as I said, stepping often results in the debugger not stoping on the next statement.
I feel like I didn't have this earlier but I'm mystified as to why it is doing this

I am getting an error when I have a page that has the webdialogwindow on it: I've pinned it down the to fact that a web dialog control is on the page even though the actions taken to cause the error do not reference the control.I've attached a sample application to illustrate the bug.After building the application (VS2008)

I have an ASP.NET web application that takes user input across several forms. Sort of like a wizard. On the first form, the user enters information then clicks the "Next" button. In the Click event of the button I save some information to the Session object (via Properties in the Master page). I then Redirect to the next page. Here is an example of what I am doing:
protected void NextButton_Click(Object sender, EventArgs args)
{
//Go to the next form
Master.SessionVal1 = Value1;
Master.SessionVal2 = Value2;
Response.Redirect("~/TheNextPage.aspx", false);
}
In the MasterPage.cs..
public long Value1
{
get { return (long)Session["Value1"]; }
set { Session["Value1"] = value; }
}
public long Value2
{
get { return (long)Session["Value2"]; }
set { Session["Value2"] = value; }
}
Pretty basic stuff. When I run this in debug mode in VS2008 it works perfectly. When I push this to a test server (IIS7) I get NullReference exceptions when I try to access Value1, Value2, etc. which is stored in the Session object. UPDATE: I have discovered that if I migrate the code to one server I get the problem as described above. BUT, if I promote to another server it works as expected. Both servers are Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. I have looked at the application pool settings and the state management settings and I do not see any differences.

If I open a command line on that server and type that command, it returns all of the scheduled tasks for the system. If I run that code, it returns a blank page.

There are a lot of new features in VS 2010 that I'm very much enjoying, but there are two things occurring that I'm wondering about. I often have several windows open like any developer will, and I arrange them in a particular order that makes sense to me, from left to right. As new windows are opened, tabs are created at the far left, and I move them to where I want them. Basically, I like to have the database diagram at the far left, then the repository class for whatever controller I'm working on, then the service class, then controller class and then various views. Not that my particular order is important to the question, but here it is.
I've noticed that, while working and switching between tabs (by clicking on the tab - not moving it or removing the current one), this order is getting changed. Some of the tabs that I've dragged over to the far right will suddenly be on the far left. The rearrangement always places windows on the far left. This happens regularly, and I've paid attention to my actions, so I know I'm not accidentally dragging them over myself, or closing/reopening them. This seems to occur with the tabs that I use the most, as if Visual Studio is trying to place my most-used tabs over to the far left. I'd rather this not happen and handle the order of the tabs myself.
The other thing is less important, but is a little odd. When I start my MVC 2 application in debug mode, my entire code window goes completely white until the application loads. This never happened in VS 2008, and I'm guessing it's some kind of side effect of having the interface written in WPF. It's not that bad, but is a little annoying.

I'm new in using C# in ASP.net My code is causing Internet Explorer to run slow and return error message asking to stop running this script.
When I use the "Select *...", it return about 700 rows of records and it cause the error.
When I use another SQL "Select NOC0854....", filtering some records, it return about 300 rows of records and no error message appear.
How I can improve my code so that I can retrieve all records from my table? I think 700 rows of records doesn't seem a lot, maybe my code is not correct?
Code:
//cmd.CommandText = "Select * from PTH3759";
cmd.CommandText = "SELECT NOC0854 from PTH3759 WHERE HID0019 >= TO_DATE('11/01/2014','MM/DD/YYYY') AND HID0019 <= TO_DATE('11/28/2014','MM/DD/YYYY')";
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
OracleDataReader dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
if (dr.HasRows) {
GridView1.DataSource = cmd.ExecuteReader();
GridView1.DataBind();
}

I'm executing one stored procedure from the '.net' code. Since there is a lot of data, it is taking too much time to execute. Is there any way to stop this execution from the c# code?
In other words, if we execute the query from database itself, there is a option to stop its execution but in the code is it possible?
