Javascript - How To Remove, Replace Or Disable Dynamically-generated ASP.Net Js Code
Jul 16, 2010
I am working with a few .Net 4.0 webforms controls such as the Menu control and while I think it's great that I can now declare the way in which controls are rendered (i.e. as either tables or divs), I can't switch off the automagically-included javascript that manages the hover events for those controls, for example:new Sys.WebForms.Menu({ element: 'NavigationMenu', disappearAfter: 500, orientation: 'horizontal', tabIndex: 0, disabled: false }This appears at the bottom of every page that owns such a control.
What is the best library/software to compress the dynamically generated javascript on server? I use javascriptzip to do so statically. Any solution for .Net platform? P.S. compression involves removing unnecessary spaces + language compression like changing new Object() into { }
In ASP.NET 4.0 RC2 the Menu Control by default emits Javascript like this:
[Code]....
There should be a feature coming up to disable this, but I think it's not in RC yet. At least it's not working for me.
Now, the problem is, that this Javascript kills my own Menu Javascript (I use an CSS Adapter). Is there a way to overwrite the stuff that comes from the Menu control? Can be a hack, just need something until this is fixed by MS.
I have an application that is supposed to accept checks. The user has 2 radio buttons. The first radio button has a drop down list associated with it which contains the masked numbers of their previously used checking accounts.
The second radio button has three text boxes and an image of a check associated with it.
When a user hits this page, the three text boxes and the check image associated with the second radio button are disabled. Then, if the user decides he/she wants to use a new checking account, they can click the second radio button and that fires the Javascript that enables the three check boxes and the image of the check associated with that second radio button. If they click on the first radio button, it will re-disable the text boxes and hide the check image associated with the second radio button.
The problem happens when I do my server side validation. After validating all text fields, if there is a problem, I just fall out of the bottom of the code, the page posts back and the labels above the offending text fields show an error message.
One caveat: The Javascript that is supposed to fire on the OnClick event for the first radio button fires and the text fields for the second radio button are disabled. The user can click on the second radio button and the fields will enable, but this is very clunky.
Here's the enable code where I am injecting the Javascript:
Private Sub JavascriptInject() Dim sEnableControls As String Dim sDisableControls As String
I have a scenario where a RadioButtonList needs to be in disabled mode by default and then on some event on client side, say, when a checkbox is checked, it needs to be enabled.
But once I disable it from code-behind, the javascript part of enabling it doesn't work.
I would like to conditionally remove a block of text between specifed start and stop delimiters. The code below does not work, but hopefully it suggests enough of what I am trying to accomplish.
I have a long string containing the ,<p> </p> and <br>. I want to clean my string from all these tags and spaces. How it can be done with String.Replace() method. I am doing separately right now, it is working but is there a way to do it at once, without replace() method.
I'm using a <asp:Login> control and it's automatically putting CellSpacing, CellPadding, and Border attributes into the generated HTML table. How can I stop ASP.NET outputting these attributes (without moving to ASP.NET 4)?
How can I disable the code behind validation when javascript validation is present? Then if there is no javascript enabled then the code behind validation will do its thing. What I notice is that it's reading the code behind valdiation not the javascript.
In the Script documents that asp.net automatically generates how can I surround the whole generated scripts with try/catch statement to avoid 'Microsoft JScript Compilation error'
My issue is: i got a DevExpress control (ASPxGridView) that added and set-up in run time, since i activated the grouping functionality in the grid I still get JS error says ';' expected whenever i use (click) on one of grouping/sorting abilities, I activated script Debugging for IE, in the JS code turns out that there is no missing ';' and once i click ignore for the error msg that VS generates every thing works fine, and surly end-user can't see this msg so i figured out if i try/catch the script that may help avoid this error.
I have a simple javascipt which enables/disables some checkboxes when another checkbox ticked/unticked. This works fine, however, in some instances when by page is loaded my code behind disables the same check boxes. When this happenes my original check box nolonger seems to have any influence in enableing or disabling - there is no error and all the elements seem to be found by the javascript - it just doesn't enable/disable the checkboxes.
I use some dropdownlist and radiobutton and textbox in my page.
I just put tabindex just for Textboxs now when I type text in Textbox1 and press Tab button it goes to dropdownlists and after that radiobuttons and after all that it goes to Textboxs according tabindex that I define for them...
I want disable tabindex for dropdownlist and checkboxs and I want just tabindex work for textboxs.
I have inherited an ASP.NET/C# project written way back in .NET 1.0. I started programming in .NET 2.0, so some of the antiquated concepts are foreign. I noticed that 80% of the pages have the following snippet or something similar:
#region Component Designer generated code //Required by the Web Services Designer private IContainer components = null; /// <summary> /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. /// </summary> private void InitializeComponent() { connSQL = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(); connSQL.ConnectionString = Inventory.Properties.Settings.Default.connectionString; } /// <summary> /// Clean up any resources being used. /// </summary> protected override void Dispose( bool disposing ) { if(disposing && components != null) { components.Dispose(); } base.Dispose(disposing); } #endregion
Although this area is hit in the page load process, commenting it out has no obvious effects on the web page. I can guess that if the connSQL object is used and not initialized elsewhere, then problems can come up, this just hasn't been the case. So, my question is where does this designer generated code come from? I've never seen in it the code behind. Is this another .net 1.0 thing?
I have a dropdownlist on my page which has autopostback set to true. On postback I populate a runat server div with a bunch of other DropDownLists. I then have a button which does another postback to save the selections. Because the second set of dropdownlists are dynamically generated I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get their selected values?
1st DropDownList
[Code]....
Then when I try get the dropdownlists using a foreach on the div that I added the control to it does not work. They are populating fine, its just on the button click. I have tried EnableViewState = true on the dropdownlists and my code is correct because if I code them into the aspx then it works, its something to do with the state.
