how to Work with Dunamically generated Link buttons..
I need to find the unic name of each dynamially generated linkbutton..]
Is there any way to work with that..
trouble with the gridview.First at all, I needed a dropdownlist in my gridview, I got it, but now I would like to add a new column with a linkbutton or link that send me to another page to edit an especific item (users in this case), but when I add the column and use templates to put a linkbutton I cannot add event to every linkbutton :(I do this in:
Protected Sub GridView1_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowDataBound
Dim row As GridViewRow = CType(e.Row.Cells(0).NamingContainer, GridViewRow)

I am working with a few .Net 4.0 webforms controls such as the Menu control and while I think it's great that I can now declare the way in which controls are rendered (i.e. as either tables or divs), I can't switch off the automagically-included javascript that manages the hover events for those controls, for example:new Sys.WebForms.Menu({ element: 'NavigationMenu', disappearAfter: 500, orientation: 'horizontal', tabIndex: 0, disabled: false }This appears at the bottom of every page that owns such a control.

I have a form with a dynamically generated checklist:
<asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblGames" runat="server" DataSourceID="sqlGames" DataTextField="Game" DataValueField="Id" </asp:CheckBoxList>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlGames" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Games %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [Id], [Game], [ShowWaitingList] FROM [Aanbod] WHERE ([ShowWaitingList] = @ShowWaitingList)">
<SelectParameters><asp:Parameter DefaultValue="true" Name="ShowWaitingList" Type="Boolean" /></SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
The following code-behind is supposed to check those boxes that correspond to values stored in a database. It fails and I don't know why.

I have a grid. I am building and populating it dynamically in C#. Below mentioned is my issue:
string s1 = "string1";
string s2 = "string2";
And then I have a header cell text which needs to be populated like this.
headercell.text = s1 + new string(' ', 20) + s2;
I am not able to get the extra 20 spaces between s1 and s2. It gives me just one space instead of 20 spaces.
I tried using headercell.text = s1 + s2.padleft(' ', 30); even then I am not able to get more than one space between strings s1 and s2.
Ive been playing around with the default ASP.NET web application template and the following code throws an exception:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.when clicking the created button.
Note 1: The markup is just a blank page with a placeholder in it - see below.
Note 2: Substituting Button for LinkButton, and the code does not throw an exception and works.
public partial class test : System.Web.UI.Page

I have been searching for some time on the net for guidance on this question. Finally thought I will ask here...
I have a gridview that needs to be generated from code behind. There is a column with a name field and the remaining columns give the different user-ids linked to that id. Like this:
-- NAME, ID1, ID2, ID3......
The Name column will be populated from a table that has the Name as well as number of ID's associated with that name. eg [Name1][3]
I need to display linkbuttons that link to user-id related documents in columns 2 to n for each name.How do I dynamically add linkbutton columns from code behind?
The scenerio is I have a UserControl. This user control will create dynamically ListBoxes if the given List's count > 0. The controls are adding dynamically, there is no problem with adding them, but the event handler is not adding. If I select an item in first listBox, the secondListBox will be added dynamically, and items will add dynamically too. First listBox appears, but the selectedIndexChanged event handler doesn't work. What can be the problem with my code?
EDIT: I tried to add
li.Attributes.Add("onselectedindexchanged","selectedIndexChanged");
or
li.AutoPostBack = true;
but still not firing...
private List<string> myList = new List<string>() { "Serkan", "Kadir" };
private List<string> mySecondList = new List<string>() { "Istanbul", "Ankara" };
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
[Code]....
A new route to an old problem for me... I'm creating radiobuttonlists and adding them to an update panel dynamically using this code:
[Code]....
I'm wanting to get the selected radio button value whenever a button on the page is pressed, however (and this is my old problem) I cannot retrieve that value. What I'm wanting to try is to add an event that will record the chosen radio button whenever the selected value has changed and store it into an array.
I´m using a Repeater to generate Items out of a Database. Each ReapeaterItem should include an UpdatePanel, because i have to Update the Controls inside the UpdatePanel and do not want to reload the complete page. Inside these dynamically generated UpdatePanels (each RepeaterItem has one) i´m adding up to three Checkboxes dynamically (based on the Database). These Checkboxes need to fire the "CheckedChanged" event, because on some conditions i want to enable/disable/check/uncheck Checkbox1, 2 or 3 based on business logic. ... Hope you got this so far. I´m adding all Controls and have the EventHandler Added. But the generated Code does not reflect the Event Handler. I tried OnItemDataBound, OnItemCreated, PreRender, ... Events to add the Eventhandler too, but i was not able to find the CheckBox-Control with the ID.
I´m totally lost with this and on the way to use Buttons instead of Checkboxes. From what i read so far is that with Buttons i can use the CommandName from the Button and the ItemCommand-Event from the Repeater to get a workaround, but then i need to reflect the "Check" on the Page in some way. btw, every Repeater (8) sits inside an ajaxtoolkit-accordion control. Here i give you some Code:
aspx-Page
<asp:Repeater ID="RepeaterAccordionPane2" runat="server">
<ItemTemplate>
HTML Stuff<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Header")%>HTML Stuff<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Beschreibung")%></td>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server" UpdateMode=Conditional>
<ContentTemplate>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
HTML Stuff
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>
Here is the Page_Load Part
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
{
dvAlleArtikel = new System.Data.DataView(...Database...);
[... some other code here ...]
RepeaterAccordionPane2.DataSource = dvAlleArtikel;
//RepeaterAccordionPane2.ItemCreated +=new RepeaterItemEventHandler(RepeaterAccordionPane2_ItemCreated);
//RepeaterAccordionPane2.PreRender +=new EventHandler(RepeaterAccordionPane2_PreRender);
RepeaterAccordionPane2.DataBind();
int nUpdatePanelIndex = 0;
foreach (Control crInRepeater in RepeaterAccordionPane2.Controls)
{
if (crInRepeater.GetType() == typeof(RepeaterItem))
{
foreach (Control crInRepeaterItem in crInRepeater.Controls)............
I am banging my head with gridview at the moment. There's a problem I just can't get my head around. I'd be very greatful for any advice given. I have a function that creates a DataTable with three columns and four rows. In each of the cells I set the text to a random number through RowDataBound event. I would like to just make the cell clickable and have a code-behind function that gets the position of the cell (column, row) and the value of the cell when the user clicks it.

Is there a way to make this work?
[code]....
I have inherited an ASP.NET/C# project written way back in .NET 1.0. I started programming in .NET 2.0, so some of the antiquated concepts are foreign. I noticed that 80% of the pages have the following snippet or something similar:
#region Component Designer generated code
//Required by the Web Services Designer
private IContainer components = null;
/// <summary>
/// Required method for Designer support - do not modify
/// the contents of this method with the code editor.
/// </summary>
private void InitializeComponent()
{
connSQL = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection();
connSQL.ConnectionString = Inventory.Properties.Settings.Default.connectionString;
}
/// <summary>
/// Clean up any resources being used.
/// </summary>
protected override void Dispose( bool disposing )
{
if(disposing && components != null)
{
components.Dispose();
}
base.Dispose(disposing);
}
#endregion
Although this area is hit in the page load process, commenting it out has no obvious effects on the web page. I can guess that if the connSQL object is used and not initialized elsewhere, then problems can come up, this just hasn't been the case. So, my question is where does this designer generated code come from? I've never seen in it the code behind. Is this another .net 1.0 thing?
I have a series of div where the id is tagged with the conventional:
<div id="result<%=order.ID %>">
The handler that submits the form can find out what order.ID is via:
fromInput.split(",")[1]
So how do i get that element concatenated with the static part of the DIV id?

I have a dropdownlist on my page which has autopostback set to true. On postback I populate a runat server div with a bunch of other DropDownLists. I then have a button which does another postback to save the selections. Because the second set of dropdownlists are dynamically generated I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get their selected values?
1st DropDownList
[Code]....
Then when I try get the dropdownlists using a foreach on the div that I added the control to it does not work. They are populating fine, its just on the button click. I have tried EnableViewState = true on the dropdownlists and my code is correct because if I code them into the aspx then it works, its something to do with the state.
i have imagebutton which is generated dynamically. say i have 20images, if user clicks i need to get the name of the image.
View 5 RepliesI have an ASP.NET web forms site with a rather large menu. The HTML for the menu is dynamically generated via a method in the C# as a string. I.e., what is being returned is something like this:
<ul><li><a href='default.aspx?param=1&anotherparam=2'>LINK</a></li></ul>
Except it is a lot bigger, and the lists are nested up to 4 deep.
This is written to the page via a code block.
However, instead of returning a flat string from the method I would like to return it as formatted HTML, so when rendered it looks like this:
<ul>
<li>
<a href='default.aspx?param=1&anotherparam=2'>LINK</a>
</li>
</ul>
I thought about loading the html into an XmlDocument but it doesn't like the & character found in the query strings.
I'm trying to programatically add some link buttons to a page.
I'm trying to follow an example that I've seen online but can't get it to work.
I want the linkbutton to call a sub e.g. download_file(,)
As an example what I have is:
Dim lb = New LinkButton()
lb.CausesValidation = True
lb.Attributes.Add("runat", "server")
lb.CommandName = "lb_Click"
lb.CommandArgument = "test"
lb.Text = reader("filename")
lb.EnableViewState = True
lb.Enabled = True
AddHandler lb.Click, AddressOf download_file
Panel1.Controls.Add(lb)
Getting the button(s) to appear would be a start! Also, do I need to put them on a panel?
I have dynamically added some linkbuttons top my page using vb.net
1) how do I add an event handler using raiseevent at runtime
2) I woul like to pass in a vlau to the fuction
I'm displaying a table based on query results, and each record has a dynamically generated dropdownlist and submit button (and other controls, but this is simplified). That part works fine, but how do I reference the controls in a function? Here is the code I've tried. Create the controls:
[Code]....
Reference the control values (hopefully):
[Code]....
The function SubmitAction_Click fires when I click the Post button, so that part works. I just can't figure out how to reference the selected value of the dropdownlist. You can see that I'm explicitly giving the DDL a unique ID (DS_RecordID). I'm guessing I have to use FindControl to reference it, but I don't know how to format the code.
I'm coding an ASP.NET page, with VB code behind. When the user clicks a button on the page, I send them an email with information and instructions. Rather than sending a plain text email, I send a nice, pretty, HTML-formatted one. Right now, I'm doing this in a way that I KNOW will be difficult to maintain. That is, I'm straight up writing out all of the html. i.e.
markup += "<fieldset>"
markup += "<legend>"
markup += "Required Documents"
markup += "</legend>"
and so on. Is there a way to create an aspx page (with vb code behind), and send the html of that page in the body of the email? The information is dynamic, so this pseudo-page would need logic in the on-load event to format the html correctly.
I have implemented a user control with dropdown lists and textboxes where user may choose to add more of the same user control dynamically then submit the values within all usercontrols at the same time. They way I added usercontrols dynamically is whenever user clicks "add more" button, it increases the value of "userControlAmount" in session by 1, reloads the page and during next page_load event, within an updatepanel it creates usercontrols on the fly.
However whenever more is added since all usercontrols are generated again according to the latest user control counter, the values within the dropdownlists and textboxes are getting reseted.
I can hold all values in a viewstate/session however beyond the time/effort it will take, it doesn't sounds very "professional" to me. I was wondering if there is a more efficient way of doing this.
Is there a way to use a generated file as a configSource for a web.config section?
In web.config, I tried a simple:
<webParts configSource="webpartsConfig.aspx" />
where webpartsConfig.aspx just spits out XML when accessed normally, but not as a configSource. (The literal source code is included as-is, giving an error.)
Motivation for this solution: I have different configuration variables locally and online, and I don't want to juggle multiple config files.
so I have drop down list connected to a datasource, and I need to change 2 or 3 of the values before they are displayed and I'm just having trouble figuring out what to do. I'm assuming I setup some kind of loop to check the values, but thats all I can figure.
