Jquery - Deserialize Javascript Date On Server Mvc 3
Mar 2, 2011
I've been struggling with this issue for a while. I'm trying to send an object to the client. Once the client updates the object I'd like to post it back to the server and save it in my database. The first part works fine. However, when I send it back all the dates are messed up and start for year 0001. I assume that's because it can't deserialize the date. Howe can I post a json object with a date property and deserialize it into a type on the server with asp.net mvc 3? group is
public class Group
{
public Group();
public string CreatedBy { get; set; }
public DateTime CreatedOn { get; set; }
public string Description { get; set; }
public string Name{ get; set; }
public string Status { get; set; }
public string UpdatedBy { get; set; }
public DateTime UpdatedOn { get; set; }
}
while
public JsonResult updateGroup(Group group)
{
var result = Repository.updateGroup(group);
return Json(result, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
and on the client I got
$.ajax({
url: '../updateGroup',
type: 'POST',
data: JSON.stringify(group),
dataType: 'json',
contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8',
success: function(){ success(); }
});

I have a custom Javascript object that has a few string and float members. I'd like to serialize an array of them in Javascript, assign the result to a hidden field, and then retrieve and deserialize them in the codebehind for my asp.net application.

my web app uses lots of asp:textboxes and I can save this data back to SQL Server easily using a stored procedure.. however my JQuery datepicker uses an input textbox, how do I save the date entered into this control. <input id="datepicker"type="text" /> back to server and can I use the same stored procedure that I use for the other data?

I've placed a JQuery datepicker control in my aspx Page. It is used as one of a number of items to filter against. In the client to make the datepicker function as per the JQuery Website I have declared:
Code:
<input type="text" id="datepicker"/>
because this is client side, back on the server, I cannot do datepicker.value etc I dont really want to perform a Client AJAX Post method just to get this one value back to the server. picking up the value of the input control. If I set runat="server" against the control, then the datepicker no longer functions as it's no longer clientside.

I'm registering a javascript in aspx.net
Dim script = "<script language = javascript>" & _
"window.setTimeout('ShowTime(true, [?????])', 1000);</script>"
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType, "iniciar", script)
I must write a dateTime parameter in string format, but I'm not achieving the goal. I've tryed various time formats (Eg. 2011/02/10 17:05:00), without success. Ps: I know... when I try with only the date, its ok. But I need the time too.

I'm working on an ASP.Net webpage which will use the jQuery Dropdown Checklist (http://code.google.com/p/dropdown-check-list/). I'm fairly inexperienced with JavaScript and completely new to jQuery.
Basically, my question is: How do you update the selected items in a jQuery DropdownChecklist from the server-side?
NOTE: For details on the solution, scroll to the bottom of the question.
Here's some background to give you a better idea of what I'm doing...
I have a jQuery DropdownChecklist which is being populated when the page loads. When a user selects an item in the DropdownChecklist, the selected values are collected and stored in a hidden input field, then a postback is performed, which allows the server to update a server control. This part is working.
Now, here's my problem. This server control, which is actually a usercontrol has a "Remove" button for each selected item in the DropdownChecklist. When a "Remove" button is clicked, it should cause the associated item in the jQuery DropdownChecklist to be de-selected. So, far I haven't figured out how to make that happen.
Here's some relevant code snippets:
Here's the markup...
<asp:ScriptManager ID="smScriptMgr" runat="server" />
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<select id="s1" multiple="true" runat="server" />
[Code]....
We determined the simplest solution was to call the JavaScript function from the client-side rather than try to do it from the server-side. The ImageButton does have an onClientClick event, but for some reason it didn't work. However, wrapping the ImageButton in a client-side anchor tag and using its onclick event did the charm.

How can I get the active index of the jquery accordion pane when a button is clicked? What I want to do is when a button is clicked in pane 3 for example, I want to store that value and when the page is reloaded, I want pane 3 to remain open.
I intially had this in my server side click and when I hard code a value in for paneIndex it works fine, but obviously, I don't want to do this, I want to get the index on the click and pass that to the script.
string script = "<script type="text/javascript">var paneIndex = " + 3 + "</script>";
if(!ClientScript.IsStartupScriptRegistered("JSScript"))
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(),"JSScript", script);

I have a pop-up div contains a table.
I need to make table rows clickable and can be catched by both js and .net server side .
how can I use Request.form to solve this issue? since I've created functions for js part .
The reason why I want to fire sever side event, because I use JS to add option (item) to an asp:ddl in an updatepanel, it will cause error or lose the new option by doing a postback fired by other buttons.

I am developing a web application for online bidding wher I want the BID button to disable itself, on all clients, whenever someone places a bid. What I need is some javascript to ping the site to check if a bid has been placed on the server, if so, then disable the button. I was suggested to use jQuery for this, use .ajax to query the server for the check. Then use a setTimeout javascript function to keep checking.I am not javascript expert at all so any tips would be greatly appreciated. At lease where to start. Also, will I need to record every single bid in database to achieve above?

I have this date value fetch from a Controller but when I use jQuery Datepicker with validation, the output is not good.The validation is to check if the value is less than or greater than today's date. JQuery Datepicker works well.If I select a date two days from now using datepicker, the validation error won't occur. [:(]

I'm trying to save some content whenever a button/hyperlink is clicked using jquery.ajax (Using Asp.net 3.5). The logic is as follows:
Through .bind in jquery I bind my own method(MakeLog) to a button click or hyperlink click. The click events of button/hyperlink contain nothing, I need to use .bind for selective controls.Now we have a button whose click event will fire a method, say MakeLog.Code snippet for MakeLog is as follows:
var xhr = jQuery.ajax({
url: "/Logger.aspx",
data: { content: logContent }, [code]....
This works fine in IE but in Firefox this is not sending the data back as expected.I tried to identify the issue and came across the following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3522944/jquery-ajax-calls-async-false-vs-async-true .What I understand is that, whenver page is redirecting/reloading due to button click or hyperlink click the async call is not working properly.
