I just published a very small site to GoDaddy that I programmed in Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008. The site only contains 6 sheets, none of which are data intensive. Each has a few small images that serve mostly to navigate to the other sheets. There is no data, no SQL, nothing like that. There is one master page that governs the page layout for all of the pages. Everything works fine, for the most part. I am posting because the site loads quite slowly, particularly considering how little content is being loaded. Can anybody give me any advice about what I should look at to speed this thing up a little bit?
What would cause a single webpage to load slowly? I have javascript within the <head> element. The html consists of 2 <div> elements and within these <div> elements are a bunch of <table> elements and that's it.
The functionality of this site is such that each <table> element contains data that during the "onload" event, these <table> elements are hidden. Each <table> elements is controlled by an HTML menu (the menu itself is an html table). When a menu item is clicked, it will either display or hide the <table> element depending on whether it is already displayed or hidden.
If the leave the webpage (any webpage) on my web application for a while (say 15 min), if I again click on another page it takes a long time to load (20 seconds)
I had a look through the google chrome --> developer module and found that, it is the web page which is the culprit here and the 'LATENCY' time for it is 17 seconds !!! and the actual 'download' time is only 117 ms.
I have a VS 2010 and have created some aspx content pages associated with a master page. I want to call a javascript function right when the page loads but am not able to find an onload client side event for these pages which are using asp:content as there only controls. I know that I can put content in them and I have but how do I call the client side onload event from the main content control?
I have an interesting issue I have racked my brain trying to find a solution to.
I have a site with a single master page. Part of that master page is a text field and button. They are not part of a content placeholder, they are simply part of the master page, itself, and are intended to allow people to search the site from any page on the site.
So, all search requests are routed to a search.aspx page, regardless. I am doing this by setting the PostBackUrl attribute of the button control to "search.aspx".
This all works great, except when I try to use this search capability from the search.aspx page, itself. I figure this is because I am using the Page.PreviousPage object and since a postback from the search.aspx page, itself will result in the Page.PreviousPage being Nothing, it is not performing the proper action.
We are adding openfire fastpath chat to our site. It will determine and indicate when live chat is available or not and display an appropriate image to indicate the current status and links for each state.
The javascript call hit's a function that is on another box and this function uses document.write to output the html to the page. I know there is a delay because it is making the request to another server and waiting for a result to be returned. The pause here is about a half second, but causes the rest of the page load to be held up.
Has anyone experience a similar issue or offer any tips for getting this to load synchronously somehow. I tried putting this into an aspx ajax panel, but that seemed to cause other issues.
I have my main web site pages in the Root folder. I have several other pages in a subfolder below the Root folder. When I launch a web page that is in the sub folder it does not correctly render the page. For example it loses the gif image that needs to be on every page. Is there something I need to add to the pages in the sub folder or do I need to set the path differently to the master page? Currently it looks like this;
I am trying to publish a sugarcrm site I created in webmatrix to my site hosted on godaddy, however when i go into the publish settings and enter the server info, passwords etc., I can only get the connection to validate for the FTP protocol setting. When i click the button to test and validate the connection for webdeploy instead of ftp, it tries then says connection timed out. How do I get this to work so that I can publish my site on godaddy?
I picked up a new-to-me client who had a site built in ASP.net (which I do not host).I converted the site to PHP, which worked fine.I want to set up redirects for all the pages he had in the old site (it was a small site, so there was only 8 pages). As an example, the ASP.net url for the Contact page was www.domain.com/Contact - it is now www.domain.com/Contact.php (and so on).
For 301 redirects from one PHP page to another I normally use the .htaccess file:
I have the following code which seems to work OK except for a minor problem. When the user first visits the page the correct phone number appears but on the second visit - if they should see a different number, they need to load the page twice before the number changes to the new one.'m not too sure how to explain this best so if you need more info please do ask.

We have a site that upon every page load, it tries to contact a sql server on the local machine. It does not contact localhost, but the actual IP of the local machine. It fails, then contacts the correct DB server for membership information. In dev, apparently the server was contacting the local sqlexpress server, then contacting the correct DB as well. Only when we stopped the localmachine dev SQLExpress could we recreate the issue. We had removed entries in machine.config, and web.config to .sqlexpress, but the problem still persists.
we're looking to compress our gargantuan JavaScript files with GZip to speed up the page loads of our site. I know this can be done through IIS, but I can't seem to find a simple step-by-step guide on how to implement it.We're running IIS7.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2.
When i'm trying to debug or view pages of my site in browser asp.net dev server doesn't turns on pages automatically and when im trying to go by url it throws me an error See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

i'm developing a site using VS2010 and with my windows vista busniness OS. i used the default VS2010 wizard for new web application to create it. included a folder in the root directory and created new aspx pages to derive from the master page in the root directory of my site. everything shows on the new pages except the jpeg image logo in the master page. But other aspx pages i created in the root directory shows every thing fine.
Currently I'm doing common functionality required throughout my site inside of my masterpage. What I want to do is move this functionality to a BaseClass so All my pages inherit from the Base Class. However, I'm not sure how to set this up interms of c# code with regards to Using a Base Class and then having a masterpage applied to my aspx pages that i create.
Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?
My requirement was to share master files among diff projects i read this doc [URL] so i use this technique to share msster pages among my diff projects in a soln but i dnt know how to reference such shared master page as if i use such
How do you implement SquishIt to bundle Css/Js across View Pages and Render it in the Master page? I thought I could use a ContentPlaceHolder above the Render portion, but there seems to be some odd behavior where it sometimes adds 3 files (1 in the view page and 2 in the master page) but other times will ignore the file added from the View Page.
Is it possible with ASP.NET Master Pages to create content pages dynamically? That is, I know we can create content dynamically, but the content pages themselves, can those be created programmatically? I want to give my users the ability to define new content pages (i.e. Categories: Sofas, Tables, Lamps, and add/delete as they see fit) through a management panel. The resulting content pages should have proper URL naming, so that they index properly. An example: http://www.example.com/products/Lamps/contentpage.aspx.Is there a demonstration of this somewhere I can view?
I'm asking these questions for a client of mine...
Can you use asp.net and a ms sql db with GoDaddy?
Do they make it hard to leave them?
10 years ago I took over admin control of my own website that I have with networksolutions. When I change from one isp to another I simply make my own changes to the url with networksolutions and direct it at any old server I want.
I got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels. My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
