Has anyone ever seen an instance where Visual Studio (or possibly SourceSafe) would decide to insert about 9 million non-breaking space characters at the end of a line in an ASPX file?I'm trying to figure out if this could be some weird bug, or if a programmer fell asleep with her head on the space bar, while in design view... and then went ahead and checked the page into SourceSafe without noticing what she'd done.
I think that there is a good solution to remove white spaces from aspx page and from aspx.cs files. There are some solutions how to remove white spaces from html (aspx) but there is nothnig about aspx.cs.
I am trying to break a large web.config file into smaller parts. This has been covered a few times on different stack overflow questions (like this or this) which recommend using the configSource or file attributes. The problem is this does not work for the system.webServer section used to configure IIS 7 in integrated mode. This is particularly bad for web.config files that have IIS Rewrite rules which tend to bloat the files.
I'm running a query that brings millions of records and makes the server run out of memory. I'm thinking I should get the data in chunks. So I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this or point me to another place where I can read further.
Currently, I just implemented "paging". I can now pass a "page index" parameter and "page size". So I could call 1,000 times the stored procedure with a page size of 1,000 (for 1 million records). This might be an option, but I wanted to hear someone else's opinion on how to "stream" records from oracle to the web server and then to a file.
I am able to access the controls of ".aspx" file in ".aspx.cs" directly without any declaration in ".aspx.cs" or in designer.cs. How is this possible? This is happeing only if I open website as using File System.
Create a new ASP.NET web site application with Visual Studio 2008. So following three files will be created automatically

How btnSave is being recognized by .cs file without defining it anywhere as an object of System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button?
When I update a js file in my asp.net project, I refresh the browser and the change shows up as expected. If I change a css file or an .aspx file, the change does not show in the browser. Not when I clear the browser's cache, not when I restart IIS (iisrestart). What could this possibly be?
I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.
I have a little web app, that consumes a web service. the main page runs a search - by passing params to a particular ws method, and then i bind the results to a gridview.
I have implimented sorting and paging on the grid, by putting the datatable that the grid is bound to in the viewstate and then reading/sorting / filtering it when necessary - and rebinding to the grid.
recently - as the amount of data coming back from the WS has increased dramatically when i try to page/sort etc i get
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
having googled around a bit it seems that a very large viewstate is to blame for this. but surely the only other option is to
Limit the results stick the datatable in the session rather than the viewstate dunno :)
previously i did have the datatable in the session, as some of this data needed to persist from page to page - (not being posted however so viewstate was not an option), but as the amount of data rose, and the neccessity to persist was removed, i used the viewstate instead. thinking this was a better option that the session anyway mostly because of the amount of data the session would have to hold, and the number of users using the app.
i actually thought that when the viewstate got very big, that .net split it over more than one hidden viewstate field, but it seems all im getting is one mamoth one that i have trouble viewing in the source..
can anyone enlighten me as to how to avoid the error im getting.. if it is indeed to do with the amount of data in the viewstate
I am using HTML file control and HTML image control in .aspx page (for uploading image and showing on web page). It is working fine. But I am unable to get that uploaded image file path and file name in .aspx.cs page. And also tell me how to save selected image in MS ACCESS database.
I am using JQuery & JSON (POST) to call webmethod. However I can call only webmethod located at aspx file but not in asmx file Below are sample codes
CustomValidate.asmx Imports System.Web.Services Imports System.Web.Services.Protocols Imports System.ComponentModel Public Class CustomValidate Inherits System.Web.Services.WebService 'ACCESS VIA JSON <System.Web.Services.WebMethod()> _ Public Shared Function AJAX_Test(ByVal date1) As Boolean... Return True End Function End Class Javascript: JQuery JSON function isDates(source, arguments) { var isValidDate; $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "CustomValidate.asmx/AJAX_Test", data: '{date1: "' + arguments.Value + '"}', dataType: "json", async: false, success: function(result) { isValidDate = result; }, error: function(httpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert("status=" + textStatus + ",error=" + errorThrown); } }); arguments.IsValid = isValidDate; }
It always return javascript undefined error. But if I put the AJAX_Test webmethod in aspx page and replace the url: "CustomValidate.asmx/AJAX_Test" to "mypage.aspx/AJAX_Test". It works fine.
Our website used to be a php website, now everything changed to .net, but the customer still want to keep the original php Request url. I want to know How to set Handler mapping on IIS7 to redirect .php file to .aspx file ? In more details, when you click handler mappings on IIS 7.0, what kind of hanlder should you add (add managed handler or add script map or add wild card script map or add module mapping) to redirect .php file to .aspx file?
This block of code display Download file Dialog for Open or Save the attached file. It's working fine in Mozila Firefox and IE8 but doesn't display Download file Dialog box in IE 7
I am working solo on an Asp.net/C# project created by someone in the past. I created two new web forms, and then built the prjocect and did the deploy using a TFS team build project. For some strange reason, my Aspx file is not getting copied to the destination DEV server. It does get copied to a temp folder on that server, but in the end, the team build is failing and not copying over the new Aspx file.
So until I figure out how to fix the team build script, is their a way to just copy the Aspx file out to the desired server location? That as well as copying out a dll which is associated with the build file?
A have a custom object - Person in my cs-file and I want to Bind the property Firstname from Person to my textbox txtFirstname in my aspx-file but I cant seem to make it work.
I usually work with webcontrols so its very rare that I get out of my cs-file and use the aspx-file. I can solve my problem by letting my cs-file update the Text-property on my TextBox - but I dont want that I have declared my Person object as protected in my cs-file like this
protected Person myPerson = new Person { Firstname = "Testname" }; and my aspx-file looks like this
I get nothing in my textbox and I want to use this method to update the text-property for a change - you know just to learn some new and not getting stocked in the cs-file all the time.
I have developed one webApplication that i suppose to submit to my client but for security reason i want to convert all the .cs to dll file.example consider customer.aspx customer.aspx.cs here i donot want to provide customer.aspx.cs file to customer instead i want to give client as dll fileI i can do this, PLEASE HELP ME, IT IS VERY URGENT FOR ME, I WAS TRYED LAST 2 DAYS,
What is the proper way to.. escape if that is the proper term, that html entity so that it will produce the output Code: 8:53 am and the non breaking space is rendered correctly be the browser?
The ASP.NET MVC RC change the GenerateId() behavior in theTagBuilder class. I know you followed the HTML 4.01 Specification, but there are so many non-standard HTML ID existed in the world. For example, there are columns in the database tables that contains non-ASCII characters ( e.g. Chinese, Japanese, ... ). Due to Model passed to the View, the input field ID will contains that characters. For this new GenerateId() feature will breaking changes our original ASP.NET MVC application. All the ID will just gone.
It appears as though as soon as I intoduce a CPE function which is targeted to a floating panel/DIV, the DIV that has a height/width set to it dimension completely loses it value, or so it appears. In other words the DIV holds it's width and height parameters if the CPE function is not added to the page. see the screenshots and code.

Here is the code to produce figure 1 result.

I have spent majority of my day trying to figure out why, I simply do not have and answer and was hoping if somebody has already seen this problem or know how to configure it for the floating DIV to hold it's width and height property when the CPE fucntion is added to the page.
The variable id is declared and it's value set eralier in the method. When the new window opens it displays the image properly, but the existing page suddenly loses all of it's styling. The links double in size and change font family. Does anyone know a way to retain styling on the calling page?
