Multi-select Control (best Practice)?

I wrote a schedule app -- in asp.net 3.5 -- used where I work to do all the scheduling, and it actually turned out quiet nice. The issue is, you can only schedule one employee at the time.Each job is one row in a database and equals one employee.We have a lot of jobs that involve multiple employees, so it would be much easier to create one entry that schedules 3 employees for the same job.I've looked at a lot of multi-select dropdowns and combo boxes. Here is what I would like some advice on.
If multi-select selects employee numbers 2202, 2403, and 3610...how is the best way to get that into the database?I'm thinking 2202, 2403, and 3610 get put into an array, and use a loop to add each entry into the database. The database stays the same, and when this gets posted, there are three new entries in the database, one for each of the employees.Am I thinking right or can maybe someone that has done this offer some insight to something that would work better?

I'm looking to build a user control where the user should be able to select N number of files for upload using the same "file/explorer" dialog/control. Currently, the FileUpload control enables a user to select only one file for upload. I have seen examples where people have modified this, so that uploaded files are stored in a list to provide a "mass upload" functionality. However, the user can select only one file at a time. This is NOT what I want, the user should be able to select multiple files at a time, or select a folder with which I should be able to upload all the children images. Is there any way I can do this or has someone done this already and i'm somehow missing it?

which is better approach from performance point of view, is it better to use one web-service method to load data by passing Database Table name and keys or is it better to use separate method for each database table! knowing that i'm using .net asmx through ajax requests.it's obvious that one method is better from OO perspective since it have one function type 'data loading' but what about performance? does IIS affected by that or not? also is it better to make multi web-services 'asmx files' or just one!

Our current application is working fine but when you try to misbehave like we found out that When login with same user in multiple tab with different organization(there is a organization dropdown in the master page which sets the cookie whenever it is changed.) in tab one it is org 1 and tab 2 it is org2 , cookie has the later org 2 in it but when we go back in tab1(which had org1) and save the record org 2 will be saved with the record So can some one share some sort of a checklist with us which address these types of problem.

I need to be able to select multiple options on a web form, but those options are hierarchical. For example:
Option 1
Option 1 a
Option 1 b
Option 2
The user should be able to select Option 1, or Option 1a, etc. Selecting Option 1 a should automatically select Option 1.

I'm creating a search form that will include textbox and multi-select listboxes. I figured out how to load the listboxes but not how to grab those values on the postback in the controller method. Here's my simplified code:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Mvc;
using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations;

Using a ListBox, where multiple items can be selected. Using StringSplit SQL function the string passed from Listbox is separated where the delimeter is comma ( , ).ListBox is in search form where user enters search criteria using other controls and the ListBox. All works good by simply using below SQL statement in Stored procedure that carries search.
[Code]....
Question:- Now one of List Item is None , when None is selected or None is selected with other ListItems from ListBox it is required to retrieve all records where COLUMN IS NULL.Example: When the Male, Female and None is selected from ListBox, SQL statement in Stored procedure will be
[Code]....
Like to know how this can be handled? It is required to retrive NULL values when None is selected in ListBox as well as in combination of other ListItems(Male and Female) i.e., Male, Female, Null when user selects multiple items from ListBox.

I am trying to create a multi column listbox by combining fields in Linq select statement, as Let Name = Last + First. The problem is how to pad the Last column with spaces as you would in SQL using REPLICATE so when I bind the listbox to the data, it looks like two columns.

I have been investigating the best way that I can secure my MVC application and restrict specific functionality from users. My first approach was using role management. I thought of expanding the membership database by writing an interface that would allow me to create groups of functionality i.e. 'manage customer' and then another table would hold 'activity' information for that group i.e. 'create', 'edit', 'transfer', etc. I would then create another table to link groups of functionality to specific roles and then assign my users to the roles. At first this seemed ok but I soon realised that I was a level of granularity missing. Not every user who is assigned to a specific role should have access to all of the functionality for a given group attached to a role, damn! I then thought that I could create another linking table that would hold 'access exceptions' i.e. this table would contain entries of a userid and activity id that a specific user was excluded from.
Does this approach make any sense? Is the creation of databases tables and an interface the best approach to this?

I would like to ask you what is the best practice for developing composite user web control with multiple controls inside from the stand point of dealing with properieties. In my situation I would like to use header menu bar with logos, buttons, java baset visible/hidden menus itc as web control. I was successfull in implementing new control in my project.
But my question goes to issue of properties for ALL OF controls. I know how to hard code all required properties like: text, visible, enable for all controls. It's a lot of work. ( This is the very edge of my asp.net comprehension ) Is there a more elegant way provide an access to controls's properties without hard coding seperatelly?

We have a simple ASP.NET app that uses the ASP.NET SqlMembershipProvider and all is great.
We want to create a second app on the same server, also use the SqlMembershipProvider, but a different "applicationName" so that the user accounts between the two apps are kept separate.
It looks like this would be possible by making the two different app domains (ie they each have their own web.config), but I'm hoping to just put them in different directories so I don't have 3 web.configs (one for each app, and the main one) that all have to be kept synchronized. So what I'm after is:
/web.config
/APP1 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist A)
/APP2 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist B)
It looks simple to define multiple membership providers that use a different 'applicationName' value.
But how do you tell the system.web.authentication node which membership provider to use?

I would like to create a multi-part form that can be used for entering and updating data.
From all of the tutorials it was unclear to me how to read the value of, for example, the text in a text box, so that I can update a database. One of the videos deals with using find control to find the values of controls that are inside item templates. That doesn't seem to be applicable here.
The second question I have is how to populate the value of a textbox or dropdown list from a database.
I want to do this programmatically.
