i have a image upload using a .ashx handler, but i need to get one of the form values inside the handler, i have tried
int compId = int.Parse(context.Request.Form["hdCompId"].ToString());
and
int compId = int.Parse(context.Request.QueryString["hdCompId"].ToString());
but i get a null reference, any ideas how i can do this?

I'm trying to pass JSON from jQuery to a .ASHX file. Example of the jQuery below:

How do I retrieve the JSON data in my .ASHX file? I have the method:

but I can't find the JSON values in the request.
Setup: I have a RadioButtonList with two listitems (One Street, the other Schools). These define what type of search I want. I textbox with associated autocomplete. First you select which search to complete, and then start typing and the autocomplete will make . Autocomplete goes out to ashx webservice which pulls a list from the database.

i am trying to pass a value, from my .aspx form to a ashx request via a session or a cookie,
the cookie exists but in the ashx it returns a null, and same with the session value.
I have built a form where an admin can define email address and save them so the system can sent emails to those defined. I dont want to use database for this vary purpose. Can i uses application variables for this purpose . would it save my settings for next time user logged in

I'm trying to do a form submit to my controller through jQuery Ajax. The following code works for the most part, however, the ThreadId parameter does not get passed. If I call the controller directly without using jQuery, it gets passed, but when using jquery, I don't see the ThreadId after form.serialize(). WHat would be the easiest way to pass parameters (like ThreadId) to jQuery form post?

I have 2 dropdowns on my page, i can select from both and complete the other text fields on my form and click my button to submit. But when i receive the email, i get everything from the form, except that the drop down values are coming across as the default value of "0"

I have an Send.aspx page that has an uploadify control on it. Upload.ashx handles the file upload.I am adding a file record to a sql database in the Upload.ashx file and I need to get the ID of that record back from Upload.aspx when it is done.Can't get it working with Sessions. =( Something to do with an Adobe bug?

I have a gridview that pops up when you click a link. It displays 5 columns.. if you click on the "select" link next to the record, i pass that rows values back to my form and submit the form again.. this works fine if i select a record that has all my form field values..
but if i pick a record that has some values that are empty it doesnt work.. after debugging im finding that for the fields that are blank on the screen, this is the value being passed " " which of course is not empty or null.. so my code doesnt know how to handle that.. i even tried to add .Trim() to the end of the gridview value and still getting that space being passed. How can i pass empty string instead of the for fields that dont have anything to pass?

Actually the handler never gets called. I already searched the forums and tried some tips and hints. But nothing of that worked. Try to call the url via[URL]

View 1 RepliesI've got a simple ASHX handler that returns an dynamically generated image; the image is generated from a custom created class, and an object belonging to this class is passed to the handler using Session (I'd rather avoid using QueryString).The handler is used as the URL of an image on a ASP form which is very simple: a drop down list, a button and an image. Basically, depending on what the user selects from the list, the appropriate image will be generated once the button is pressed.
At the start the actual image has it's Visible property set to false; I don't want the handler to display anything before the data is all there.Once the button is pressed, the required Session parameter is added containing the necessary object, and the page is refreshed using Server.Transfer. When the Page_load method detects that the Session parameter has been correctly set, it sets the Visible parameter on the image to true.After that the handler fires up and generates the image.
So far so good... However, if the user now picks something different from the list and presses the button, despite the correct object being passed in the Session, the image won't be updated. In fact, the handler won't even fire up (if I put a breakpoint in there). I need to close the browser window and reopen it for it to work.Any ideas what could be the cause of such behaviour?I suspect the answer is very simple, and I just don't know something fundamental about ASP (or handlers)...
