C# - Uploadify - Passing Information Back To The Original Form?

Mar 3, 2010

I have an Send.aspx page that has an uploadify control on it. Upload.ashx handles the file upload.I am adding a file record to a sql database in the Upload.ashx file and I need to get the ID of that record back from Upload.aspx when it is done.Can't get it working with Sessions. =( Something to do with an Adobe bug?

What would the best way to handle this be?Here is the uploadify control:

//
var contestID = $('[id$=HiddenFieldContestID]').val();[code]...

This took a while for me to figure out. But in retrospect it is extremely simple. For this reason, I mad a video tutorial to help newcomers get started quickly and understand how this awesome control works.

CSS For Mobile Sometimes Reverts Back To Original?

Feb 23, 2011

So most of the time my stylesheets appear properly. The standard/original one always works flawlessly, however it seems sometimes the mobile one is disregarded when looked at from a mobile device

I have them designated as follows:

I'm using a Droid X to view the page, in portrait mode, so the device width shouldn't be exceeding the max-width specified above, but sometimes, randomly, it still reverts back to the original css page.

C# - Get Original Data Back After It Has Been Databound?

Jul 15, 2010

I've databound some data to a datagrid and I'm wanting to be able to get the original data back.

I've databound the data as follows in one section of my code.

IEnumerable<MyClass> myClasses = GetMyClassesFromDatabase();
DataGridForMyClass.DataSource = myClasses;
DataGridForMyClass.DataBind();

When I've clicked a button, I want to be able to do stuff with the items in the datagrid.

How do I, given the DataGridForMyClass, retrieve the original list of MyClass?

Redirect User Back To The Original Page?

Feb 8, 2010

I have an edit page which is used from different sources. After editing I would like to redirect user to original page. Earlier I used ID (given as a parameter) and Action (hard-coded) to redirect user to certain page, but problems occurs when many different pages can access the same edit page.

Should I store complete URL and pass it as a parameter? Are there any known issues with that (string length etc.)?

Javascript - Get Callback Info Back To Original Calling Function?

May 7, 2010

Let's say you have a Javascript function that calls a web service method. So that webservice completes and calls a callback function, which has the result.

How do I get that result back into the original function that called the web service method? Essentially, I'm trying to "synchronize" an asynchronous call.

Update:

This is what I'm trying to do. I'm validating based on the return value of a web service.

Forms Data Controls :: Clicking Edit Changes GridView Back To Original Query?

May 28, 2010

I have a gridview that I have bound to a sqldatasource. However I have the gridview changing data shown per a drop down list and textbox so I can choose how I am searching.

My code includes changing the select command of the data source and rebinding the gridview.

My issue is that if I implement the edit button and click edit the grid view seems to resort back to the original select command that was entered when I created the datasource.

Is there any way to get the gridview to do what I want it to?

MVC :: Passing Sensitive Information Through HTML ActionLink?

Jan 29, 2011

I did some google searching on this, but I could not find anything useful.

Basically what I am trying to do is pass some sensetive information to an ActionResult through the click of a HTML ActionLink.

The information I need passing through is, the ProductID and the User IP Address.

So just to clarify:

1) User clicks { I like Product } link (HTML ActionLink)

2) That sends the Product ID and the IP Address of the user to the ActionResult in the Controller.

Web Forms :: Passing Information From A MasterPage To A CustomSiteMapProvider?

Feb 27, 2010

The MasterPage displays the NavBar for every page of my site.

The NavBar is constructed from a SQL table using a CustomSiteMapProvider.

I need to pass information from the MasterPage to the CustomSiteMapProvider to get it to display the whole SiteMap or only part of it.

In the CustomSiteMapProvider class I have included a property:

Private vSiteMapID As String
<Personalizable(True)> _
<WebBrowsable(True)> _
Public Property SiteMapID() As String

[Code]....

But ViewState is either undefined or gives "reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" if I import System.Web.UI.PageStatePersister.

Web Forms :: Pulling Information From Another Webform - Passing Parameters

Nov 29, 2010

I'm creating a pseudo invoicing system. I've got a webform where users can pick such informaiton as days, companies, etc to pull the information to create the invoice for and then they click a submit button. I'm wondering what the easiest method would be to get this information. I've had success with such commands as:

DropDownList SourceTextBox = (DropDownList)Page.PreviousPage.FindControl("DropDownList2");

but how can you pull this information through the SQLDataSource tools? When I choose to alter the "WHERE" in the sql clause to a control items in the previous page are not accessible.

C# - Hold Temporary Information In Gridview Before Post Back?

Mar 28, 2011

I have a Dialog (Modal), where I'll register one (or several) contact.

the contact goes to a gridview, where they may be edited or deleted.

the data in the Gridview, can only be saved in the database at the end of the process.

How can I achieve this?

Modal code

[Code]....

OBS.:

I don't have a good sample of CSharp or html code, 'cuz i don't know how to achieve this. All my code look messy atm (trying a lot of things already) My GridView is an ascx, and the modal is in the same ascx. I belive some temporary table, or something like this will help, but i never did something like it (looks like a shop cart software), and i don't even know how look for it.

EDIT:

i did this code:

CSharp code:

[Code]....

i create one temporary gridview, but the data is empty, i tried pull it from my text in the modal, but i was not able to, i'm i'm not familiar in how i'll get the data from gridview to my database. (i believe this is the easier part, then i not focused at it in the moment)

What I need to be able to do is if I update, delete, etc something from the Gridview (user control), I would like it to display what ever message I send to the Literal control

I can do it from the actual ListView itself by doing somethihg like ((Master_Admin) Master).Text +=

MVC :: Passing Data From View Back To Controller

Sep 23, 2010

I have following situation - I am pasing user info object from Controller to View. It contains GUID UserID, which i dont want to be seen on page. So I removed every Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc... from generated View source. And because of this when Html.BeginForm() returns that object back to Controller all values is there but UserID is lost??

If I leave Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc.. in View everything is fine. But I dont want to show UserID? Where is the problem here?

<%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.C__User_Id) %>

MVC Passing Model Together With Files Back To Controller?

The rest of this controller does not matter since no matter what I do, the count attribute of Request.Files (or Request.Files.Keys) remains 0. I simply can't find a way to pass the files from the form (the Model passes just fine).

AJAX :: Passing Data To The Client And Back?

Aug 31, 2010

(I think) with using a data bound Custom Control on the server to get hold of my data (it will be part of a larger dataset) and to ultimately pass updates to the database. The bit I'm researching at the moment is passing that data to and from the client.One way to pass the data to the client is to use JSON within the Pageload event to construct a set of Javascript objects (one per row in the data). Is that the best way, or am I missing something?

Then, after the data has been manipulated on the client, I need to pass the rows back again so that the server side code can pick them up and process the updates. I've seen a suggestion on here that a hidden text field is one way to do that. Is it the best?Neither of my approaches seem to be at all elegant - and I suspect that I am missing something fundamental in ASP .NET AJAX!
