Rendering Dynamic Controls Via JavaScript In A Wizard In An Update Panel?

Mar 3, 2011

I have a user control.

On that user control is an update panel.

In that update panel is a wizard.

One of the steps is as follows.

[Code]....

What this does is create a javascript spinner control. Now when I click the NEXT button onto this step it generates the spinner control. I click next to go to the next step, then I click PREVIOUS to go back to this step and the spinner control is not generated.

Now I have tested this on an ASPX page and it seems to work, I then copy the code across to an ASCX control and put the page live and it does not work.

The update panel has an animation extender that just displays a div with a processing gif when you click next/previous.

So any reason why it creates the control on the next and not the previous step?

Dynamic JavaScript Not Working In Update Panel?

Apr 20, 2010

I am working on an application where i have got, a content page within a Master Page. I have placed a gridview on the page. This gridview has three fields, one of them is TemplateFied, a BoundFiled and a CommandField, along with paging enabled in the gridview.

In the template field i am creating a dynamic javascript on RowDataBound.

I wanted to place this gridview in Update panel so that it doesnot re-loads when command is clicked or page is changed.

I placed a scriptmanager and an update panel, and placed the grid in it. Now my command field works only once and not more, and same is true for the javascript, it doesnt gets initilized.

AJAX :: How To Do Update Panel And Dynamic Controls And Post Back

Sep 29, 2010

I have a page that is mostly dynamically built in the page load of my VB.net code behind page.

The issue is that I made a change to the page and added a button that redirects to a secondary page. When the button is clicked there is a very noticeable lag until the button click event fires because the page is being rebuilt every time.

I had not wrapped the code in the load event in the If not ispostback.... because I have dynamic controls that the user interacts with and I need the page to be rebuilt when the user clicks them.

The dynamic controls are clickable table cells. I did some looking and I found that the RegisterPostBackControl. I thought this would be perfect but, it does not although I maybe using it incorrectly.

Here is the code flow.

AJAX :: Multiview Dynamic Control Disappear Into A Update Panel?

Jan 12, 2010

I have a page with an UpdatePanel in wich I load the menu selected Layout pages, and the layouts loads its contents dynamically.

It works fine, but when I load a Layout that has an Multiview control, the code behind of the Layout don't come in into the if(!Page.IsPostBack), ok, I fixed it with if(multiview.ActiveViewIndex==-1) multiview.setactiveview("viewName").

In the Multiview I have a ListView, in the listview I have Linkbuttons that opens another view and shows the information of the specified row dynamically.

when I click in the link so the page disappear from the update panel... why? I do not a full postback of the page, so I think I don't need to reload that page on the update panel... Right?

AJAX :: Update Panel Versus Dynamic Populate Extender

Dec 20, 2010

I have an invoice form that I want to be able to populate using an ajax control. There will be a section at the top that will allow the user to select a record from a db or create a new one. This section will have several criteria types that can be used to select the records. They will be able to choose the record by the invoice id, date of service....etc.

I'm trying to decide between using the dynamic populate extender and the update panel for the different areas of the invoice. For example, there are different sections that show the customer's info, notes for the invoice, the services performed and the totals for the work done. I want each of these to be dynamic. For example, when a new service is added to the invoice the total is updated. Or if an existing invoice is opened these fields will be populated for that record.

I'm trying to decide if the dynamic populate extender or update panels should be used for each of these dynamic sections of the invoice. It seems like either can be used but I'm not sure which would be better.

Injecting JavaScript Outside An Update Panel?

Jan 8, 2010

I have an aspx page with four UpdatePanels. Incidentally, each UpdatePanel corresponds to a JQuery UI tab. What I am trying to achieve is a JQuery UI modal dialog OUTSIDE the UpdatePanels that can be called from server-side code running INSIDE any of the UpdatePanels. So, inside the first UpdatePanel is an asp:Button which runs some server-side code. When an error ocurrs, I want to be able to inject some JavaScript that will call the modal dialog to display the error message. Here is the code I am using:

Dim script As String = "showPopupMessage('{0}');"
script = String.Format(script, errorMessage)
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(Me.UpdatePanelBizInfo, Me.UpdatePanelBizInfo.GetType, Guid.NewGuid.ToString, script, True)

The showPopupMessage function on the page looks like this:

function showPopupMessage(msg) {
$('#<%=Me.LabelPopupMessage.ClientID %>').text(msg);
$('#dialogPopupMessage').dialog('open');
}

When the code runs to inject the JavaScript, nothing happens. I am assuming it has something to do with the fact that the error ocurrs in the code running inside an UpdatePanel. Upon inspecting the resulting HTML, the JavaScript is there. What am I doing wrong?

Web Forms :: Viewstate Dynamic Controls In Wizard?

Sep 14, 2010

I have a question about retrieving the values from dynamic created controls. I'am using an wizard witch collects it data based on the steps in the wizard. At a certain wizard step i generate dropdownlists and textboxes depending on some records from a database. At this point no problem, the controls are created perfect. When i press the next button on the wizard i read out the eventarg e.currentstepindex, iterate throug the gridview witch is displaying the controls and try to find the control with "findcontrol" function.

The controls are "nothing" and i cant access them. THe source code of the page lets me show that the controls are there and that they have the assigned ID's.I investigated on google what the problem could be. I has to do with the viewstate and i have to regenerate the controls on page_load.

Custom Server Controls :: Dynamic User Control Rendering - How To Do It

Jun 8, 2010

I am using two user controls in my page. The controls are loaded dynamically one at a time. I'm just referencing the user controls in the page and loading them dynamically using 'LoadControl()'. Everything is working fine till now and the user can switch the controls one another.

Here the issue I found is eventhough the controls are working as expected and the data is visible, the rendered HTML contains only the first loaded user control's markup.

Even if the current control displayed is 'usercontrol2', the source shows 'usercontrol1' markup. How can I force the page to render 'usercontrol2' markup and remove 'usercontrol1' markup while loading'usercontrol2'?

AJAX :: Refreshing Update Panel Through Javascript Postback?

Mar 17, 2010

In one of my webpage, I have a parent window where i have a datalist with 10 rows of images. when i click any image a pop up window(child window) opens.

The child window has a form to be filled by user. Once user fills this form, he will press the save button. Once the save button is clicked, the child window should be closed and the datalist(in the update panel) in the parent window should be refreshed.

This is how I am trying to achieve this. On click of the save button a javascript function is being called of the parent window like this: window.opener.refreshDataList();

in the refreshDataList() function I have written the following code:

{
childWindow.close();
__doPostBack('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_UpdatePanel1', '');
}

This works like a charm in Internet Explorer. However in Mozilla and Chrome it doesnt work. While testing this I added an alert statement ind the refreshDataList() function like this..

{
childWindow.close();
alert("Testing");
__doPostBack('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_UpdatePanel1', '');
}

Once I added the alert statement, It started working in both mozilla and chrome.

So I realize that It could be an issue related to focus. I have done window.focus()

but still its not recieving any focus and not working in Mozilla and Chrome.
